Standard Tribal Elemental deck inspired by the timmy/johnny favorite, Omnath, Locus of Rage
The Build
Mainboard
- Embodiment of Spring - early defense that helps me ramp up to late game threats
- Rattleclaw Mystic - ramp/mana fixing and fodder for Evolutionary Leap
- Shaman of Forgotten Ways- ramp/mana fixing/4th color for Woodland Wanderer and alternate win con
- Greenwarden of Murasa- gives me access to cards in my graveyard especially since I have Kiora, Master of the Depths
- Sylvan Advocate- good early body with vigilance that maintains its threat into the late game
- Undergrowth Champion- can be both a good threat and blocker and is less prone to burn removal
- Woodland Wanderer - great body with both vigilance and trample to provide a balance of aggressiveness and defense
- Surrak Dragonclaw- a little help against control but mainly for the trample ability
- Omnath, Locus of Rage- the boss. landfall triggers quite often and makes removing this deck's creatures a pain. I can sac my own creatures to trigger his Lightning Bolt as well
- Nissa, Sage Animist - (flip side is pretty self explanatory) +1 for card advantage without having to draw lands, -2 for the elemental and Temur Ascendancy trigger, -7 for shenanigans
- Kiora, Master of the Depths- primarily helps with ramp and digs for more creatures/lands while ult is an added benefit
- Atarka's Command- I mean, what's not to like? (Custard? gooood. Jam? gooood. Meat? goooooood!)
- Evolutionary Leap- useful for sac'ing creatures of little value such as Embodiment of Spring or Rattleclaw Mystic later on in the game
- Temur Ascendancy- 8-12 ( Zendikar Incarnate usually has power 4 or greater) creatures and tokens from Nissa, Sage Animist /Omnath, Locus of Rage trigger it
- Retreat to Kazandu - helps me stabilize after the early onslaught and can make my creatures bigger as an alternate option
- Roast- helps against the problematic Siege Rhino, Tasigur, the Golden Fang, and most other creatures they are likely to run
- Tears of Valakut - answers most flyers
- Bonds of Mortality - counters Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger
- Scatter to the Winds - counterspell if needed + awaken
- Roast- helps against the problematic Siege Rhino, Tasigur, the Golden Fang, and most other creatures they are likely to run
- Tears of Valakut - answers most flyers and combos well with Bonds of Mortality to kill Dragonlord Ojutai
- Bonds of Mortality - counters Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger and Dragonlord Ojutai
- Zendikar's Roil- against the control match up to consistently put out creatures esp. since control decks tend to have a harder time removing enchantments
- Gaea's Revenge- competes with Omnath, Locus of Rage, but is harder to remove. good against control decks that don't run Abzan Charm
- Scatter to the Winds - counterspell if needed + awaken
Noteworthy
- Dragonmaster Outcast- not elements and doesn't have enough ramp support to maximize on the ability
- Crater Elemental - no synergy with Temur Ascendancy and is a defensive card until i already have offensive cards on the field
- Zendikar Incarnate - beat out by Woodland Wanderer
- Sword of the Animist/Animist's Awakening/Explosive Vegetation/ Nissa's Renewal /Nissa's Pilgrimage/ Natural Connection - great ramp but honestly, unnecessary. the omnath appeal doesn't warrant taking out other threats or utility cards
- Jaddi Offshoot - beat out by Retreat to Kazandu
- Sarkhan Unbroken- doesn't fit the theme but thats just me. if I had to, I'd probably drop an Atarka's Command or Stubborn Denial
- Lumbering Falls + Sylvan Advocate - land creatures ftw
- Omnath, Locus of Rage + Temur Ascendancy - lands refill my hand. Also makes Blighted Woodland/Wooded Foothills/Windswept Heath much better
- Evolutionary Leap + Omnath, Locus of Rage - green Lightning Bolts and the next creature in my deck
- land, Embodiment of Spring
- forest, Rattleclaw Mystic / Atarka's Command for a land / sac embodiment
- mountain, 2 rattleclaw or command / Kiora, Master of the Depths and 1 rattleclaw or command / facedown Rattleclaw Mystic / Shaman of Forgotten Ways
