Which Commander is the most fun to you?

Hey everyone,

There's yet another post from me. I've posted here a hundred times probably, because I just can't seem to figure it out. I tried all the different commanders. I tried control with Grand Arbiter Augustin IV and Oloro, Ageless Ascetic. I tried aggressive with Xenagos, God of Revels and combo with Teysa, Orzhov Scion and Momir Vig, Simic Visionary. I did, certainly, prox most of the cards, it's okay with my playgroup. Now, I can't say I hated any of those (Okay, I did, Teysa I really didn't like.)

So, the only thing I really figured out is that I don't want to play at all. I think I might really play anthing else. So what I want to do is eventually actually build (and not just mainly prox) a deck and play it for a long time, tuning and tuning it again and again, but I can't seem to find the Commander for me. So, what Commanders do you guys enjoy the most? Which colours do you like? Which commanders are just fun to play? I'd like to point out here that I want a commander that is essential to my gameplan. Just running some card to have the colour identity doesn't do the trick for me (I've seen a lot of 5-Colour decks that just have their commander to have them identity, and stuff with Tasigur, the Golden Fang that basically just has Tasigur on the field always, not really doing all that much other than his ability, which I didn't find all that intriguing.)
As for the type of deck, I can really imagine pretty much anything. Conctrol or Stax seems fine, Combo sounds good, Aggro sounds great, too and Voltron is interesting, too.

I'm grateful for any input and opinions I can get! I really need some inspiration at the moment :D

So I used to play Skithiryx, which was fun and very powerful. Now i'm playing oloro, which has a ton of powerful cards in it, but it just feels kinda slow and clunky so I might be bringing that back to mono-black.

I've also got a bant flicker list with Roon of the Hidden Realm as the general. And i've gotta say, while I almost never actually cast roon, the deck is super fun to play. No real combo's, just ramp, ETB, beat down and utility spells.

One of my favorites is my Riku of Two Reflections what I do is play Zhur-Taa Ancient and a lot of clones and see how many of them I can get, my record is 12 so far, and people don't like to attack you because of what you are giving them but then they forget that those ancients are 7/5's!

Odric, Master Tactician for sure. Getting to decide who dies on a given turn without them being able to do a whole lot about it is just so rewarding.

As for something I've built, Melek, Izzet Paragon is a very fun commander to play with, especially with effects that cause chaos. I cast and copied Temporal Mastery six times off the top of my library once.

As for something I've borrowed, Maelstrom Wanderer takes the cake without a doubt. Cascading into Jokulhaups to kill everything then cascading into Mind's Desire to reveal Biorhythm off the top is a very fun way to win a game.

Braids, Conjurer Adept give everyone all the cards. Play stuff for free. It gets madcap fast.

The best idea when choosing a commander for a deck you want to be able to play for a long time enjoyably is to find one that allows multiple directions you can build your deck in. That way you get to avoid the tired repitition of winning via the same three combos every game, or swinging in voltron for 21 every game, ect ect. It can be difficult to make a good deck out of multiple win directions sometimes, but on the other hand it makes it so you dont get pigeon holed and almost always have a way to win. Marath, Will of the Wild is a good example of those kinds of commanders.

My favorites have been Jhoira of the Ghitu and Niv-Mizzet, the Firemind because of all the disgustingly broken things you can do with them.

My favorite without a doubt is my Captain Sisay deck. So many different places and things to take her. While the deck is certainly not reliant on having her on the field, you'll just crush yer opponents faster if they leave her unanswered as you can search for whatever you want to shut them down, such as Linvala, Iona, or Elesh Norn. But what also makes her amazing? Say you really don't need a creature but you need that land more....well you can also find any legendary land, too. She's my favorite commander without a doubt. Green/white makes for interesting colors, too.

Feldon of the Third Path because I get to do all sorts off fun things with timmy creatures or spend turn after turn reanimating Solemn Simulacrum for incremental value.

Nekusar, the Mindrazer is a lot of fun because I get to draw cards, and you get to draw cards and lose life. I don't have to tap creatures to attack, I just have to sit back and watch you bleed.

Rith, the Awakener is a blast. Make tokens. Then make even more tokens. Its a blast. Phenax, God of Deception has been a blast as well because how often is it you win by milling?

I like my Iroas, God of Victory deck. Make a bunch of weenies, wait for everyone to die, then drop a bunch of banner effects and swing for game. So much fun. I also am making a new deck around Endrek Sahr, Master Breeder that is all about sacrifice effects and making a bunch of tokens to sacrifice for the mana for big demons. Plus you drop a Grave Pact and/or Dictate of Erebos and watch as no one has creatures and you have more than enough =D

My Riku deck is my fallback list when I want to play a fun deck. Though it's not casual at all, it has so many varied playstyles (unlike my Mimeoplasm or Derevi combo decks), that no one game is alike.

A friend of mine swears by his Rafic Exalted/Infect. And it's a solid deck, but-unfortunately-there's no list here.

I disagree that Tasigur requires being in play. At least, the way I run him doesn't. (Tasigur's Courtroom)

Narset, Enlightened Master, Treva, the Renewer and Rith, the Awakener can be a lot of fun. Salmonman1064 has an amazing and highly original Kresh build.

My personal favorites are Kaalia of the Vast and Narset, Enlightened Master. Kaalia is one of the only aggro decks I'll ever like because I've put so much effort into building it exactly the way I wanted it with all of my favorite Angels and then some. Narset is my favorite shenanigans deck since I went with super friends, and it's so insane and complicated and just so fun to play.

I'm really enjoying my surrak Dragon claw deck right now. I get to cast any creature with impunity? Oh why not! Do I win all the time, nah but the fear in people's eyes when they can't counter avenger of zendikar is priceless. =)

I run a Arcanis the Omnipotent deck and honestly I have a blast with it. Like I've found the commanders that allow the most flexibility helps play best.

I've also been running a Momir Vig deck recently, and using him with Prophet just makes for some ungodly multiplayer rounds.

I second Roon of the Hidden Realm. I find that it is my favorite of the 3 commander decks that I own, and flicker/blink decks naturally lend themselves to tweaking and constant improvements as there are often new cards worth testing out. You can play midrange, control, or combo with Roon, often in the same deck. Check out the list on my profile if you're looking for an example of what a tuned multiplayer Roon list looks like.

I enjoy playing Talrand, Sky Summoner the most ... but it drives people crazy a little bit when it does what it is supposed to do ... so I picked up a bunch of other things too to make sure I can play whatever seems socio-politically strategic (and fun - I hate being one of 3 reanimator players at one table for instance) considering my mood at any given moment and what everyone else is running.

I run Teysa, Orzhov Scion and Arcanis the Omnipotent, and though Teysa is admittedly stronger (and you hated apparently lol which i can understand) I have SO much fun running Arcanis.

Roon, Marath and Odric seem like a lot of fun to me.
Bant is an amazing set of colours and I like that in Bant there's just no anger and hate. At least not in the colours. In some way, I'm a hippie and somewhat oppoed to red and very opposed to black. Marath has this primal thing within it, I just wonder what do you build around him/her? Ramp and Naya goodstuff? And Odric seems just awesome. I've never even thought about mono coloured. Has anyone tried Mono-Green Elves? Is it fun? Is it good?

My favorite commander to play would have to be Animar, Soul of Elements. He's fun, competitive, and he enables a lot of random little zany combos like Cloudstone Curio + Ulamog, the Infinite Gyre + any other free creature spell. He can also consistently win on turn three if you decide to play Imperial Animar (combo).

Nekusar, the Mindrazer because chaining a bunch of wheel spells together while making your opponents eat damage is fun.
