My friend is starting to play magic the gathering completely from scratch. Other than watching the tutorials available online and playing a mobile campaign game, he's completely new. We're looking to make him a deck that is ideally $80 or under, that has some flexible answers and a clear win condition, with cheap mana fixing.

Any and all suggestions wanted and appreciated! Not so sure about the direction of the deck so far, just trying to start off with compiling a decent toolbox.

The way I personally see budget vs funded, is that a funded deck will have good (often expensive) cards, and generally good synergy. I can't copy their synergy, but their good cards can be copied and stolen with Clever Impersonator and Acquire type cards, at a reduced cmc, and a reduced irl cash cost, so you can almost emulate a funded deck's collection, and create a not too shabby approximation of a good/funded deck this way.
