Kaldheim Brainstorming

Tribal has always been somewhat of a white whale for me. I've been enamored with the idea of everything synergizing with everything, but it always came out bland and stale. But the Wizards decided to print this:

Your tribal tribal dreams have come to fruition! My deck idea is to have a Golos, Tireless Pilgrim as the commander, tutor up Inventors' Fair, and then tutor up this, so we have access to Maskwood Nexus all the time. So, some of the obvious includes would be artifact tutors for redundancy (Fabricate, Tezzeret the Seeker), recursion (Regrowth), good artifact tribal cards (Door of Destinies, Didgeridoo, Cryptic Gateway), and the best tribal cards WotC has to offer! There are some other promising includes from Kaldheim, like these:

So, what cards am I missing? Any whacky tribal synergies I've forgotten? Any staple Golos includes? Let me know, and as always, Happy Tapping!

Why not run Morophon? I mean I understand using Golos, sure, but if this Nexus is destroyed or worse, exiled, your entire deck falls apart. At least with Morophon, you get a little bit of an insurance policy.

Though, admittedly, it locks you into a tribe itself and you want the flexibility of venturing outside for more synergy.

There are two cards, Arcane Adaptation and Conspiracy that give all creatures you control another type. Also there is Amorphous Axe which you could make copies of, too.

Also if you're wanting to cheat creatures into play and have enough multicolored ones, Dragon Arch works. As do Ragemonger and Edgewalker.

Yeah, those are great! Edgewalker is amazing because he also ramps you on notable card Battletide Alchemist. Oh, and I just thought of the best card for the deck: Winota, Joiner of Forces. This card is broken, giving you every creature you could ever want.

Winota won't work the way you suspect she will. If you have Nexus out, all creatures have the Human subtype, meaning it shuts her off, unfortunately.

Oh wait, no I may be wrong. Nexus only cares about artifact creatures in play, yes?

So she would see all creatures in your deck as Human. Okay, yeah that works then.

Nope I'm ignorant.

Okay so yes, Nexus shuts Winota off as all creatures in play (and elsewhere) are Humans.

My confusion was reading off of Mythic Spoiler. I accidentally read the typeline (Artifact) as part of the text box (misreading it as Artifact Creatures)

My mistake.

I would say Lord of the Unreal would be an auto include even though it is double blue. Also Depala, Pilot Exemplar and Unesh, Criosphinx Sovereign could be very good. A lot of the small tribes have very powerful payoffs. Here are some more.Midnight Entourage, Wirewood Savage, The dragons of tarkir series, including Atarka, World Render and Silumgar, the Drifting Death, Risen Reef, Seshiro the Anointed, and many, many more.

  • Mcat1999: I'm using Golos, Tireless Pilgrim because personally, I'd rather opt for a more glass-cannon build with consistency (I know, that sentence sounds weird to me too), instead of solid but neutered gameplan. Golos makes sure we always have access to Maskwood Nexus, and Morophon, while giving you one tribe, makes your deck a lot less explosive. Also, thanks for the Winota, Joiner of Forces heads-up. I wanted that to work so bad, but that's one more slot, I guess! Also, those suggestions are great. I'd already thought of Risen Reef and Lathliss, Dragon Queen, but the rest are amazing cards I'd never have found.

Skyshroud Poacher and Moggcatcher search for any creature and puts it into play. Goblin Recruiter can stack your library with all of your creatures.

You're also going to want the max amount of tutors for the Nexus: Enlightened Tutor, Reshape, Tinker, Transmute Artifact, Clutch of the Undercity, Crookclaw Transmuter, Dimir House Guard.

I'd also recommend some good Shapeshifter cards, so you have things to do/find with these cards even without the Nexus. Maybe Altered Ego, Chameleon Colossus, Crib Swap, Duplicant, Evil Twin, Masked Vandal, Unsettled Mariner, and definitely Mirror Entity and Realmwalker. Morphon himself is also a good include.

Finally, you might want the Kindred cards that are good: Kindred Discovery, Kindred Dominance, maybe Kindred Boon.

Sounds like a fun idea!

Maskwood Nexus + Bishop of Wings + Sling-Gang Lieutenant

Am looking for a better card to replace Sling-Gang with.

Also, Karn, the Great Creator could be good if Maskwood Nexus gets exiled.

StopShot I'm going to experiement with Utopia Mycon as it's cheaper and bringing in green opens up coco+eldamris call.

You don't end up dealing infinite damage but you do gain infinite life, infinite blockers and infinite mana on command. Also its much cheaper cost so paying 2 for eldamris call before playing another 1 for the fungus means you can get this off reliably? ish?
