It's finally done —Aug. 17, 2019

Thanks for all the help guys! I finally have the deck together (for now). I lost a lot of loved cards along the way, but the deck is looking pretty amazing. Thanks for the help, please take some time, take a look and tell me what you think.

lifemtg thanks for pointing that out about the deathrender. Soul warden might not directly work with teysa, but it is an amazing commander card; though my list is extremely crowded and it does need a few cuts. You'd actually be surprised how much life that gal actually nets, but she's admittedly not great to draw after turn 5 lol

You should look at adding Bloodflow Connoisseur , Carrion Feeder , Spawning Pit , Viscera Seer and Altar of Dementia for sac outlets.

For sac fodder look to add Archon of Justice , Doomed Traveler , Doomed Dissenter , Myr Sire , Tithe Taker , Orzhov Enforcer and Ministrant of Obligation to name a few.

For card draw look to Midnight Reaper , Grim Haruspex and Greed .

Ramp using Burnished Hart and Knight of the White Orchid .

Recur your creatures using Phyrexian Reclamation and Malevolent Awakening .

Garruk's Wake wipes the board leaving your stuff intact then cast Command the Dreadhorde to take control what ever number of planeswalkers and creatures are in your opponents graveyard.

KibaAlpha thanks for the suggestions, there's a few things in there that I'm currently trying out and there's a few more things on the list. Not sure about some of those, but definitely will look into it. Any suggestions for things I could take out? My list is way over crowded

First bring your land count down to 35, 37 at the most.

I suggest removing Reveal in riches. Without the ability to play it at flash speed the odds of playing it on your turn and having it still on the board by the time your turn comes around again is slim to none. Cathars' Crusade , has nearly no value in a aristocrats build. Teysa, Orzhov Scion , she is best used as a commander for an infinite combo build. Suture Priest , unless you are going for some lifegain win con this seems pretty useless. Cliffhaven Vampire , it has nothing that synergizes with your commander. Mortify , don't need it so long as you have Archon of Justice , Anguished Unmaking and Utter End in your deck. You could add Generous Gift if you wanted to. Unmake , creature target only, leaves it limited in it's use.

KibaAlpha great suggestions. I have tended to favor creatures with the pins and needles strategy, that's what cliffhaven and suture priest are for. Cathars crusade is decent in those multi interactions where I'm killing things, making a bunch of tokens, then reanimating the thing that made the tokens. I've gotten a slew of powerful flying vigilance lifelink spirits cutting down all my opponents.

Honestly I do get a lot of use out of revel in riches, you are right that I almost never win with it, but it works well with teysa and in many situations makes more treasure than it costs in that one turn. I've also won a handful of games with it and I've almost never felt bad drawing it. I'll take it under advisement though, as it does paint an aggro target on you for the rest of the game.

Teysa, orzhov scion is an utterly broken card with all the black and white spirit action I have going. Her ability synergies perfectly with teysa karlov. Just think, trade 1 creature for 2 b/w spirits and 2 w, trade the 2 b/w spirits for 4 w, now you have 3 sac triggers and 6 w flying lifelink vigilance creatures by trading 1 creature.

Archon of justice is definitely on my list, but anguish unmaking and vindicate are a bit out of my price range. Mortify and unmake are kinda place holders, kinda like butcher of malakir and martyrs bond do for dictate of erebos and grave pact. Mortify targets enchantments, and unmake exiles so they're not useless (but they're on the list to be replaced rather than taken out so I can have more answers).

Thanks for the suggestions, seriously got me thinking about near to future changes I'll be making to improve the deck. Definitely took out a few things you suggested, and once the rest of the deck is slimmed down so will the mana. I appreciate the help because I honestly love This deck

Fair enough. Everyone's playgroup or LGS is different with their meta. If you haven't and want to take a look at a very solid Death Trigger Aristocrats build feel free to check my deck out. It's not budget but you might find something of value you can incorporate in to your own deck. Good luck and Happy Brewing.

Thanks for the advice guys the deck is finally shaping up! Still need some suggestions for cuts as I've gone and added the best of the card suggestions I've received. I'm always looking for feedback!

Hey, good version of Teysa.

Consider adding a mass reanimation engine or cards? Lots of things dying and triggering die triggers is good, but you want to repeat this process easily so you don't stall out. Athreos, God of Passage is fine, but he's not reanimating he's recurring; you have to cast the creatures he returns.

Consider Reveillark ? It's a budget way to reanimate a lot of creatures with power 2 or less which is many creatures here: all the aristocrats, afterlife creatures, Teysa herself, etc. Lark's triggers Teysa if it leaves the battlefield as a result of it dying letting you reanimate four potential creatures. Karmic Guide is another excellent way to reanimate a creature and it's a combo with Lark since Guide has 2 power. Add a sac outlet such as Viscera Seer and an aristocrat such as Zulaport Cutthroat then this combo is a win condition with unlimited die/gain life triggers from Cutthroat because both Lark and Guide are constantly dying and reanimating. Seer and Cutthroat can be reanimated with Lark.

Living Death and Command the Dreadhorde is mass reanimation. Living is also mass sacrifice since you sac all creatures you control after exiling all creatures from your graveyard and then put all the exiled creatures onto the battlefield; the saced creatures go to your graveyard. If you're gaining life then Dreadhorde is a good use of life to reanimate creatures or Planeswalkers in all players graveyards. Yes, you can gain control of your opponents cards too.

Whatever strategy you're playing with aristocrats Skullclamp is king. Consider dedicating some deck spots to budget cards that can tutor for Clamp: Open the Armory and Diabolic Tutor ?

Budget cards to consider adding:

Cards to consider cutting:

  • 2x Swamp
  • Scoured Barrens
  • Orzhov Cluestone
  • Ancient Craving
  • Death Grasp
  • Immortal Servitude: unreliable reanimation since it's not X or less it's only X.
  • Butcher of Malakir: high mana cost redundancy, already have Pact and Dicate.
  • Imperious Oligarch: least good afterlife creature here.
  • Twilight Drover: fine when sacing tokens, but very slow.
  • Crypt Ghast: better to not build your manabase around this card since you need just as much white as black. Can't count on having Urborg every game.
  • Maw of the Obzedat: five drop sac outlet, can do better than this.
  • Field of Souls
  • Open the Graves
  • Dark Prophecy: its effect is good because it triggers when tokens die, but triple black is a difficult mana cost to make with 9x Plains.

multimedia thanks for the comments! There's a lot of really useful information there, a lot of things to ponder, and some definite improvements. First off I think everyone talks about the reveillark karmic guide combo, and it's sweet, I'm totally including it. I also am in on the mad recursion, I totally forgot about living end and command is worth the life. Now there are a couple things that I wanted to point out.

  • Death grasp is like banefire, it's best used to kill someone outright. I'll think about it

  • Twilight drover gets 2 counters per death if teysa is out. Rarely you have to use his ability to grind out a couple bodies to sac but mostly he just sits there and gets really stupid big. Her serves a decent purpose and does so pretty well

  • crypt ghast is an amazing creature, I don't rely on it but bet if I don't love using him. With even 1 swamp he's great and if you have urborg then you're probably going to win. Right Now I'm more of a black zebra with white stripes so I don't mind a bunch of black mana

  • Maw of the obzedat is one of the best creatures in the deck. His ability makes each creature get +1/+1 which given he can kill enough creatures, will end the game with all the flying spirits I make

  • field of souls and open the graves don't look too cool, but they really make creature only boardwipes good, which I actually run a couple of. They can potentially get up to 4 tokens at a time, which I'm currently working on Trying to push even higher

  • Dark prophesy is a necessary evil. I Will gladly go out of my way to get the mana to cast this just because it targets tokens. That being said it is a real pain and is not at the top of my list of things I really need.

  • I'm working on working in some tutor effects, but right now I'm just using a massive draw engine to find what I need, and elixir of immortality to make sure I don't deck myself. Like I said I'm not disagreeing with you at all about your additions or subtractions, and the next step for this deck will definitely come with some of your revisions
