Thanks for 100 upvotes, everyone! There are a few cards I'm eyeing for once SOI is released, which are as follows:
- The Gitrog Monster seems reasonable, but I think it would likely be better at the helm of a deck built around it
- Ever After is likely going in, probably over Whisperwood Elemental
- Traverse the Ulvenwald looks super promising
- Relentless Dead looks cool, but I'm not sure if I have enough zombies to support it

Looks pretty strong, +1.
Pelakka Wurm and Thragtusk have nice triggers for abusing. Creakwood Liege good for making tokens to sac and powering them up to. Reaper of the Wilds is resilient and can help filter draws. Parallel Lives and Doubling Season can increase your tokens if going that route.

I have tried both combo's and you say this one is less reliable i would argue against this. It is a lot more reliable, but i would also say that depends on your playgroup. plus yours is a lot easier disrupted against spot removal. Mine might take a piece extra but is more reliable and a lot easier to combo with against everybody. Like i said i have probably played this deck more but we are each entitled to our own opinion

How do you like Craterhoof Behemoth in this deck? Does it finish a lot for you? I get some success out of it in mine but usually as a secondary or third finisher was thinking about replacing it for some more fodder like Bitterblossom.
Also if you do keep playing it what would you think of a card like Life//Death over animate dead? The draw back is you take life to animate but you also have life for when you can birthing pod out craterhoof or something and make it a for sure game ender.

@Bganoko Craterhoof Behemoth is great here. It's useful for turning a board state full of weenies into a kill condition. I wouldn't recommend removing it.
I used to play Life/Death but Life is just way too risky, and Death is just a worse Reanimate. I think the whole Craterhoof/Life interaction is just way too fringe to be relevant.

Have you considered Blade of Selves? You seem to have a number of creatures with ETB effects that can be abused with myriad. The tokens can also be fodder for sacrificing prior to the end of combat, if you wish.

Liliana of the Veil or Liliana, Heretical Healer Flip seem like they would fit well in this deck, especially the latter. +1 from me!

I'm not totally sure what you could take out for it, but It That Betrays seems like a killer card for Meren decks. Always gonna +1 a fellow Meren deck! Check out mine Meren, The Caller of Scions for what, so far, seems like a unique idea for her

+1 for Meren and being a well constructed deck. You have some of the cards I am still saving up for in mine. Feel free to check out my Meren build here.

So how do you usually win with Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest? It seems like he is missing consistent fodder. It might be my meta because the board gets wiped more often but as is I see him as a second mikaeus for woodfall in this deck? Which doesn't seem to bad, but you have him as a finisher where mikaeus wasn't. I just feel its rather optimistic to have him out and a grave pact and things to sac to an outlet. Anyway just wondering if i missed something.

Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest goes infinite with a sac outlet and a persist creature like Puppeteer Clique or Woodfall Primus.

I would suggest Nim Deathmantle for the infinite combos it powers when mixed with Ashnod's Altar+ Avenger of Zendikar as well as being a great way to abuse etb triggers and protect important creatures. Overall I love your deck and would appreciate if you checked mine out... Meren goddess of death and rebirth

@Bganoko As Squirrel_of_War said, Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest goes infinite with a persister and a free sacrifice outlet. I've moved Mikaeus, the Unhallowed to the "Finishers" category to be more consistent.
@trobaldo I'm actually trying to keep a small number of infinite combos in here, as they're not very fun but they're great for ending extremely drawn-out games. I appreciate the suggestion, though.

May I suggest adding in Homeward Path for those pesky Marchesa, the Black Rose decks.
March 1, 2016 9:14 p.m.
Kalitas, Traitor of Ghet Good control and token generation at 4 mana.
March 5, 2016 12:53 a.m.
with so many creatures, have you considered See the Unwritten?

Are there any infinite combos in here? If you were going to include some/more, what would you play? I've been wanting to build Meren, but haven't really taken the time to research the commander.

@vault Right now, the combos in this deck are Mikaeus, the Unhallowed/Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest + Puppeteer Clique/Woodfall Primus along with a sac outlet for infinite death/ETB triggers. I'm not a big proponent of combos in casual EDH, so I usually just have one or 2 in my lists. If I were to add more, I'd likely go with the Mike+Trike combo along with Tooth and Nail for easy wins.
March 16, 2016 9:45 a.m.
I wanted to build it casual too. That's why your list caught my eye, no combos that I could see. So how do you win? Do you have a finite combo, or just turn sideways?

@vault Often this deck is capable of completely taking control of the game, and it's great at going long, so beating down with cards like Avenger of Zendikar and Craterhoof Behemoth is definitely a real strategy. Mazirek, Kraul Death Priest and Kokusho, the Evening Star also provide win conditions. The combo comes out in desperate situations or when games go ridiculously long and I want to end them.

Nice deck TheFanatic, + 1 from me.
You should check out my Green Black Glissa, the Traitor edh deck. It has a list of a bunch of cool control cards and a primer on stax and you may find some cool cards to try out.

I like this deck. I've got quite the soft spot for reanimator decks, I have a Grixis one myself!+1 from me. Looks like a solid list.
Are you trying to keep it budget friendly?

@TheBoraxKid Thanks! I'm not actively trying to keep this deck budget, but I'm also not going out of my way to acquire expensive cards like Damnation. This deck is a long-term project for me, so it will likely get more expensive as time goes on.

I really like your build. I especially like your custom categories. I copied them for my deck. Since this deck has such a high rating and mine does not, would you mind checking my version out and leaving some feedback? I'm sure you have some good suggestions to help balance mine out. I would really appreciate it.

@FloPStaR I find that Smokestack is a generally unfun card, and by the time I can feed it it is often too late in the game to matter anyway.
@Bganoko I did consider Dryad Arbor for this deck, but I've never really been happy with the card when I've played it in other decks due to the fact that it's a land that dies to sweepers and can't immediately tap for mana. Also, I like Greenwarden of Murasa because it provides redundancy -- having only one Eternal Witness effect really isn't enough in a deck like this. It's also got a reasonably sized body for Greater Good.
@lastturn Phyrexian Tower and Survival of the Fittest are on my to-get list, but right now they're too expensive to warrant be buying them and nobody has Pucatraded them to me. Also, you are suggesting that I take out a bunch of combo pieces in favor of more combo pieces that are less consistent. Thank you for your suggestions, but I think I will pass.
@CkajLanoa That's a really cool idea that I hadn't thought of. I'll add it to the maybe board.
@Casey4321 No. Living Death is also a sweeper, as is Pernicious Deed. Grave Pact and Dictate of Erebos are also sweepers in the right circumstances.
