What we want to do turn 1 and 2.

Use various cards early game to disrupt your opponents hand, like Thoughtseize, Inquisition, and Collective Brutality. Additionally, cheap spot removal like fatal push, path to exile, lighting helix, and the ever utility Collective Brutality, allow you to maintain the board until turn 3 or 4.

What we want to do turn 3 and turn 4:

Play cards that apply pressure like Lingering Souls and Monastery Mentor. Gideon of the Trials is also a good drop if the opponent is low on swingers. Additionally, if you have the mana rock card in this deck: Coalition Relic, it's a great turn 3 drop to jam out a 6 drop like Elspeth or one of the Titans on turn 4. A turn 3 arena isn't the worst, but feels bad. Turn 4 we want to see a Gideon or Nahiri. Both these 4 drop walkers apply pressure or gas in some ways. Gideon lets us flood the board and get a buff body if were sure our opponent doesn't have a path. Also sometimes you can just drop a Gideon, get his emblem and swing in for the game for a bunch of spirits, it happens. Nahiri is gas, and a clock with Emrakul sitting in the deck. Shes also more removal, which we need plenty of in a mid range deck.

Thoughts on random card choices:

Coalition Relic: This card has mixed feelings for me. It sometimes leads to crazy fast ramp into big dudes, but other times it's dead. I love it though and it feels right.

Ob Nixilis Reignited: While not the strongest walker, this things an additional copy of phyrexian arena thats optional. Its also, you guessed it, more removal.

The Titans: I wanted an excuse to run some of my favorite titans in modern, and thats basically it.
