Sideboard

Maybeboard

This is a deck that I am working toward building and would like any input on it or just comments on anything that may help the deck or add a fun spin.

General plan when building this deck

  1. Be able to find a home or place to use Geist of Saint Traft .

  2. Put together a deck that has the Knight of the Reliquary + Retreat to Coralhelm combo and be able to use it.

  3. Possibly have some fun playing with Glittering Wish.

Reasons for the cards I have

Creatures

Non-Creatures

  • Dromoka's Command: Enchantment removal and burn spell stopper sometimes, Mostly here for the +1/+1 and fight a creature combo.

  • Mana Leak : Early and easy counter spell, kind of bad late game and non-synergistic with Path to Exile.

  • Path to Exile: Amazing kill spell.

  • Remand : Counter a spell and draw a card is real nice with our low curve, but not getting rid of the card we counter is a downside.

  • Spell Snare : This is modern, this will counter plenty of spells that are relevant.

  • Retreat to Coralhelm: I'll have a section for this card and it's fun interactions.

  • Glittering Wish: I'll also have to save this card's explanation for a more detailed section.

Retreat to Coralhelm

Retreat to Coralhelm

  • It can grow your Knight of the Reliquary to a pretty large size.

  • Tap Knight of the Reliquary , sac a forest/plains, go find a fetch land, untap Knight with Retreat to Coralhelm, search up a forest/plains and repeat until your knight is large and hopefully able to win the game right there.

  • With this combo, I like to run Lotus Cobra, because you will start to get a whole tone of mana that you can use on a Glittering Wish into one of your sideboard cards.

  • Say you don't get to pull off all this fun combo shenanigans, at least you still have the tap/untap trigger to manipulate the board or the scry 1 to try and dig to something needed.

  • With a fetchland on board, you can tap an opposing creature before combat or just use the fetch at the end of their turn and tap one of their open lands. Leaving you with a safer turn.

Glittering Wish

Glittering Wish

  • Allows us to "sideboard" mid game or just to toolbox for something needed.

  • Essentially adds 4 copies of each of our mutlicolored sideboard cards, to our main deck.

  • I'd say it's most useful for grabbing Gaddock Teeg or Sigarda, Host of Herons.

Sideboard Cards

Sided in normally

  • Dispel: These get brought in against Control and answer heavy decks.

  • Kitchen Finks : Good against Burn or answer heavy decks. They make great wish targets game one, but I feel are better in mainboard after that.

  • Qasali Pridemage : Same as Finks game one and mainboarded in against Affinity or decks with need to answer enchantments.

  • Spellskite : Brought in against Infect and Boggles mostly.

  • Thrun, the Last Troll: Brought in against Control or other answer heavy decks. He is very sticky and hard to remove.
