Famished Paladin

Creature — Vampire Knight

Famished Paladin doesn't untap during your untap step.

Whenever you gain life, untap Famished Paladin.

Famished Paladin + Sorcerer's Wand + Lifelink ability = infinite dmg infinite life gain that can be turned off when ever you want... a non game ending infinite combo.

Celestial Mantle, Beacon of Immortality. Any "ETB gain one life" card can go infinite if you want to include Presence of Gond and either Lurking Roper or Famished Paladin.

Hey, there! This looks really fun :)

As far as making things a little more competitive, one thing I can offer is: As someone who runs an Esper combo deck, one of the biggest things you can do for a combo deck is to make your combos synergize better with everything else in your deck, and not just each other.

Right now, I see Lurking Roper/Famished Paladin, Presence of Gond, and Healer of the Pride as an infinite combo where each piece is 1) hard to tutor, and 2) doesn't synergize with your overall gameplan of massive creatures dishing out damage.

An alternative infinite combo that synergizes better is Savage Ventmaw and Aggravated Assault, since both those cards do things with the rest of the deck without each other.

So, if I did the switch over to a more synergistic set of cards, I recommend replacing:

Ageless Entity -> Lathiel, the Bounteous Dawn

Colossal Dreadmaw -> Blossoming Bogbeast

Enduring Angel  Flip -> Archivist of Oghma - enduring angel looks dope, but your life total shouldn't hit zero.

Famished Paladin -> Faeburrow Elder

Healer of the Pride -> Serra Ascendant (just broken in EDH).

Verdant Sun's Avatar -> Old Gnawbone

Wall of Reverence -> Smothering Tithe

Presence of Gond -> Armadillo Cloak

Elemental Mastery -> Kenrith's Transformation

Alhammarret's Archive -> Aggravated Assault

The idea behind some of the picks is to get lifegain ability out a bit more consistently, and create fuel to power your giant creatures. I also don't know what your budget looks like, so full disclaimer there: some of the cards I recommended are expensive.

Happy building!

Presence of Gond combos with Famished Paladin or Lurking Roper as long as you have one of your 1 life creature etb guys out. Infinite life, elves and counters if your boss is also on board

There are a few more lands that give you life when they hit the board

Paradise Plume, Pristine Talisman

OK, as far as cards to cut : Shield Dancer, Longbow Archer, Gavony Trapper, Songstitcher and both the creatures that let your opponents draw cards.

sean360 zero context needed on sight upvote, love it love it LOVE IT.

Then I read your description and I love what you've got put together! I feel as though maybe Famished Paladin could be a good play on words for how Colin needs energy.

Love the concept!

Hey, impressive version on a budget, you've put a lot of thought into your deck.

An excellent compact infinite combo for life is Staff of Domination + Accomplished Alchemist by gaining five or more life on a turn. What makes this combo compact is it's two cards and Staff can draw which is helpful when you make infinite mana to draw your wincon in this case Aetherflux Reservoir. Staff can be a mana sink for any other infinite mana combos you play. Heronblade Elite is an overlooked mana dork who can get out of hand quick when playing counters as well as other Humans. With 5 or more power it also infinite combos with Staff of Domination.

To improve gameplay use cards that are part of combos, but are good without combos? Cards that do other things such as ramp or gain life and can be used in more than one combo. Try to limit the combos to two cards to make it easier to assemble.

Staff of Domination, Accomplished Alchemist, Ivy Lane Denizen, Spike Feeder, Cleric Class, Heronblade Elite, Scurry Oak are combo cards that are also good outside of combos. In contrast Sorcerer's Wand, Lurking Roper, Famished Paladin, Krosan Restorer, Presence of Gond are subpar cards that are only here because of combos or are only part of one combo. I'm not suggesting to cut all these cards, just to think about what other uses do they have here besides a combo and are they really needed because of that?

For example, Illusionist's Bracers is an expensive price card here that's only in one combo with one card, Krosan Restorer. Consider cutting Bracers and Restorer? Doing this change would also let you cut some of the lesser Bounce lands, Karoo and Jungle Basin because only playing them for Restorer combo. For a budget manabase Canopy Vista and Fortified Village could replace those lands. By adding Canopy Vista then you have a Selesnya dual land that Three Visits can get.

Many of the combos here require an equipment or an aura, Open the Armory can tutor for either one.

Some changes to consider:

Good luck with your deck.

Shattered Angel so you gain life off turn. Survival Cache, Paradise Plume

A fun combo I put in my life gain deck is Lurking Roper or Famished Paladin with Presence of Gond. All the ETB life gain cards make this infinite elves, infinite life

Combos: Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Walking Ballista Heliod, Sun-Crowned + Triskelion Resplendent Mentor + Famished Paladin

The first two are essentially just unlimited damage. You add lifelink with your commander for 2cmc and then you hit someone for 1 damage with either Walking Ballista 's 1 damage hit or the same thing with Triskelion . Once you hit with either of these abilities and they have lifelink, you instantly add a +1/+1 counter back on them with Heliod, Sun-Crowned ability and keep doing this until your opponents are dead.

The Combo with Famished Paladin has you use Resplendent Mentor ability to tap Famished Paladin for one life, then untap him and retap him with Resplendent Mentor ability again and again, giving unlimited +1/+1 counters to any creatures you have, and getting unlimited health.
