I'm sure every now and then everyone admires some of the art on these cards, but does anyone look out for one artist specifically?
Personally, I look for anything done by Nils Hamm. You can tell if he did almost instantly. I collect his cards. He's done cards like Baleful Strix , Grave Titan , Dungeon Geists and other sweet cards.
So tell me who your favorite artists are or what card arts you love :)

John Avon is my favorite, hands down. It's not even just for the Unhinged basics (though it's largely for that!). Everything he touches is just really good. The charms he did were all excellent, for instance.

Steve Argyle is up there too, though I suspect some people don't like his style after Liliana of the Veil . Either way, Deathrite Shaman and his Bloodbraid Elf are fantastic.

I love a couple different artists, but Make a Wish gets no love for it's dope art.

That little gem could be a pretty dope foil. Wonder if they did it right.

Oh so many of the Magic artists are amazing, but I really love Wayne Reynolds' art, with Ink-Eyes, Servant of Oni and Ib Halfheart, Goblin Tactician .
But I must say that Swanland's art is bloody amazing.

My personal favorite is Chris Rahm. Amazing artwork with a lot of little detail you may not notice at first, like the bite wound on huntmaster of the fells's hand

Zoltan Boros is beast. Not always because of his art, but because of his name. Zoltan is a pretty cool first name, and when your last name is that of a guild, well, you can't really get more into magic.

As far as art goes, Howard Lyon has some pretty nice ones. One of my favorites is Angel of Flight Alabaster .

Also, I thought Make a Wish was revered only for its art... its not that good as a card, but I see its art used quite a bit (DotP uses it for an achievement for example). Also another Howard Lyon art

I enjoy almost all of the artwork on Magic cards, but I must second the Johannes Voss, vote, as I think Blood Artist is brilliant. Also Gift of Orzhova was my background for a while.

My favorite artist has been, and always will be Raymond Swanland.

Me and my friends had a challenge amongst ourselves that we had to make a deck using only one artist (outside of lands), and this is my Raymond deck: Raymond Swanland cards OP

Being an artist myself, I'm always so inspired by his pieces, and I love the work he does going into so much detail. If you notice, all of his shadows are black and then fade out. It creates a really nice effect; not to mention all of his cards have a use and/or are ridiculously good.

In my opinion, Banefire is one of the best burn spells ever printed. Vengevine is widely known as a ludicrously overpowered card, and Thraximundar is one of the very competitive EDH generals for overall easiest way to incur general damage.

One of my favourite cards by him though, has to be Dragonmaster Outcast . I love that card so much and it's such a fun way to win a game. Wolfir Silverheart has beautiful art and has won me more games than I can count in my Gotta Catch 'em All! (UPDATE) deck.

And finally, everyone loves Wurmcoil Engine . In fact, everyone loves it so much, they'll throw it in their deck as a one-of just because why not?

Terese Nielsen and Rebecca Guay are amazing artists. Dismember , Angel of Jubilation , Basandra, Battle Seraph and the Guru lands are just a few of my favorites by Nielsen, and Kaysa , Auramancer , Bitterblossom , Channel and Drowner of Secrets are my favorites by Guay.

Nielsen even made new art for Hanna, Ship's Navigator !

John Avon all the way.

I'd like Rebecca Guay more if she made more than one piece of art. Man, that willowly woman with long almost always blond hair really gets around.

Rebecca Guay has such a nice art style, I wish they commissioned her to do more card art.

I also like Wayne Reynolds and Raymond Swanland. Gotta love all those sharp edges in their art.

Overall, it looks like wizards is moving more towards digital art, which makes me a little sad. Traditional medium art just looks so nice, like cards from older sets.

I hate picking favorites but currently it's Johannes Voss. The feel, and not to mention just the angles that they're done are just so awesome. From the stain-glass wings on Gift of Orzhova that add so much eye drawing color on a black and white card. I suggest checking out some of his other work as well.
