Holy, thanks for the suggestions Forkbeard! Especially appreciate the suggestions of what to cut, which is always the hard part. All the cards you've suggested are really strong and make sense to add, it's just tough to say goodbye to cards.

My initial feeling is a concern over replacing so many creatures for non-creatures. Your suggestions would drop the deck down to 27 creatures and I have a(n unproven) sense that this deck might need to be creature-heavy, on the scale of 30+.

I'd be sad to lose Murasa Pyromancer - he's expensive to cast but so deadly. I don't have many expensive things in the deck, so can stand to keep one or two. I also think Chasm Guide might provide some handy Haste - when I can use Urza's Incubator, Mana Echoes and Cryptolith Rite to drop a lot of creatures quickly.

Hmmmm... I might need to Ponder this for a bit before pulling the trigger.

Xenograft would double your chances of finding that combo pairing for Turntimber Ranger.

Guys, this deck doesn't work. Your commander is White, so you can't have a five color commander deck. A mono-white commander means that the only mana costs on any card, in any way, can be white. The whole deck is illegal.

he is white but he has an ability that costs other colors so those are all part of his color identity.

"A card's colour identity is its colour plus the colour of any mana symbols in the card's rules text. A card's colour identity is established before the game begins, and cannot be changed by game effects"

note that color symbols in reminder text does not count.

Sorry RomulusStrange but joemick is right: "A card's color identity is any mana symbol appearing on that card." -Source

...which is why the legendary Tazri is so awesome for EDH :)

Good tip Emrakool! Xenograft would double up my chances of that combo, though apart from the combo I'm not sure if it would have much benefit (I've only got 2 non-Ally creatures left in the deck). I'm actually thinking about removing Conspiracy from the deck as it is. That little combo is neat but it's so dependent on those specific cards. Perhaps the overall ally synergy is the stronger gameplan.

I couldn't stop thinking about your Xenograft suggestion, Emrakool. I'm in for the full Turntimber Ranger combo! Tutor up Xenograft or Conspiracy, then fetch Turntimber with Tazri.

Looks like fun. Allies are one of my favorite tribes. I Would like to build this at some point +1.

Welp...I may end up stealing this if my group drops out of 60-card entirely. closest I've seen to what I currently run. creative, solid, and thematic. Cheers!

I find that Kindred Summons works really well with allies. Let's say you have 8 Allies out with one of them being Hagra Diabolist or with it being one of the creatures you hit, you will get 8 etb triggers, all dealing 16 damage. Kindred Summons has got to be by far the best card in my Allies deck because it either wins the game or gives insanely good value with even a couple Allies on board.

Panharmonicon may seem amazing here at first glance, but there are a lot of ETBs it doesn't mesh with: Seascape Aerialist, for instance. There are 6 ETB effect allies it has zero synergy with. That said, I may consider a Teleportation Circle or similar instead of it.. although, it certainly makes for more explosive turns if that's your goal. And even if there are 6 ETBs it doesn't mesh with, there are a few more it does combo nicely with, so.

Another thing I noticed: Realmwalker and Sea Gate Loremaster are included twice in the list. Also Beastcaller Savant, Black Market Connections, Harabaz Druid, Murasa Pyromancer, and Tuktuk Scrapper.

garrukhunter98 - Damn. Kindred Summons does sound pretty awesome. The steep mana curve and dependence on having an existing board state made me skip over it in the past but maybe I should try to find room for it after all. Making room is the tough part ;)

thefiresoflurve - Totally true that a number of the Ally ETB effects don't benefit from Panharmonicon but I think it's still worth it for the ones that do benefit from it. Especially the Allies that drain life, mill cards, kill creatures, kill artifacts or make my opponents discard - these are the ones I commonly tutor for with Tazri and they all benefit a lot from Panharmonicon. As for the duplicates, there's only one copy of each card in the deck. I've just listed them under multiple categories when they fill multiple roles (eg. it's an Ally, and I want to keep count of how many of those I have, but it's also part of my Ramp package). If you sort the deck by card type, you can see that there are no duplicates other than Basic lands.

Ah, I see. Thanks, I thought that looked weird.

Hi elliotmward97, Teferi's Protection is a fantastic protection spell for your board. If you have one available, I'm sure it would be great in an Allies deck!

Is there a formula for allies etb to be able to calculate propeller all the etb effects …

Total allies x allies etb ?

November 4, 2023 7:39 p.m.

Romer says... #18

elliotmward97 sometimes yes, though it depends on which ally you’re talking about because different allies have different effects.

For the more powerful allies, you’ve got it right. Something like Hagra Diabolist will deal damage = [number of allies entering the battlefield] x [total allies, including those entering the battlefield]. So if you had the Diabolist in play with one other ally and then 2 more allies ETB, you’d have target opponent lose 8 life (4 allies total x 2 ally ETB triggers).

This calculation also applies to allies like Halimar Excavator, Ondu Cleric and Murasa Pyromancer.

Some of the ally triggers are pretty simple though, so Umara Raptor just gets a +1/+1 counter for each ally ETB. If two allies ETB at once, then the raptor gets two +1/+1 counters - he doesn’t care about the number of allies you control.
