Another iteration of RW Heroic, this time with more Heroic creatures!

One of my favorite old standard decks was UW heroic and I initially looked into building an updated version of that deck for the Pioneer format, but it seems that RW heroic is the place to be thanks to recent printings of certain cards, namely Ancestral Anger, Tenth District Legionnaire, and Reckless Rage. Defiant Strike was always one of the best cards to draw in the old UW heroic decks since it replaced itself, but Ancestral Anger is practically a strict upgrade, with the only downside being that it is sorcery speed. Blue cards commonly used in UW Heroic decks provide more reliable card advantage, but generally cost 2cmc (Ordeal of Thassa and Staggering Insight) in addition to the very nice card Curious Obsession. However the Red version keeps up card advantage with Ancestral Anger, replaying cards from the GY with Dreadhorde Arcanist, and using the additional scrying from Titan's Strength to smooth our draw step. The red version is more explosive due to the hasty creatures (compare Tenth District Legionnaire to Battlewise Hoplite), and in a way synergizes better with a combination of heroic and prowess creatures than if every creature in the deck had heroic. For example, targeting a heroic creature with a Defiant Strike gives the permanent +1/+1 counter in addition to the temporary +1/+0, but with a prowess creature alongside the heroic creature the prowess creature also gains a temporary +1/+1, whereas in the UW version you don't really want to draw too many creatures since there often aren't as many buffs to go around in a creature-heavy draw.

Homestead Courage will replace Titan's Strength since it triggers prowess multiple times in a turn and provides a lasting effect, although it costs 2 mana to give the same buff thereby making it a less explosive option, but one that might be more appropriate in removal-heavy metas. Portable hole might be a good SB card instead of some of the other red removal depending on your meta. Mine looks to be filled with UR Phoenix and Jund food/cat oven decks, so I'll try to find a SB plan against those first and foremost.

Updates Add

I've loved Heroic for a long time, and it made it to the finals of the recent Pro Tour! Monstrous Rage is an excellent addition to the deck since it previously struggled against token strategies or the cat/oven combo chump blocks. Now with more sources of trample in the deck, the protection of Gods Willing isn't as necessary to push through damage, and can be replaced with the better defensive card in Loran's Escape.

Even though Heroic lost in the PT finals, it still has the staying power to compete in the format!
