4-5k maybe?
My most exspensive card is one of my copies of goyf, or a foil snapcaster mage
January 1, 2015 8:41 p.m.
I've got 2 commander decks that are around $500 each and my most expensive/ most prized card is the foil Dissension Breeding Pool, which is $85.
January 1, 2015 8:49 p.m.
Probably around $1500. My B/W 'casual' deck is worth almost half of it. A playset of Sneak Attack, Cryptic Command and a couple of Jace, the Mind Sculptor combined with a bunch of common, uncommon and 'dollar' rares making up the rest.
January 1, 2015 9 p.m.
I probably have a solid $500 in cards. Best card would be Daybreak Coronet

I'm going to need a little bit. I'll be back later with some improbably high number.
Most valuable single card in my collection is, off the top of my head, The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale.
Scratch that. I forgot Imperial Seal jumped recently.
January 1, 2015 9:08 p.m.
Epochalyptik did you pull the seal from a pack or did you buy it at some point?
January 1, 2015 9:12 p.m.
Now I have an excuse to finish entering my collection ASAP. Be back when I'm done, I'm maybe 1/3 of the way through it at the moment.
January 1, 2015 9:15 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #13
@-x-Juuzou-x-x-: I bought it for much less than it was worth, and that was years ago.
I've never even seen a pack of P3K. I generally don't deal in sealed product.

My collection... hrm... probably about 2-3K.
My most expensive card is currently a Russian Polluted Delta, but I'm looking to sell that at some point. My actual most expensive cards is probably a toss up between a JTMS and foil Abrupt Decay.

Currently at around $800, only counting rares and a couple good uncommons/commons.
My most expensive cards are Goblin Guide and Polluted Delta.

I think my entire collection would go around 4-5k$, and I have a lot of valuable cards, like in my Sliver EDH I have Sliver Queen, Sliver Legion... Oh and the Tarmogoyf I got in my recent Modern Master booster box.
January 1, 2015 10:16 p.m.
im sitting at around 5 grand on cards. most expensive would be my foil JTMS and promo jace beleren. rarity wise i have a artist proof huntmaster signed.
January 1, 2015 10:22 p.m.
This thread keeps making me 'oh, how much is that?'. how informational.

-x-Juuzou-x-x-: Heh, sorry. A Russian foil Polluted Delta goes for about 900-1100.
...taking that into account, my collection is more like 4-5K. :x

This is exacly why i love asking such question. It makes me "ooo i never heard of that card" or "never knew that card is worth that much". I also find it interesting whether certain collectors overlap cards and by how much percentage.

I estimate my collection around 10-12k (partially dependent on how one values the particular conditions of my higher-end cards). The spiciest pieces are currently:
Unlimited LP Time Walk
Unlimited NM Timetwister
Revised NM Underground Sea
Revised LP Volcanic Island
NM Mana Drain
MMA Pack-fresh Tarmogoyf
Revised NM Tropical Island
NM Force of Will
January 1, 2015 10:36 p.m.
I knew the delta was expensive, but I didn't expect the Abrupt Decay to be so much. But I suppose I avoid modern like a plague, so It didn't dawn on me initially that a modern staple would be so expensive foil.

I have two Legacy decks totaling around 2k. Karakas, Dark Depths, Savannah, promo Cloudposts, 2x All Is Dust, Sensei's Divining Top, 4x Primeval Titan, and all three Eldrazi make up the money in 12 Post. RDW has Scalding Tarn, 4x Goblin Guide, some other fetches, 4x Chain Lightning, etc.
I have a fairly vast collection to be sorted through, but would place it around 6-7K. Would love to get my paws on The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale...

-x-Juuzou-x-x-: It's also a big deal in Legacy, I believe.
January 1, 2015 10:45 p.m.
My collection is worth something close to 7 grand, My most valuable card is either Volcanic Island or Underground Sea. it seems that these 2 duals are always in competition to be the most valuable dual.
January 1, 2015 10:57 p.m.
My collection is probably around $600-700, the majority of which is my Melira Pod list. And I bought the most expensive card that I have. :( Linvala, Keeper of Silence.
January 1, 2015 11:02 p.m.
No clue on total value, way too many cards but most valuable (currently) is a Liliana of the Veil and Underground Sea. My favorite is a toss up between my foil demon collection, foil fetch collection and probably foil thoughtseize.

I seem poor compared to most people on this site :-(. My total collections only including cards $4 or more totals to about $800. I usually trade or sell expensive cards if I pull one, and I don't buy many cards over $10, so my most expensive card is probably just a lowly Brimaz, King of Oreskos that sits on the front page of my trade binder. Honorable mention Arcbound Ravager and Cavern of Souls.
January 1, 2015 11:46 p.m.
I literally only have cards from RTR forward...and very few of those. I started playing when Theros was released.
So my collection is worth like nothing.
Best value would be in the shocks/fetches I have.

Rough estimate based on TappedOut's TCG price estimator comes out to about $9500.
On top of that, my EDH deck is $4650 or so (counting the foils and alters)
Plus I have about $500 in sealed product and peripherals.
Probably another $500 in bulk rares, commons, and uncommons (assuming $0.10 for rares and $7ish for each 1000 C/U).
Total: $15,000 ish, rounded to the nearest thousand (and hoping I'm not missing anything, which I probably am).
BTW, I'm looking to sell this stuff. If you want anything, let me know.
January 1, 2015 11:53 p.m.
Still haven't finished catalogueing my collection, but the process has come with some pleasant surprises.

The most expensive card I have ever owned was a Huntmaster of the Fells
Flip while it was 40ish dollars.
January 2, 2015 2:19 a.m.
And finished.
Estimate on the total collection: approx. $12000.
Highlights:
- Unlimited Ancestral Recall - Has a smallish stain on it, but still likely my highest value card.
- Unlimited Timetwister - Some wear visible on the back
- Unlimited Underground Sea - Same condition as the Timetwister
- Revised Underground Sea x2, Volcanic Island x2, and Tundra - Various states of wear.
The state of wear on some of my cards would surely drop that estimate down, but there's a number of fairly high-value promotional cards I have that either aren't in T/O database or aren't listed on TCGPlayer. So I'm calling it a wash at ~$12K.

My collection...probably about 700 dollars? Not too impressive, but I'm seventeen so it's not awful either...the most expensive card I own is probably Elspeth, Sun's Champion.

Lots. The last time I inventoried my Legacy/Modern land collection, that piece alone was about $10K. Of those, the most notable are a couple M/NM Unlimited Underground Seas. I've been playing and collecting for a very long time, and spent way too much money on stuff during a period of time when I had a good new job and no car payment to make every month.

Well currently, the decks I have up on here, which are decks I own and carry around to play, total up to $2,002. Which I never thought about until I seen this thread and added them all up. I have no idea on the rest of my collection, but guesstimate would have to to another $1,000 to $1,500.

Probably my beta Ancestral Recall. One of the few older cards I have left.
January 2, 2015 12:21 p.m.
Probably around 2k.
Most of my value comes from my EDH decks, one being a foiled esper superfriends, the other being a Kaalia of the Vast deck.
My trading binder is worth probably...400$?
Most expensive card is in my edh and is Jace, the Mind Sculptor
I actually have ALOT of 20$ value cards, but more than that it starts to get rare.
January 3, 2015 2:42 a.m.
The most expensive card I have is Karakas, part of the D&T deck I have, which is around 1500. Average value of an EDH deck is 200, so 600 there. 2 modern decks of about 250 each, 500 more. A pauper cube, another 200. Collection and various other pieces I value around 500.
Ballpark estimation of 3.5k investment.

Femme_Fatale says... #43
I actually haven't even finished going through all my commons, so actual total investment is probably about 1k higher than what is shown (combination of haves and trades). Please note that I (and pretty much everyone else with a large collection) lose(s) about $50 of value in my cards every day. Prices plummet more than they increase.
January 3, 2015 9:36 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #45
I don't see how you're coming up with a $50 per day loss.
January 3, 2015 9:41 p.m.
Femme_Fatale says... #46
I go and check on my tcg mid total price collection every day, while the amount it plummets changes from day to day (and would probably see a larger curve graph change if I examined months and weeks), $50 has become a general mid point I've given the decrease in value for my cards. Keep in mind though, what is dropping is individual cards that don't see play in formats, and they are dropping in very little increments. But due to the size of the collection, the numbers make up for my loss.
I just recently bought $200 worth of cards and added the Nahiri edh pre-con list to my collection. But even then, I used to be at $4-4.5k back when I first catalogued my collection and stopped at my bulk uncommons. That was about maybe, 3-4 months ago. I'll start keeping tabs on my collection and properly recording them to see what the actual results are, but $50 just feels right for the amount of value I've lost in my collection.
I've also been alerted to playing cycles in magic, that prices plummet around these times and then increase back in the summer. So that could have something to do with it.

Damn, seriously? $15k tied up in MtG? I no longer feel bad for keeping my Legacy deck fully built even though I have about zero time available to actually play currently.
January 3, 2015 9:55 p.m.
Epochalyptik says... #48
@Femme_Fatale: I guess that's where the rub is. I make it a point not to own anything that doesn't see play. The bulk never changes value, really, so there's no loss there.
@fluffybunnypants: To be fair, that's far more than I invested in the game. I could cash out now (I'm trying to) and probably double or triple my investment, depending on how lucky I get with buyers.
January 3, 2015 9:57 p.m.
fluffybunnypants says... #49
It took my a couple re-reads, but I'm assuming you meant to say far more than you invested.
I've always viewed cards predominantly as capital. As such, very typically, they get traded up or liquidated with a fair amount of frequency.
January 3, 2015 10:33 p.m.

Fixed.
That's basically what I do, but I haven't really been active in the trading community for a long time, so things have kind of been sitting around.

I am always curious whats the total value of other peopels collection and their most prized card.
Also if you use tcgplayer or mtgprice or deckbox also if you can, post link or a picture. I always love perusing through peoples trade binders.
