Error Fix

Lord_Zaint, 13 years ago

Dropped down the mainboard to 60 cards, it was 62 due to some overlooks. Helped the mana curve a bit with some minor changes.

Updating to clean up the comments section. I'm still trying to figure out a way to get Olivia Voldaren in the main board. Not sure what I should take out.

SB:

-3 Slagstorm

+3 Rolling Temblor

very minor change, but thought it should be noted. 1st and foremost, it has flashback. that alone makes it have better symmetry. the 2nd point being that it's 2R, not 1RR, which makes it infinitely more versatile, and no longer competes with Dissipate. lastly, and very important, it does not hit flying creatures, so my insectile abberation lives the board wipe. AND i can flash it back, which is basically dealing 2 damage to everything, +2 damage to something else with a burning vengeance in play.

I know you all may think I'm crazy for the Sutured Ghoul, but he one-shots people, Doom Blade won't kill it, and with Urabrask, your opponent is never going to see the 10/10+ dude coming...

The Shapeshifter

Harreh, 13 years ago

Added 2 Vesuvan Shapeshifter.

Removed Kiss of the Amesha and Guile.

Removed Azorius Signet and added an Island and a Plains.

Stillson, 13 years ago

Made some changes based on playtesting last night. The build as it existed needed some creature removal, as Consecrated Sphinx and Delver of Secrets  Flip proved to be huge problems. So +3 Go for the Throat and +1 Victim of Night taking out 2x Mindshrieker and 2x Jace, Memory Adept. Jace is just too slow late to the party a lot of the time. Then +1 Ambush Viper and -1 Unburial Rites as I thought the deck needed another creature.

Also some sideboard changes to make blue match-ups a little better. Added 2x Thrun the Last Troll], 2x Bramblecrush (to deal with planeswalkers), and 3x Autumn's Veil. Took out 2x Black Sun's Zenith, 3x Mental Misstep, 1x Naturalize and 1x Gnaw to the Bone.

I have a feeling that the new sorin is going to be an instant add in. Will only make it more control and closer to super friends.

Mainboard Update

Steimtime, 13 years ago

Added a second Snapcaster Mage in place of a Negate. Not sure how I feel about it, but I'm going to playtest it anyways. I still have the ability to counter 10 spells + 2x Snapcaster Mages, and I sb ANOTHER Negate for early Shrine/Planeswalker trouble. Also, still looking for some solid answers against U/W Control.

Update 1

ghost89, 13 years ago

After play testing a very rough version of this deck, I've determined that Apostle's Blessing is an absolute four of. Arc Trail was under-performing considering that I already have mass removal in Slagstorm and pinging ability in Gut Shot and Shock. I'm considering splashing four dual lands to play the Apostle's Blessing, but right now I find that I usually only have one mana free anyway.

Other than that revelation, the most major changes have come in the sideboard. I've decided to make the predominant focus of the sideboard a splash of blue to counter control decks. 4 Sulfur Falls for the needed blue mana, 4 Turn Aside (the best standard card in terms of protecting your permanents imho) and Combust to handle late game threats. I kept two Whipflare and one Rolling Temblor to aid in board wipe against aggro and token decks.

Any suggestions here? Maybe on the sideboard? I'm considering going all out blue in the sideboard, including adding an Island and two Negate. Part of me think's Apostle's Blessing isn't enough protection. Maybe I should find slots for 2 to 4 Swiftfoot Boots? But I have no idea what I'd drop...

Also I would like some sideboard ideas too.
