v2.4 - Shadows Over Innistrad Update!!! 241 votes!

VexenX, 9 years ago

Sorry for the delay on this Update, this was not an easy choice to make! There were quite a few cards to consider, but only one that made the final cut. I only got feedback from a couple people, so if anyone else has an opinion, please let me know.

For full descriptions on why these changes were made, please refer to the Change Log section of the Primer. To understand why other cards in this set did not make the cut for me refer to the Omissions part of the Primer. PLEASE leave me feedback on these changes. Getting someone else's point of view can make all of the difference.

I would like to thank everyone so much for your support and feedback! This deck would not be where it is today without you. Shout out to Guerte, Thrasymachus0 and Boscogn for the consistent support!!!

MTGO Victory #1 2-0! "Just for Fun'

Aelifre, 9 years ago

My first match was against a Mono White humans/equipment deck and I almost lost one of the games until a top decked Accursed Witch  Flip That I was able to play and sacrifice to flip it and drain him for the last two! The other game was an easy one-sided game that I took easily.

2016/04/15 FNM: 2-1. First test.

Spinifex, 9 years ago

Yeah, technically it was 2-2, since I missed the first round and got an auto-loss, but it's the matches that count.

The Matches

  • 0-2 against BW Edldrazi Control: I flooded both games, but that is no excuse. I can't recall much of the first game, except that I didn't see any planeswalkers or any of my finishers. I took control of the board on game 2 and it was a close thing, but he managed to play 3 Archangel Avacyn  Flip to shift tempo back to him. Bygone Bishop really allowed me to stay in the match, thanks to all the clues they brought. Never drew any Archangel of Tithes, which would have been awesome here.

  • 2-0 against UB Zombies. He wanted to bring zombies in his yard and I wouldn't block his little 1/1 and 2/1. Exile effects also means no fuel for his Diregraf Colossus.

  • 2-0 against RB Madness aggro. Both games he basically had to discard stuff for no value. He did manage to get me to 5 second game, but I had a couple of blockers and Always Watching on line afterwards and he simply couldn't get through.

Immerwolf (in) Parallel Lives (out)

Blueleader96, 9 years ago

Feeling like I needed more creatures in the deck. Parallel Lives is good, but may come too late to help. The only reason I hadn't included Immerwolf before was that I was thinking that I want Huntmaster of the Fells  Flip transforming back sometimes for Tokens/life gain. Which is pretty silly since literally EVERY other creature benefits from Immerwolf.

FNM Results for 4/15/16

IzzetGod, 9 years ago

So during last night's FNM, I brought this deck and went 3-1 (also went 3-1 on Monday at another Standard tournament). Here are this week's FNM results:

===accordion ===panel:Round 1 vs. Control. Lost 0-2

My opponent was actually not to thrilled as I was his only loss during last week's FNM. This week ended up being the other way around.

Game 1 it was really close as I had a Dragonmaster Outcast that kept coming back because of Kolaghan's Command that it took him 3 removal spells to kill. However, he resolved a copy of Sorin, Grimm Nemesis and won through him. Game 2, I had to mulligan to 6 and honestly, my hand wasn't that great. He had Gideon, Ally of Zendikar aND Secure the Wastes and I couldn't deal with those Tokens.

===endpanel ===panel:Round 2 vs. Delirium. Won 2-0

I ended up playing against a noob. I was able to tell he was new to the game as he told me mid game (which I hadn't noticed until then) that when he took a mulligan, he exiled the first 7 cards instead of shuffling them together...I stomped him in the 2 games.

===endpanel ===panel:Round 3 vs. 4-Color Reanimator. Won 2-0

Game 1I watched him play a bunch of Wandering Fumarol and Thing in the Ice  Flip thinking he was playing Todd Andersons Control deck....until he discarded an Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger. I resolved a Chandra, Flamecaller and the clock was to fast for him after that. Game 2 he had quite the removal package. He also ended up playing Narset Transcendant & Nahiri, the Harbinger. I had To the Slaughter to deal with Thing in the Ice  Flip and Nahiri (I knew he would keep Narset over Nahiri). He has Narset at 9 and I looked at my hand of Mountain & Chandra, Flamecaller thinking "Once he Ultimates Narset, I lose to that Emblem." And after I passed the turn...he did the unthinkable. He used Narset's +1 instead of her -9! Because of that, I top decked Goblin Dark-Dwellers to flashback To the Slaughter to get rid of Narset and next turn Chandra and the Goblin took over.

===endpanel ===panel:Round 4 vs. Landfall. Won 2-0

During the first game, he drew absolutely no creatures. He had Exquisite Firecraft's in hand, but they don't kill Mindwrack Demon. Game 2 he had me on complete defence by having 2 Sylvan Advocate and Mina and Dennis, Wildborn. I took all the damage and than Chandra wiped the board clean and I got Goblin Dark-Dwellers, Sylvan Advocate and Hissing Quagmire on offense and won in 2 games.

===endpanel ===endaccordion

So overall, I still would say it was a pretty successful night! I tested Dragonmaster Outcast instead of the 3rd Chandra, Flamecaller and I only seen him once. I love the interaction with him and Kolaghan's Command so I may keep him in nex week. But I sill feel a 3Rd Chandra is needed. This deck has been absolutely phenomenal being 14-2-0 in the last week. And during the next weekend, I plan to bring this to the SCG State/Provincial Championship hoping to get the top prize and going to a future SCG Invitational! crosses fingers

3 Drops

Velin, 9 years ago

On realising this deck had no 3 drops, I'm testing 3 Tireless Trackers. Have also considered Origins Nissa, but Tireless Tracker seems to have more relevance early-mid game.

FNM RESULTS (04/15/16)

ComputerizedMTG, 9 years ago

Was unable to attend due to work. Real bummer that as soon as I have all the cards and the deck all sleeved and ready to go that I have to work the weekend. It's like the same will happen next week too, at least it will allow me to watch a couple of events and get a feelbfor the meta so I can make changes if need be.

3-2 At FNM

Linkdude74, 9 years ago

Went 3-2 as the current list at FNM. My sideboard was just made up of cards I had at the time. Round 1 - Loss to Jeskai Dragons. I was unable to draw planeswalkers or oath of nissa or any good control in both games of this first round. What really sucked was that we played one more after for fun, my deck worked perfectly and I destroyed him, only losing life to that dragon that deals 3 when you target a dragon. Round 2 - Win against G/W Humans Both games were pretty easy. I was able to board wipe him often with Chandra Descend, Planar outburts, declaration in stone, oath of chandra, etc. Had too many tokens for him to handle. Round 3 - Loss to U/R thing in the ice This was the most upsetting loss mostly because game one I was stuck on 4 land, no double white available, no oath of nissa out, all sorts of problems. Game two was much closer and even had fun memorable things like, cast chandra, + chandra, attack Chandra. Animated a land and plus Arlinn to take out a flipped thing in the ice. It was a much closer game. Round 4 - Win against mono white humans Was pretty similar to the second round, though game two he got a super aggressive start and completely destroyed me, taking it to game 3. Too many wrath for him to handle on game 3 and he was only playing off top decks so I got there. Round 5 - Win against Abzan tokens? I think that's what I would call it. It was Abzan colors, play not flip nissa, Westvale Abbey, Hanweir Militia Captain, and other token things. I took both games off of him, barely. Game one he managed to flip Westvale but I declaration in stone it and then hit him for 24 With gideon, my own militia captain, and a bunch of creatures while I had a Gideon emblem out.
