Stitcher's Graft

Artifact — Equipment

Equipped creature gets +3/+3. Whenever equipped creature attacks, it doesn't untap during its controller's next untap step. Whenever Stitcher's Graft becomes unattached from a permanent, sacrifice that permanent.

Nice deck (+1), have you considered Grafted Wargear? Doesn't come out as quickly as Stitcher's Graft, but lets you repeatedly equip for free. Hope this helps.

ClockworkSwordfish on What are equipments with downsides?

The most interesting choice for this is almost certainly Assault Suit - your opponent will be forced to pass his creature around on everyone else's turn, and since you control the equipment, the creature can't attack you but it can attack its owner.

Grafted Wargear and Vulshok Gauntlets are older versions of Grafted Exoskeleton and Heavy Arbalest. As someone else mentioned, however, you cannot sacrifice an opponent's creature even if you yank a Grafted Wargear out of it.

Stitcher's Graft also slows creatures down, Peregrine Mask stops them from attacking, and Bloodthirsty Blade is maybe better than Assault Suit in a multiplayer game but is useless one-on-one and doesn't even need Magnetic Theft's help to get stuck to a guy.

If I may make a suggestion - since you're already running a number of equipment, it might be worth it to add white so you can pilot Sunforger. It can play a Magnetic Theft right from your library, making it easier to ensure you can do your little trick. Don't forget that adding white means you also have access to Open the Armory and the like!

My wife was so excited about this Commander, and we built a similar deck. Here's a few things we found, if you're interested. One with Nature is a cheap aura that will ramp you every time Tahngarth deals damage.Stitcher's Graft is a weird card that makes it so you're probably not attacking with Tahngarth anymore, but don't need to to donate him. Mask of Memory will let you draw cards regardless of whose turn he is swinging on. Obsidian Battle-Axe gives him free haste, and O-Naginata makes him a CLOCK. That's all, thanks for making the video, I think your build is much stronger than ours, we'll definitely incorporate some of these ideas.

Argy on Mechanics that never really worked

This conversation is just warming up.

I must be the most out there brewer in the world, based on a lot of the comments here.

Examples below.

Before I get to those, I totally agree about Outlast.

We couldn't even make it work in my friend's deck that had Abzan Falconer in it.

As people pointed out, the mechanic was just too slow.

landofMordor if you missed the Theros block then I'm not surprised that you don't see the beauty of Hypnotic Siren.

Thing was crazy. It gives you an early flier, good for Aggro, or a LATE flier, good for Control, that leaves a Creature behind if the Enchanted Creature dies.

I had it in so many decks.

StuBi has only built three decks in his life.

The first one was Fleet of Foot, which went heavy on the Dash theme.

To this day his favourite card is Sprinting Warbrute.

As with a lot of these mechanics, they sometimes work best when you only have a few cards with them, in your deck.

The most successful deck I ever built for StuBi, if not THE most successful deck I ever built, focused on Melding Gisela, the Broken Blade and Bruna, the Fading Light, and then equipping them with Stitcher's Graft.

Angelic High

Unfortunately StuBi doesn't write match reports, but the thing won so many FNMs that it wasn't funny.

12/13 with Flying, first strike, vigilance, and lifelink coming atcha.

BOOM!!

Bolster is amazing in the DTK Cube I built.

Tarkir Skies

Mostly because of Enduring Scalelord.

I agree that it wasn't the best in Constructed.

Finally, banding.

Here, said my friend, build me a Mini Cube out of all these old cards I have.

(Argy looks at cards, sees that just about every Creature card has Banding on it)

Do not put Leviathan in that Cube, another friend said, no one will EVER pick that card.

The first time we play the Cube NO ONE is picking or , so I start to. We are playing 2HG. I happen to be partnering with my friend that said not to put Leviathan in.

Don't you pick that card, he warns me.

On the first go around of the last pack, I pick Leviathan.

Great, he says, we have lost.

We got ahead in the game, mostly through me saccing two Islands so that we could have a 10/10 Leviathan blocker sitting on the field.

It got to a stage in the game where our Opponents were down to six life, with a 2/2 and a 2/3 on the field.

I sacced two Islands so Leviathan could attack, paid to Band it with Icatian Infantry, and hit for game.

Yahoooooooooo!!

None of these anecdotes prove that any of the mechanics are great, just that they CAN work if you a build a creative deck that utilises them well.

Plus ... I just like telling Magic stories.

Basalt Monolith out, Dowsing Dagger  Flip in Im a bit meh about paying 3 for a manaboost next turn, but DD is a solid mana rock when transformed. Should be easy to flip.

Bladed Bracers out, Manriki-Gusari in Manriki gives more utility cast+equip cost the same

Clock of Omens out, Voltaic Key in Feels better value.

Golem-Skin Gauntlets out, Sai of the Shinobi in GSG good buffer, but prefer free equip of SotS

Gorgon's Head out, Darksteel Plate in GH faster as build up, but Plate is a game winner.

Neurok Hoversail out, Deathrender in flying good but cheating out a creature super fun.

Smuggler's Copter out, Ugin, the Spirit Dragon in Not that many creatures so crewing could be a problem. Ugin is favourable board wipe and well, just ugin and awesome.

Stitcher's Graft out, Ghostfire Blade in since Ive added more colourless creatures GFB seems good and without untaping downside.

Sigil of Distinction out, Mox Opal in Metalcraft easy for free to cast mana rock

Temple Bell out, Hammer of Nazahn in Hammer frees up mana for casting>drawing more. Bell just draws for everyone once

Torpor Orb out, Elspeth, Knight-Errant in torpor conditional on meta, plus likely someone else will play. EKE provides, chumps, buff and ultimate is basically game ove

Hey there! Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you; I've been rather busy. I can't see your deck, so I don't know what you're already running, but I would recommend cards like Grafted Wargear, Grafted Exoskeleton, Sunforger, Deathrender, Masterwork of Ingenuity, Barbed Battlegear, Bonesplitter, and Stitcher's Graft. If you don't already have them in the deck, I would also recommend a large number of Act of Treason effects, especially repeatable ones like Captivating Crew. Good luck!

This happened at FNM in Memphis.

StuBi attached Stitcher's Graft to Brisela, Voice of Nightmares.

12/13 with all the keywords.

Rude.

baynne thanks for the comment! Stitcher's Graft looks cool. I may test it out! Thanks!

multimedia thanks for the suggestions! I have a Mana Confluence so I think I'll throw that in, I guess I'll think about the other two. Stoneforge Mystic is new to the list of possible upgrades since I recently added all those equipment. My problem with her so far is that the majority of my equipment are very low cost, weakening her second ability. So she ends up being a $15 Open the Armory. Thanks again!
