Love Valduk! He was one of the first commanders I built and I love that he can easily be built on a very low budget.

Cards I highly recommend from my (admittedly fairly short experience):

Some other ones that seem like they'd have potential:

SufferFromEDHD on MurderKobold

Idol of Oblivion on theme card draw

Impact Tremors speed up the clock

Mark of Fury/Escape Velocity consistent Heroic triggers

Seething Anger much more useful than Antagonize

mrsaggy: the non-bad Auras are for opposing creatures too; if they're goaded they're not attacking me after all

Escape Velocity & Mark of Fury are there because they're repeatable (the Mark also gives some recurring draw with Enchantress' cards), while Rune of Speed is just there because it's a cheap cantrip

I'm overall feeling pretty Timmy about this deck; if I finish it it's not going to be overly concerned with winning and more about creating funny situations

Hey, nice changes. Boros Signet is an upgrade for Solemn Simulacrum which at 4 CMC is too high for a ramp source. You can abuse Sunforger with Mistveil Plains which is an upgrade for Temple of Triumph .

Some haste enablers to try out:

  • Escape Velocity : Wyleth also works with auras and while they're not as reliable as equips there's some exceptions such as auras that can return themselves from your graveyard with escape.
  • Lightning Greaves : is worth playing because of it's 0 equip cost. Just equip another creature before you want to add more equips to Wyleth and then when done equip Wyleth with Greaves.
  • Ring of Valkas : after giving haste can grow Wyleth on your turn each turn.

The interaction of Puresteel Paladin + Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith is very good with Wyleth. Toggo creates equipment (Rocks) for free with landfall. Each time a Rock is created it triggers Puresteel to draw. Rocks help or three of them can activate metalcraft and can then 0 equip all Rocks to Wyleth.

Some other cards that could be cut for better options:

lagotripha on Elemental Storm Pezzent! (10/12 Euro/$)

If you are playing a budget storm list, Lava Dart & Conflagrate will add reach and multiple spell casts. Escape Velocity or Underworld Rage-Hound type escape cards makes fossil find a lot better. Just jamming stuff that reads 'when spell' and 'draw a card' will work ok - though meta consideration, luminmancer is making people pack removal for that plan.

If you can find space in the budget by using the cheapest cards like Crash Through , Young Pyromancer is probably the best way to push this list to competitive.

Force of Rage is fairly cheap and a pair of ambush vipers can be useful.

There are some cool sideboard options - Tunnel Ignus , Sulfur Elemental , Ingot Chewer and so forth, but they have mostly been balanced around Flamekin Harbinger which is out of budget, so slots will dissapear quick - I'd look at hiding some mainboard.

Cheers man; definitely looked at delve and escape cards, but there weren’t any big standouts besides Logic Knot and Escape Velocity, neither of which quite made the mainboard cut. If something occurs to you though, I’d love to hear it

zAzen7977 on LILIANA’S EMBRACE - Self-Mill Reanimator [Ret.]

Hey channelfireball12345, thank you for your comments! Nullpriest of Oblivion is definitely an option for this build. It’s a good reanimation target for Inscription of Ruin and Lurrus of the Dream-Den. I’ve considered cutting Mire Tritons for the Nullpriests, but the Tritons provide deathtouch, immediate lifegain, and self-mill, and the self-mill is critical for this deck to function. I could also make room for the Nullpriests by swapping out some utility cards for it like Escape Velocity or Thrill of Possibility.

Another issue is that I’ve optimized the list for maximizing Call of the Death-Dweller, so I have chosen not to mainboard any creatures over 3 CMC. My only big creatures are Massacre Wurms on the sideboard, but that may change as I do more testing. The Nullpriest costs 6 mana when fully kicked, and I think this is prohibitively expensive in this build. From my experience, reaching 6 mana can be difficult unless the game goes long (my previous build didn’t run anything beyond 5 CMC), and I would rather run the Wurms or more Inscription of Ruin because of its versatility (being able to discard 2 is very useful to make Nighthawk Scavengers grow). Plus Liliana, Waker of the Dead’s ultimate is achievable and helps bring back creatures during the late game.

To make the Nullpriest more worthwhile from a cost/benefit analysis perspective, I would include it in a control deck running more expensive creatures, more lands, and more disruption so I could take advantage of its full potential. However, I am not dismissing the Nullpriest in this build quite yet. Lots of testing needs to be done.

And I agree about Gruesome Menagerie, that card was really interesting, but the Standard card pool made it difficult to utilize it effectively. When I had 5 mana available, I always wanted to play Doom Whisperer instead. Maybe it can find a place in Pioneer in a golgari build with lots of self mill and ramping, or something similar.
