Ruhan of the Fomori is a bit of a wild card as he attacks a player at random every turn. And I believe he must attack every turn as well? Regardless, it makes for straightforward deck theory. Design is another matter. Ruhan appeared to me to be a Jeskai take on a voltron commander. Ruhan has a big undercosted body that keeps swinging. So we’re taking the voltron route and looking to really build up Ruhan into a player smasher.

• Aqueous Form allows Ruhan to go straight to the opponent and peek at our deck.

• Assault Suit is there one attachable card I could find to protect from effects like Sheoldred, Whispering One and other sacrifice effects.

• Burning Anger and Surestrike Trident are alternatives to attacking that can go around Ensnaring Bridges, Sphere of Safety, and other combat taxes.

• Champion's Helm, Mask of Avacyn, and Swiftfoot Boots are our preferred protection over Lightning Greaves. Shroud can cover Ruhan for a time but while he has shroud, we can’t stack anymore enhancements.

• Commander's Plate is an efficient piece of protection with a stat buff.

• We have a myriad of draw effects. Curiosity, Ophidian Eye, Curious Obsession, Staggering Insight, Infiltration Lens, Mask of Memory, Rogue's Gloves, and Sword of Fire and Ice.

• Cyclonic Rift is generic removal.

• Darksteel Plate is a protective piece.

• Daybreak Coronet is a stat buff with a few sweet keywords to boot. First strike is great for combat at evading combat damage triggers including deathtouch. Vigilance is great as we are so creature light and could use our big boy on defense. Lifelink can help stem inevitable bleeding.

• The Umbra auras are primarily for removal insurance but we tried to select efficient auras with decent stat boosts. Hyena Umbra, Eel Umbra, and Drake Umbra.

• Etherium Sculptor is a decent discount on our many artifacts.

• Flawless Maneuver is free single-use protection.

• Godsend is a stat buff on removal.

• Hammer of Nazahn allows us to circumvent equip costs while granting protection.

• Helm of the Host duplicates Ruhan every turn to build a swarm of big boys.

• Holy Avenger is fringe passable just for the double strike but can get out auras out for free two at a time! This is the ideal piece for a commander that goes down the middle between equipment and auras.

• Holy Mantle, Spirit Mantle, and Unquestioned Authority serve both offense and defense by allowing us to go through creatures while being protected from their abilities.

• Kusari-Gama can disincentivize blocking especially from wide boards. The artifact fire breathing helps give you leverage in those combat situations as well as just in general.

• Magebane Armor helps protect against spells and abilities that would damage our big guy.

• Mantle of the Ancients is very similar to All That Glitters but with a reanimation effect for our enhancements.

• Nettlecyst can put a lot of power on Ruhan and push him into a lethal powerhouse.

• Open the Armory and Steelshaper's Gift are cheap tutors.

• Puresteel Paladin and Sram, Senior Edificer are draw engines.

• Rip Apart is generic removal for most permanent types.

• Robe of Stars is sweet protection that gets around targeted, sweepers, destruction, exile. Vanishing is very similar but is an aura.

• Shadowspear is an efficient stat boost with keywords.

• Shielded by Faith is efficient destruction/combat protection.

• Sigarda's Aid is super cheap and allows us to ambush opponents with enhancements even putting our casted equipment directly onto Ruhan.
