Sideboard

Just throwing together a Junk deck for my girlfriend to try. She likes creature based strategies, and I've been trying to find something competitive for her. Still tweaking the numbers, and the sideboard is only preliminary at this point. Input appreciated!

I threw Pack Rat in cuz I felt like the 2 drop slot was a little light. I can't afford Goyf, so Pack seemed like a decent alternative. I run Resto primarily because blinking a Siege Rhino is awesome. And its a solid beater in its own right. I'll definitely look at some Stirring Wildwood.

Wilt-Leaf Liege works so well with your deck. also Birds of Paradise is nice for early mana ramp and then pump with gavony.

I play a very similar deck, check it out! :)

I honestly haven't played the deck in paper yet. In online play testing its been okay, but not exactly fantastic. Right now I'd say Pack Rat and Anafenza, the Foremost would be the creatures I'd cut first. I'd like to get some Goyfs, just can't right now unfortunately.

im personally not a huge fan of goyf actually 2 creatures ive had luck with and doing amazingly well with are brimaz and vampire nighthawk

Eh, the thing is, Vamp and Brimaz are both 3 drops. So that would raise my curve. And with Bob, that could make a huge difference. So I'm a little hesitant to look at higher cmc creatures. I like my curve where it is, I'd ideally just like to swap in a different 2 drop. I might look at Brimaz instead of Anafenza though.

Scavenging Ooze is a whole lot better than pack rat here, and sometimes better than goyf because you can shrink him[goyf] with ooze. Wilt-Leaf Liege (or Siege Rhino) is awesome in this deck, and much better in the 4 drop slot than Restoration Angel now that Birthing Pod is banned. Personally, I would cut the Blade Splicers for Courser of Kruphix because you get more card advantage, if at the cost of some power.

I think your build would absolutely love Collected Company because hey it goes more creatures at instant speed. That's not something to scoff at and is definitly something she will enjoy having occur. I also agree Courser of Kruphix can be in here due to how abzan will go the long game route and want to grind out more life and value. I could see being used in here as well would be knight of reliquery since it acts as mana fix and deck thinning as well as just gets into a giant monster as you get lands in your yard

No Doran, the Siege Tower. 0/10

But on a more serious note. I would try to streamline the creature base more. I'm not the biggest fan of resto angel and pack rat in a modern junk build but that is personal preference I suppose. I would definitely use some Stirring Wildwood
