Match 1: 2-0 vs. Boros Burn
Fairly easy matches. He spent some effort trying to keep my board in check, sending Chandra's Phoenix at my planeswalkers occasionally, and firing Magma Jet at Xenagos, the Reveler tokens. I think he could have had a better shot if he had went for the dome earlier, I had enough card advantage to always have a significant board presence.
Match 2: 1-2 vs. Mono-Black (with green splash for Abrupt Decay)
Game 1 I had answers for all of his threats, and a Stormbreath Dragon brought it home. Game 2 was brutal, I kept a 4-lander on the draw and he got Domri Rade with Duress and then Polukranos, World Eater with Lifebane Zombie and the few non-lands I drew were instantly answered. Game 3 I had too much removal in hand and not enough threats (I think I sideboarded incorrectly here). He used Golgari Charm to regenerate Desecration Demon after I cast Dreadbore and I didn't have another answer.
Match 3: 2-0 vs. G/R aggro
My deck had a significantly higher power level here (I was matched down with a guy who was 0-2). He had a few aggressive combos (e.g. Sedge Scorpion + Armed / Dangerous + bloodrush, Slaughterhorn + Madcap Skills + Alpha Authority) but after getting 2 and 3-for-1'ed by Abrupt Decay and Mizzium Mortars he was overwhelmed as he had no card advantage.
Match 4: 2-0 vs. 4-color Control
This was a pretty strange deck. It ran a lot of planeswalkers including Kiora, the Crashing Wave and Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver, along with the staples of Supreme Verdict, Detention Sphere and Banishing Light. But there was no Sphinx's Revelation and no Jace, Architect of Thought. I had answers for several Elspeth, Sun's Champion (Dreadbore, Stormbreath Dragon, and even Polukranos, World Eater + Elvish Mystic forcing my opponent to -3) and Ghor-Clan Rampager's bloodrush traded with Brimaz, King of Oreskos in both games to keep me ahead on board.
