Are the big Eldrazi constrcuted playable?

I play quite a bit of Temur Ramp. Even so I wonder if the new eldrazi are going to be constructed playable.

I have cards like Rattleclaw Mystic, Shaman of Forgotten Ways, Nissa, Vastwood Seer  Flip and See the Unwritten to help me cast them. Even So 10 mana is a huge investment and cards like Ruinous Path and Abzan Charm will be out in force. Is it worth it to try and cast:

Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger

Void Winnower

Desolation Twin

Breaker of Armies

The Eldrazi at 6 mana seem to be better bang for your buck in a format in which instant removal will be flying around or Heir of the Wilds will be happy to chump block your 10/10 creature?

Right now I am thinking that playing a few Conduit of Ruin and maybe 1 or 2 of the big guys at most is the best bet and even than I am not sure.

So my opinion on this is that if you want to build an eldrazi ramp deck it has to be a dedicated ramp deck. I tested something like this it was mono green and it just played ulamog, void winnower, ramp dudes, and oblivion sower....oh and ugin. The truth of the fact is that these cards are bonkers they destroy people.....but when you arent casting them the deck doesnt do anything which kind of sucks. Keep in mind yes abzan charm and ruinous path kill them with one blow (within reason) but ruinous path is a sorcery and you are usually blowing up things or exiling their cards before they can do that. They arent the easiest to get rid of but they also arent the hardest. If you want to play multiple eldrazi and just ramp to them I dont think it can be super competitive but it is fun and it will win sometimes. Goodluck! Also sorry this sounded jumbled and just bad I am really tired lol

Here's a deck which seems to work: Eldrazi: The Gold Standard

  1. I'd like to know what removal are you thinking about when you say "Instant removal will be flying around". Hero's Downfall goes out for Ruinous Path, Stoke the Flames and Lightning Strike are no more, and we are left with Exquisite Firecraft.

  2. Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger is Reanimateable. Bane of Bala Ged has 'annihilator 2', and he costs just . Desolation Twin will leave a minion behind even if countered.

I believe eldrazis will be played, but just like finishers in a deck. No playset of anyone, and no eldrazi coloress deck. Just my opinion!

I think people will try colorless Eldrazi decks, but I don't see them being extremely successful. I do see the bigger guys getting play though. I'll be using Ulamog for sure

The only constructed-playable Eldrazi is Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. You get significant value from casting him, and he's harder to remove due to indestructible.

Abzan Charm, Utter End, and Crackling Doom are really the only widely-played spells that can remove him permanently.

The way I see it, big Eldrazi are most effective in 2 types of lists: Ramp and Control. Ramp suffered huge losses from the rotation, including Courser of Kruphix and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx. There are also no 1-drop mana dorks anymore, making the whole thing less viable. That leaves Control. Azorius and Dimir both are good control color schemes. It can be argued that Azorius is the more steadfast of the two with cards like Ojutai, while Dimir is a bit greedier but can use tutors and the like. Esper combines the best of both worlds, while giving you access to both Standard-printed fetchlands, as well as Prairie Stream and Sunken Hollow. My guess is the Esper Control will be very strong this expansion, and those are the lists that you'll see some copies of Ulamog and/or Winnower.

To above: It's more conditional, but don't forget Swift Reckoning.

I'm not saying that I agree with the initial premise, or that any of these cards are viable for play, but there IS a lot of Instant removal available right now.

This is not including cards that return to hand, tap, or deal with fliers instantly.

Instant removal:

If you want to still play Temur Ramp, Savage Ventmaw may be something to consider.

I'll almost always rather cast a Savage Knuckleblade with haste on turn 3 or an Akoum Hellkite on turn 4 than cast an Eldrazi on Turn 6 or 7. It's sure a nice thing, but I just see way better ways to win in Standard by ramping.
