Sanctum Gargoyle Discussion

Thanks for posting Spisepinden. I’m grateful for the suggestions as well; I’m always interested in seeing potential ideas I may have overlooked. I think Evolution Charm is a good backup plan—it was actually part of the deck during design stages, but I cut it for some reason (I can’t recall why). I’ll Maybeboard it for a possible future update. Same with Nullmage Advocate.
I had considered some of the other suggestions like Mwonvuli Acid-Moss, but I think at this point if I wished to include them I’d have to do a major overhaul on the deck and lose a lot of its current form and focus. They’re perfectly viable ideas but I’d rather build a new deck with those as foundation stones than completely retool this one. I suppose I could un-budgetize this by swapping Wild Growth for Utopia Sprawl, making Sanctum Gargoyle doable, but...my inner Scrooge McDuck would rather hoard the gold coins.

It's a damn shame this deck can't run Liquimetal Coating :P I love the theme!
As others have stated, the plan hinges on a fragile creature. Having Vines of Vastwood or Apostle's Blessing can be helpful, but if your Myr gets killed, it might be useful to have something like Evolution Charm to bring it back from the graveyard. You're probably not going to use the flying mode often, but being able to search for a land in a pinch is a great secondary option to keep it from being a completely dead card. The instant speed is nice as well.
Beyond that, a card like Nullmage Advocate might be a useful way to keep the land destruction going without relying on draws all the time. The cards you return to your opponent's hand won't matter since they have no mana to cast them, meaning they'll likely end back in the graveyard at your opponent's end step. And even if you're returning lands, the Advocate will happily flatten them over and over again, at no card disadvantage to you.
Other sources of destruction could come in the shape of Mwonvuli Acid-Moss and Conclave Naturalists, though the former might be a bit too slow while I could see the latter competing a bit with the Siege Wurm and Tangle Golem. There's something to be said about card destruction on legs, though.
On a final, sort of side-tangent note, even though I know the deck is mono green and almost certainly benefits from being able to ramp with a single color, I still feel that it would be a shame to not at least mention a card like Sanctum Gargoyle.
Happy deck brewing!

Colossus of Akros . Glassdust Hulk . Get Mirage Mirror and Master Transmuter into your main board. Sanctum Gargoyle . Wurmcoil Engine is a bit spendy but definitely deserves a slot. Saheeli's Artistry .

Heya Fans, and welcome back to our show. After some practice with our potential new hires we come to our first look at what fresh acts we can bring to the audiences.
After much hiring and firing, then rehiring again, and many hours of choreography, I am happy to report we have had decent results. And that I'm convinced there could be physical changes made. If you disagree or think of something better, please share your thoughts in the comments.
These changes aren't so deck altering as some of the others I am still considering, but I'm still not 100% on them. Need some outside input.
Hanna, Ship's Navigator - ???: Closest things I could find that flies is Razor Hippogriff , Sanctum Gargoyle , and Griffin Dreamfinder but that only covers half. Or is this ability really necessary, can we work around our toys being removed and use this spot to fit something new?.
Azorius Keyrune & Ojutai Monument : for lack of a better word they seem 'cute' now. They seemed useful at first because they turned into flying creatures that shared the benefit other flyers do. Better rocks? Keep? Replacements could include Fellwar Stone , Basalt Monolith could be blinked with Brago... unsure what else is good and not overly expensive.
Favorable Winds : Is it really necessary, amid the other +'s it seems the least shiny, even though it's foiled.
Stay tuned for more to come! We're always trying to keep fresh acts, and as accidents happen replacement performers will hopefully be swift coming. Don't forget the suggestion and vote box on your way out. See you next time at The Circus!

Hey, Raff as a commander basicly gives you a Vedalken Orrery for most of your deck if done right. I enjoy building budget EDH decks for myself and my friends so I will gladly give advice.
To start with, it seems that you have listed Padeem, Consul of Innovation into your deck twice. Into that matter, playing that card means you are going into artifacts so i would recommend more of them. Metalwork Colossus is both a budget creature and a little bomb at flash speed. Being able to cast it easily as a 3-5 mana creature at the eot of your opponent basicly giving haste to a 10/10 which includes self recursion. Into that plan Chief Engineer, Filigree Angel, Foundry Inspector, Myr Retriever, Sanctum Gargoyle, Scrap Trawler, Soul of New Phyrexia and Sharding Sphinx would bring a lot of gimmics into the game and Treasure Mage as a handy tutor. This cards ain't too expensive too so they miught come in your budget.
Regarding your mana base, I can't help but wonder why haven't you included Sol Ring. Sure it is around 3,5$ but it is such a good card at any stage of the game I just can't think of a commander which wouldnt want it. I discourage the use of Gold Myr and Silver Myr thou their vulnerability towards removal and instead I would propose the addition of Sky Diamond and either Commander's Sphere or Darksteel Ingot. If it is in your budget, Burnished Hart and Thaumatic Compass Flip could help a great deal, as well as Esper Panorama or Bant Panorama.
GL and wish you good luck
