PLANNING a SCHEME (Esper Reanimator (20 tix))

Modern Budget Dredge Reanimator WUB (Esper)

Sideboard

A fun, cheap reanimator list I threw together. You can easily get out any of the big threats in this deck on turn 4, and continue bringing new ones out pretty quickly. For value, throw in some flashbacked Lingering Souls for chump blockers, or decent beaters if Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite is out. Raven's Crime and Esper Charm mostly in to discard your threats if you happen to draw into one, with some other good options on Esper Charm as well.

Piloting the deck is mostly straightforward, but in an ideal game, you're able to Contingency Plan / Taigam's Scheming turn 2, and set yourself up with whatever you need from there. Which is usually another Contingency Plan / Taigam's Scheming . Most turns you aren't reanimating, you're planning or scheming (do you get it now? the name of the deck? lol). With 8 copies in the deck, and each digging 5 deep, you're usually hitting another every time. If not, Forbidden Alchemy is in mostly as a backup. Turn 4 should consist of either flashing back Unburial Rites , or hardcasting Zombify from your hand, targeting any threat you have in your graveyard.

The deck would probably be a little more consistent if you stuck with three top end threats and had three-ofs or four-ofs instead of having five and they're all two-ofs, but I like the variation of each game, and potential toolbox this way provides. Feel free to do whatever.

The sideboard could probably use a bit of work. The biggest problem is, like any graveyard based deck, things like Leyline of the Void , Rest in Peace , and Relic of Progenitus just completely turn the deck off. Esper Charm with two more in the side, Negate , and Unmoored Ego can help with this.

The list is already super cheap, but if you wanted to knock it down even further, you could just find new reanimation targets at the top end, such as Magister Sphinx , Zetalpa, Primal Dawn , Noxious Gearhulk etc.

A few upgrades if you wanted to up the price could be Griselbrand , Emrakul, the Aeons Torn , and probably Engineered Explosives and Leyline of Sanctity for the sideboard
