I just REALIZED Azorius Control isn't a MYTH.

Standard* Combo Control WU (Azorius)

Sideboard

Wait. A control deck in constructed... That DOESN'T play any black cards?

With that ridiculous introduction aside, this is quite possible the most consistent control deck or even the most consistent deck in standard at the moment. With the new tools found in Origins, white removal is already significantly better than that of black, and that will be even more apparent come rotation.

So why is it consistent? Let's break the deck down.

The Removal:

So there's the white portion. What about preventing spells from being cast?

The Counterspells ( Gaea's Revenge players skip this section):

Not a lot of counters in the mainboard. Even still, 8 of them do a lot of work.

The Card Advantage:

The Finishers:

  • Narset Transcendent: Her first ability hits every spell in the mainboard except Dragonlord Ojutai, which I won't complain about if I see it on top of my library.

  • Dragonlord Ojutai: It's a threat that has to be dealt with. Otherwise, they're dead and I'm ahead in tempo and in card advantage. Running 1 because it's not a primary wincon.

  • Myth Realized: ... But this is. This card can end a game and most people won't even notice it. Considering there are 36 cards in the mainboard that will trigger this ability, it's going to grow... and it's going to grow fast. These will consistently grow to be 8/8's or sometimes a 10/10 or 12/12 might appear. It's also an infinite mana dump when I have no card advantage spells to cast at the end of my opponent's turn. I can just pay the mana I was saving for a Devouring Light on a 1/1 counter. But the best thing about this card is its ability to dodge removal. It dodges every boardwipe (because they are all at sorcery speed), most ETB effects, and a lot more. It's the cheapest and one of the most consistent finishers, From experience, it definitely shows.

But what about the sideboard?

The Games 2 & 3:

So that's it! Let me know what you think. Feedback is always more than appreciated!

Updates Add

Again, most likely won't have the chance to playtest this at FNM until November (aka once everyone starts playing tier 1 decks), but my deck is ready for post-rotation! For now, I won't update it any further until then!
