In bracket 2, there are no intentional (game-winning) two-card combos. So nothing obviously like Exquisite Blood + Sanguine Bond or Earthcraft + Squirrel Nest , but something like Cathars' Crusade and Doubling Season is just fine.

In bracket 3, it's no game-winning two-card combos before turn 8 which is less a deck construction rule and more a gameplay rule.

In bracket 4, there are no rules regarding combos.

I think you can ramp with creatures like "Wood Elves" or "Summon: Fenrir" rather than with sorceries like "cultivate" or "explosive vegetation" for example. It's more mana expensive but you'll have better synergy with your commander. ;)

SaberTech on Should I Keep Basalt Monolith …

Basalt Monolith does help you ramp into your more expensive creatures but the only card in the deck that makes optimal use of infinite colourless mana is Emiel the Blessed. Since I haven't played with the deck I can't really weigh how much it helps you get ahead on average or how often you find it inconvenient to spend the mana to untap it.

Maybe Kiora's Follower is a card worth considering for the deck? You have a handful of creatures with tap abilities like Bloom Tender and Loran of the Third Path that it can help get another use out of, and at worst it helps you to ramp by untapping a land.

Mainboard Naturalize is kind of a hedge vs stuff like Cursed Scroll which makes life really difficult and ray can't clear it. Could ofc run Disenchant or Seal of Cleansing, I picked naturalize though because white is my main color, so if they give something pro-green in rsp I'll at least be able to still block it.

capwner on 5c Twisted Tribe (Premodern)

Thanks for the interest and suggestions artcwolf22! You could certainly consider cutting green, my pauper build of Tribe is Azorius w/ red splash however pauper allows access to Dizzy Spell for tutoring and premodern does not. The big reason green is here is for Eladamri's Call, this finds both halves of the combo plus the other stuff in our toolbox. I think cutting this and playing a jeskai build may improve mana but will hurt the reliability of finding the combo/keepable 7 which is a big deal for this deck. That's the main reason I just said screw it and went for 5c...if you know anything good to replace Eladamri's while staying in Jeskai I'd love to hear about it! The other green stuff like roar of the wurm has been a little lukewarm yeah, but still it's enough to ein sometimes and because of Quiet Speculation I think I need to keep them for the backup beatdown.

I really like this deck. I underestimated how strong tireless tribe could be with About Face and the dwarf until I goldfished a few t3 wins.

Would you think a deck could removing green for better consistency? Wild mongrel and roar of the worm seems like a different deck. However, naturalize is great in the format, although I wouldn't mainboard it (your ray of revelation does its job).

If a similar deck removed green, blue you have access to waterfront bouncer and a 3/1 blue thing.

My modern / EDH brain just always defaults to better color consistency.

DemonDragonJ on Should I Keep Basalt Monolith …

I have a copy of Basalt Monolith in my Chulane, Teller of Tales EDH deck, specifically to combo with Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy, but it is unlikely that I shall draw both cards in the same game, so I am wondering if I should keep that card in that deck, or perhaps replace it with either another mana rock or a mana dork, instead, as that deck focuses strongly on creatures.

What does everyone else say, about this subject? Should I keep Basalt Monolith in my Chulane, Teller of Tales EDH deck, or replace it with another card? I certainly am interested to hear your thoughts, on this matter.

Good suggestions all. The only issue is that I do not have 4 Patrician Geist. As to the rest, while I am not a fan of Counterspells (personal opinion/play-style) I could absolutely make it less creature heavy by replacing a few with more Removal and Prison features.

Wow! And I thought Assemble the Legacy was dumb. This blows my Sram's Excaliburs out of the water. You've actually outdone yourself. I second kamarupas advice. I’d like to add it’s possible to double up and have both a body and utility. Something like Malevolent Hermit comes to mind. You’ve got a decent counterspell in waiting that can later be Disturbed for another spirit to take advantage of your +1/+1 anthem effects, all in a single card.

kamarupa on Disturbing Night

If you want it to be more competitive/less casual, you can improve consistency by limiting the decklist to fewer creatures and more copies of key creatures. It seems to me the core theme of the deck is the Disturb mechanic, so I think your most important creature is Patrician Geist and you have run 4x copies of that. Really, you should try to include 4x copies of the best creatures, and cut some of the lesser creatures.

I can appreciate the desire to be creature heavy, but I'd like to encourage you to cut back from 32 to 26. 26 creatures would still be a very creature heavy deck, but would have room for a few more utility spells, namely a minimum of 4x removal spells and maybe a couple of copies of Pull from Eternity, so even if a creature that you've cast for it's Disturb cost is removed, you can still bring it back. That can really mess with opponent's heads and make them feel like they can't stop you no matter what you do.

And of course, so more dual lands is always good. You don't have many 1 drop spells, so maybe Temple of Enlightenment could be useful. I usually like to include a utility land or two, as well, like Scavenger Grounds or Field of Ruin.

I hope maybe something I've suggested is useful. Have fun!
