Messed with it a bit. Gnaw to bone was not useful early enough. So the plan is: drop them wolves, constant attack, some creature control from Nightfall Predator and Prey Upon, some emergency Naturalize, curse and enchant for nasty advantage. And yes, this is all from one set. Cause its casual.

Tempered Steel Sideboard

I've thought long and hard about the tempered steel matchup, and i realized something... i have way too much sideboard against kessig wolf run. all i really need is those Phyrexian Metamorphs for the thruns, and the Spellskites... what will Flashfreeze do? counter a Primeval Titan? that's what Dissipate MB is for.

as for tempered steel... what do i have there? a few Ancient Grudges, and i suppose Ratchet Bombs to get up to 3 and kill off the Tempered Steels? i don't think that will help much...

so im putting in more sideboard for tempered steel, and fast aggro in general in the form of Blasphemous Act... now before you say its a bad card, think about it. when 2 tempered steel's are out and giving +4/+4, i need a board wiper. considering the board will consist of a memnite, vault skirge, legionnaire, origin spellbomb token, and a delver, maybe even a glint hawk? that puts it down to 3-4 mana for an end-all board wiper in red, that doesn't compete with Dissipate in the heavy mono-colored slot.

so for now, -2 Flashfreeze and +2 blaphemous act. i may even put more blasphemous act and get rid of the lone arc trail in the sideboard... or possibly a ratchet bomb since tokens aren't the most popular in my meta.

Changed the mana base and made the deck more BUG instead of BGu. Streamlined it with ponders, mana leak, and birds. Made a sideboard. Excited to see your responses bringing it to 1/13/12 FNM. Comments/Suggestions!

I had won a wednesday night magic with this deck in an earlier form; however, I feel that now more players are comfortable with werewolves and the evolution of the top netdecks for this block have rendered this deck pretty weak.

I found I was substituting Thrun, the Last Troll in about every 4 out of 5 games. I decided just to make him mainboard.

I really hate Daybreak Ranger  Flip. Every time he's in my hand I wish he was something else (unless there's lots of flying on the board).

I feel that this deck played more consistently when I had Gatstaf Shepherd  Flip. However, I substituted him out for Birds of Paradise. The flow of me dropping werewolves each turn feels janky now

I rarely get to see Mayor of Avabruck  Flip play. When he does get out though, he wins most games.

Loss Conditions:

  • I'm not getting enough of my low mana-cost cards early on. Kruin Outlaw  Flip/Instigator Gang  Flip come up too often, and not Mayor of Avabruck  Flip.

  • I find that I typically get controlled hard early game and then start drawing nothing but mana after turn 4.

  • Mana seems well-tuned, however, about half my games I'm flooded or screwed.

  • Any opponent's creature with more than 5 toughness typically is beyond my control.

Suggestions on how to make this deck more interesting to play are wholly welcome. I wish this deck had more control/draw. I also REALLY enjoy it when Manabarbs is my win condition. A way to make this fit in mainboard would be great.

Tested this against a few decks, it's not a bad idea. I'm going to start tweaking it and developing a sideboard so I can take it to a FNM. Please comment!

I added a Sunforger package that includes more removal (mostly tucking) and one counterspell. I also added in some non-Giant utility guys like Wall of Denial, Duergar Hedge-Mage and more tribe support w/ Taurean Mauler, Urza's Incubator, Mistform Warchief, and Feudkiller's Verdict.

I eliminated most of the tribal/support cards that don't do anything w/o help (Xenograft/Deep-Slumber Titan. Kusari-Gama is back in to punish chump blockers. Finally, I padded out the lands w/ Spinerock Knoll and Ancient Amphitheater. I'm avoiding adding in too many non-basics because I'm now running Blood Moon.

More changes. Took Forbidden Alchemy out of the list altogether. Also, -1 Unburial Rites, and +3 Mana Leak.

Removed the Acidic Slimes (Better in the side) and added 3 Mind-shriekers (they synergise well with the decks silly mana curve), took out a single bird of paradise for the same reason - milling a bird isn't a nice thing to do with a Mindshrieker.

Replaced Fireball with Red Sun's Zenith, making it fair better against decks that would summon the creature from the graveyard. Fireball is now in the side deck to replace either Red Sun's Zenith or Devil's Play when facing more than one opponent.

Tested Infernal Plunge, but decided not to keep it. This deck looses much of its speed when made to sacrifice creatures, as Myr Turbine needs those Myrs on the field to bring out other core creatures.

Got 5th place in the local FNM, out of about 40 people too. I feel pretty good about the core of the deck, but I know I can make it more streamlined for consistency.

-1 Splinterfright : never really did anything for me other than beeing a creature in the graveyard -1 Mirror-mad Phantasm : same, it's really expensive and it needs 2 more mana to be effective, overall simply not good enough +1 silent departure : really helps against aggro, and the flashback makes it really relevant +1 skaab ruinator : removing 3 creatures sucks, but sometimes you really need a blocker and this one does the job real fine

I had first designed it to be a mono green deck, but the slight addition of blue has created a much faster more resilient deck. More solutions to more problems; simple as that.

Another concept deck, give your opponents artifacts (if they don't have them) and control, destroy, copy at will. The idea was to lock them down and then kill them via vise/creatures/storm seeker. However, the reality is that when it wins it's often just creature kills.

-4x Blight mamba, +3 Ichorclaw Myr, +1 Plague Stinger. reasoning because i never have enought lands to use regen, by the time i have 5-7 lands ive either won or lost the match. -2 forest, +1 Swamp +1 Ghost Quarter. lands when even dont let me draw enough black and ghost for anti inkmoth.
