Sands of Time

Artifact

Each player skips his or her untap step.

At the beginning of each player's upkeep, that player simultaneously untaps each tapped artifact, creature, and land he or she controls and taps each untapped artifact, creature, and land he or she controls.

I really like your Alibou list! It's a fair chunk different than mine, but my guess is that we play is fairly different metas. My playgroup doesn't do stax too much, so i've stayed away from them in my build. It's cool to see a deck list that utilizes cards like Ethersworn Canonist and Lodestone Golem. Sands of Time looks chaotic as hell, and pretty synergistic with Alibou.

Also, the infect win conditions are fun. Grafted Exoskeleton is terrifying on Alibou.

I like seeing the graveyard interactions in the deck, I ended up cutting a lot of that from my deck as it doesn't directly synergize with Alibou, but Scrap Trawler, Goblin Welder and Sun Titan can do wonderful things together.

I have a question somewhat unrelated to this deck, I have an Imotekh the Stormlord deck which does a lot of artifact graveyard shennanigans and runs Kuldotha Forgemaster. How has that card played out for you? I've found it a little slow sometimes, but it also looks like it can do insane things. What makes for a good artifact shell around Kuldotha?

You could use the tapping ability for stax, e.g. Static Orb , Storage Matrix , Dream Tides , Sands of Time

Verity Circle seems cost-efficient. Maybe Toothy, Imaginary Friend ?

Mishra's Workshop Seat of the Synod Hurkyl's Recall for sure.

Should consider Expedition Map for fetching and abusing Academy Ruins . If you lean heavier into stax, you should look at 1 cmc cantrip sac artifacts, it will help you grind value. Chromatic Star Chromatic Sphere . Also, Aether Spellbomb should replace Legacy's Allure .

Personally, I think leaning more into stax is a good idea with this deck. All sorts of great artifacts you could abuse Howling Mine Phyrexian Revoker Torpor Orb Pithing Needle Mana Web Orb of Dreams Tangle Wire

Sands of Time has a lot of potential here as well.

I have a yidris chaos deck that is hands down the most fun deck I have ever played. Have you considered: Yidris, Maelstrom Wielder , Shared Fate , Storm Cauldron and Burgeoning , Havoc Festival , Choice of Damnations , Timesifter , Sands of Time , or Master of Predicaments ?

I have never had great luck with Wild Evocation , it usually acts as a more group hug card than chaos. I would try Elkin Lair .

If you want a chaotic wincon, Reins of Power has never failed to disappoint.

Thanks a lot for this suggestion ClockworkSwordfish!

Actually, I knew about this combo, but for some reason it did 't struck me that Sands of Time kept permanents phased out...

I'll try to stay mono-Blue though, but it should do the trick. And then Taniwha and Savor the Moment in the same turn to give it pseudo haste maybe. Or just damage and mill the opponent faster.

If you want to phase your opponent's stuff out, a way to really make it hurt is by throwing in Sands of Time . Permanents phase in or out during the untap step, meaning if a card's phased out and you skip the untap step, then it will never come back!

Problem is, if there's no untap step, then cards with phasing aren't phasing out either, so you need a way to manually move them. Reality Ripple is an option in-colour, but the real trick is to use Equipoise . Keep your board slim, and your opponent's creatures, artifact and even lands will phase out en masse.

Thank you!

I'm interested to know more about Sands of Time it looks like you can make some things like Mana Vault, Grim Monolith and Basalt Monolith get a lot of value, but I can see there much more than that.
