Natural Affinity

Instant

Until end of turn, all lands become 2/2 creatures that are still lands.

Probably more bounce lands. Arid Archway Coral Atoll Guildless Commons Jungle Basin are the ones you could run.

Also, Avenger of Zendikar, Druid Class, Khalni Heart Expedition, and maybe Zendikar Resurgent. Engulf the Shore for a boardwipe. Fecund Greenshell is a good buff card in a Landfall deck. Life and Limb Natural Affinity and Rude Awakening can be close a game.

Thanks for checking out my decks as of recent, Profet93 I appreciate it. This is my second go at trying out a Lands strategy. Zimone and Dina were pretty interesting, but they felt like they were being pulled in a couple of different directions.

Since this deck is fairly new, I haven't had a chance to try it here yet. I used to run Insidious Dreams in my old Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck. I liked it the times I played it there, but felt it was kinda clunky at 4 cmc, especially for a Mardu deck. I figured the mana cost wouldn't be as big of a deal in a deck with Green in it lol. I'm also playing it here because my one copy of Demonic Tutor is currently in my Burakos deck. I also figured I'd (ideally) be pitching Lands to the Discard requirement. If it under performs, It'll be one of my first swaps out.

  1. Petrified Field seems interesting. I agree that I'd want to limit the number of colorless mana producing lands I run, but could swap it for one of the others already in the deck.

  2. Lol I picked up a copy of Natural Affinity during one of my ordering batches. I'm sure that I'll give it a shot at some point.

  3. As for the Shamanic Revelation, I currently have about 6 creature token production effects in the 99. Still getting a feel for how consistently I can draw into at least one. In terms of a similarly costed draw effect, I was considering Stinging Study. 5 for always 5 seems decent.

I'm a bit fan of land decks since I run azusa. Lord Wingrace was always an interesting one. How has Insidious Dreams been working for you? I understand it's potential upside as you can set up a combo at instant speed at opponents EOT. How have the downsides been for you, namely... 1) Discard is additional cost to cast, 2) You need to draw into them. The first issue is mitigated by price of glory, the second by a draw source. So perhaps it works for you. Still curious.

Two unserious suggestions....

  1. Petrified Field - Works well with realms uncharted. Your commander's effect and 3 color requirement makes this not ideal but worth mentiong.
  2. For the ultimate laugh, Natural Affinity - Nice board wipe you got there, would be a shame if you lost your lands...I only mention it because you run strip mine, a crucible effect and multiple land drops per turn

Would a Shamanic Revelation be worth considering given all of your token production or is to too dependent upon your boardstate?

Your “combo” doesn’t work. Willbreaker requires a creature is targeted by a spell or ability. Even if the opponents lands are creatures with Natural Affinity, Dampening Pulse doesn’t explicitly target anything, so you don’t gain control of anything.

At the moment your deck has zero ways to make use of Willbreaker, as the only cards you have that targets creatures are Passwall Adept and Simic Manipulator - and the manipulator is stealing the creature anyway.

CamraMaan on Yedora, Grave Gardener infinite combos …

In particular, I'm hoping Natural Affinity and Jolrael, Empress of Beasts affect new lands in play, only because of their ability to also screw over opponents in the case of a board/creature wipe. But my assumption is that I'll be outta luck on this one.

Thelonite Druid is clear in its rulings that it only affects lands on the BF as it resolves. Is this the same for Natural Affinity? Like, if I a sac a Forest creature, will Yedora, Grave Gardener make it come back as another Forest creature, or just as a Forest? What about Jolrael, Empress of Beasts? My assumption is that they all will only affect the lands in play when the effect/spell resolves, but I want to be sure I'm not missing something that makes one different from another. Thanks in advance! :)

There are a lot of cards I ordered on TCGplayer a month or more ago that haven’t arrived yet. Scryb Ranger is one of them. And I have a Nantuko Vigilante lost in the mail somewhere to synergize with Yedora and those rangers. I also have a Japanese Timber Protector that I want to run because with the second iteration of this deck, I plan to have a few cards to turn all my forests into creatures, like Life and Limb, Living Lands, and Thelonite Druid. And yes, if someone exiles all my creatures, there goes my board state, but that’s why I bought a Natural Affinity. It’s a mean reaction spell if they want to exile my land creatures.

And I have a Mycoloth for a potential combo of saccing all the forest creatures while Yedora is out, which will then let me bring them back as forests.

I’ve had really good success with the deck so far. All the trample and cards that let me pump my creatures due to how many forests I control, Finale of Devastation, Nissa, Ascended Animist and Conduit of Worlds letting me cast them multiple times, it’s all very fun.

Oh I forgot. I’d been thinking of running stuff like Cankerbloom as well because having a creature that can kill artifacts and enchantments is better than instant spells sometimes due to the commander interaction.

Most of the cards you mentioned I haven’t heard, I’ll definitely check them out.

I haven’t considered a sac outlet, even though I see how it is useful. I guess I’d rather leave the creatures as blockers and let them die from another source.
