Hey everybody! This is my budget control build that I've been working on to test against. After some playing, I've found that I really enjoy it and may end up playing control for this next season of standard. Since I like to play creature based decks, I decided to make this deck more removal heavy with an adaptive sideboard.

REMOVAL PACKAGE:Twin Bolt is in for mono black, mono red, and green based strategies. Nothing is more satisfying than killing an Elvish Mystic and an Rattleclaw Mystic on turn 2.

Roast is an all-round solid piece of creature removal. It kills Siege Rhino. It kills Whisperwood Elemental. It kills Nyx-Fleece Ram!

Ultimate Price and Murderous Cut serve pretty much the same job of killing fat creatures, even though price only hits the monocolored ones. For all of those pesky multicolors, Reality Shift can get the job done in a pinch.

Foul-Tongue Invocation is nice when you have a dragon, as the life gain serves to deter aggro. Even when you don't have a dragon, it's still like a Devour Flesh except they don't get the life.

DRAWWWWWW!Of course, Dig Through Time serves as a sweet way to sift through the chaff of your deck. For an earlier version of this, Anticipate is an automatic four of.

As a surprising change, Weave Fate is taking the place of Jace's Ingenuity, as even though it's worse, I'm making this deck as rotation friendly as possibly (come September, it'll be worth it). A one of Dragonlord's Prerogative is pretty spicy too.

...counters?:The counter package is pretty simple for the mainboard. Three Silumgar's Scorn normally serves as a Counterspell as you almost always have a dragon in hand.

BOARD WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIPEEEEEEEEEE:It's AEtherspouts. That's it. It's an instant. Crux of Fate is not an instant.

SIDEBOARD PLAN:

Against Ojutai control, Negate comes in for Narset Transcendent, Disdainful Stroke comes in for Narset and Dragonlord Ojutai. Duress is used to weed out anything you don't want to be messing with. For a fun little twist, Self-Inflicted Wound will always kill a hexproof Ojutai. As for win-cons, Dragonlord Kolaghan immediately comes out for Pearl Lake Ancient.

Against tokens, Virulent Plague is sweet. All the time. Every time. 60% of the time, it kills all of the tokens every time.

This deck is designed to feast on slower midrange decks, so it should be good against most all of them.

Updates Add

I just won my last FNM with this deck! Twin Bolt, Foul-Tongue Invocation, and all of the gain life lands were real superpowers. Most games, I would get down to around 2 or 3 life after the mono red decks would have an explosive starts. The gain life lands stave off enough damage to survive the early onslaught, then the Foul-Tongue Invocations gain enough life to stabilize.
