Shisato, Whispering Hunter Discussion

Scarlet2009 Well, i'm bothering tapping creatures because that's how i want to create the deck, combining tapping effects of some Snakes, with some blue tapping spells, and then using Shisato, Whispering Hunter to block the opponent. I just love the idea to create this control

I've been wanting to brew up blue/green snakes for a while. My idea was to discard Sosuke's Summons to activate Vivien's Arkbow , and find a snake, to get the all the Summons back from my graveyard ready to discard again. Bonus points for finding a Mystic Snake in response to an opponent's spell.
In my experience, Orochi Eggwatcher is underrated powerful: as soon as it flips, the game will end: you attack, and sacrifice each blocked creature to pump unblocked creatures.

Hi everybody, i'm new in this forum, and my first thread is about my first deck. The idea of this deck is based on Kaminagawa's edition Snakes, who most of them, when inflict damage to a creature, make them TAP and don't UNtap during the opponent's turn, plus using some blu sorcery or instant who can TAP other creatures. The ultimate combo that i have in mind for this deck is to play Shisato, Whispering Hunter , maybe equipped with some Aura or Equipment who give him the protection from abilites or spell, or being unblockable (like Whispersilk Cloack), and then strat attack the opponent, using blue Istant or Sorcery to TAP his creatures (who will not UNtap until Shisato will be able to continue to attack), maybe with Nature's Will in play to also TAP his lands.
The problem is...what type of creatures and spell i need to have, to achieve this result? I've already have this deck, with some snakes who give me mana, like Sakura-Tribe Elder , Coiling Oracle or Orochi Sustainer , some combat snakes like Matsu-Tribe Sniper , Matsu-Tribe Decoy , Sosuke, Son of Seshiro , Seshiro the Anointed , Patagia Viper , Lorescale Coatl or some big snakes like Patron of the Orochi or Hooded Hydra ... but how can i build my deck to work fine? With which type and how many TAP spells?
If you have any suggestions, i'm all listening

I like this list a lot! See you taking advantage of Yawgmoth. Made for Hapatra.
What are your thoughts on Shisato, Whispering Hunter ? Only viable in snake tribal and you have ways of giving it haste. Strong blue effect for Golgari deck. Seems viable.
Evolution Sage proliferate would be useful.

Have you tried Shisato, Whispering Hunter ? I want to try him, but I don't know how good he'll be. It seems decent if the game gets grindy. Also, I would love to know how Runic Armasaur has worked. It seems like a really good card, but it hasn't really worked out in my playgroup.
Also congrats on the cradle!

Wow! Quite a few comments to respond to!
smashadams83: Hmmm. Of those, I really do need to acquire a Phyrexian Tower and find a slot for Eternal Witness. Not too much of a fan of Necrotic Ooze when it only works for one combo, but I'll consider it :) you're correct on the creature count, but there's a limiting factor where I have to have enough -1 counter granting effects...
seshiro_of_the_orochi: I'd expect this comment with a name like that! Honestly, I used to run him, but as a six-drop I'm not sure he does enough to justify his inclusion. If this deck ever shifts to be more combat-focussed again, he'll probably go back in.
KongMing: Thanks for the comment! Hapatra is un-American scum, confirmed. I used to run Shisato, Whispering Hunter in the past, but unless an opponent is tapped out he doesn't do as much as I'd want. The others seem too mana-intensive for their effects, I'm afraid.
GrimReaper0602: While Harbinger of Night and Midnight Banshee have some issues, they're also some of my only ways to place -1 counters on all creatures on the battlefield. Until more effects are printed that can do so, I can't easily remove them.
Flint2: I completely agree that Midnight Banshee+Hapatra, Vizier of Poisons+Obelisk Spider is a nasty piece of work, haha. I've enjoyed it a lot whenever I've pulled it off. I'll pass on the token-doublers, though.
Thanks you all for your comments!

Ill try to keep budget low, I dont know how good you want this deck to be, but we can definitely make it pretty nasty on a budget aside from mana base. I personally think you should focus on B/W/R This gives you good draw, good stax peices, and extra combat turns. Some of these cards have alternate prints that are a bit cheaper. But i think this is a good start
Alesha, Who Smiles at Death Hidden commander
Meekstone Since you get untap effects, should really help slow others down. Add in some other stax peices as you get budget if you want to keep tuning it, but alot of good stax cards are a little higher costed

This deck has no Red, White, or Blue. Obviously this makes Hapatra a sneaky unpatriotic terrorist, so I will recommend some Snakes for her.
One possibility might be Sachi, Daughter of Seshiro. Her ability to make your Snakes' butts bigger means they can take an extra -1/-1 counter before dying, so you'll get twice the token generation out of Nest of Scarabs/Hapatra. You also have a handful of Shamans in the deck that can benefit from her second ability. One of the bigger downsides of her is that she doesn't apply to your Insects, just your Snakes, so the overall synergy could be better.
Also, just in case you need more Snake generation, there's always Orochi Hatchery. Even though you seem to get Snakes just fine in other ways, it's a token generator that can survive a creature-targeted boardwipe - you'll have something left after the Wrath of God/Blasphemous Act clears the field.
One more sneaky snake suggestion: How about Shisato, Whispering Hunter? You'll generate enough Snakes to keep him from sacrificing himself. Once he's on the field, if opponents don't have a way to remove him immediately, he'll break morale across the board as people fear tapping anything. You already have some stuff for sneaking Hapatra damage through that could apply to him (Shizo, Death's Storehouse for example), and could even add the incredibly mana-intense Rogue's Passage if you felt like cutting a colored mana.
I think I remember commenting/upvoting/viewing/whatevering this deck a year back. It looks even deadlier now! Well done.
