skoobysnackz Deckling

Hey there I'm skoobysnackz. I've been playing magic since the end of 2015. I started out playing only modern and lots of control decks, which is still my favorite strategy. However, I now also play much more casual, combo oriented decks in both modern and commander/EDH. My favorite creatures are Hypnotoad, and Puff the Magic Dragon. Here are links to my modern decks that are centered around them: All Glory to the Hypnotoad, and Puff the Magic Dragon. My favorite color combos are Esper (), Sultai (), and Grixis (), with Temur () close behind. My favorite commander at the moment is Taigam, Sidisi's Hand because of his lock combo with Maralen of the Mornsong and Mindlock Orb here is my take on the deck: Taigam and Maralen's Sinister Song. If you like any of my decks don't hesitate to let me know, especially if you have suggestions. I'd like to mention, though, that there are a few cards I will almost always exclude from my decks: Emrakul, the Aeons Torn, Tarmogoyf, Liliana of the Veil, Mana Drain, Force of Will, Necropotence, and Ad Nauseam. I feel that these cards are too unbalanced and take the fun out of the games they appear in, but I will not hold it against anyone else for playing them. Finally, I think it is important to say that if you like any deck (not just mine) enough to put it into a folder, or to comment something like "nice deck", just give the deck an upvote. It costs you nothing and shows the deck is appreciated.

Turns out the end brace uses a backslash instead of a forward slash. I got it working thank you so much! Evidence

Thank you for the quick reply! I really appreciate that. Unfortunately I tried throwing your code into my description and something didn't work. I took out the space between < and "link" like you said. I even added the missing "/>" closing brace at the end. I'm not sure what's wrong, I'm positive I used exactly what you gave me.

DoctorBees the song is actually called Planet Caravan, it's by Black Sabbath (a totally underappreciated side of their music btw).

Hey Tardigrade_Cain, You got some real interesting suggestions! I really like Unwinding Clock in principle, but I only have 4 instant speed cards so I'm not entirely sure it's as useful as it seems since Winter Orb and Hokori, Dust Drinker don't affect mana rocks. Gold Myr and Palladium Myr seem like reasonable mana generators. The Urza lands are a great suggestion, especially with Weathered Wayfarer; I'll try to work in a Treasure Map as well. Endbringer is a really creative card, I'm glad you suggested it, it should be a nice fit. Lastly, Sun Titan is here for bringing back lands, mana rocks etc. that die to Armageddon, Hour of Revelation, Purify etc. (I will often try to equip him with Darksteel Plate, or give him Gift of Immortality or Shielded by Faith). The goal here is to destroy our opponent's mana generators while still being able to use ours. It also synergizes really well Emeria, The Sky Ruin, and with no Crucible of Worlds it can help set up the Dust Bowl/Strip Mine land lock.

Hey, I kind of have a formatting question for you. How do you get the youtube video to start without having to click on it? I've been trying to figure it out for a while, but I'm not very familiar with code and all that so all I've been able to figure out so far is how to embed the video.

Thanks for the suggestion kameenook, I suppose Vault of the Archangel is really only useful if I'm running low on life in the late game. Tectonic Edge is probably a better alternative for the control matchups, but honestly, I think Ghost Quarter is probably even better.

I was editing a couple decks at the same time and I decided to delete one of them but I deleted the other one instead. Is there a way to get it back or do I just have to build it again?

Hey, I recently did an Ixalan draft and pulled a foil Growing Rites of Itlimoc. It got me thinking that it could be quite powerful in this deck just as a singleton, given that most of the creatures tend to stick around for the whole game. It could also help you sift through duplicates of the gods that you have already played. Maybe remove a land or a Bounty of the Luxa for it?

Hey there, I just drafted an Ixalan deck very similar to this. One thing I can tell you is that it is much more powerful and fun that it seems (I still wouldn't say it's competitive, but definitely a strong casual deck). The first piece of advice I can give you is to reduce your number of 4+ cmc cards down from 24 to about 10 or so. Yes you can ramp with treasures, but you currently don't have many treasure making cards that are low on your curve.

I would suggest starting by cutting Deadeye Plunderers as it seems slow and a bit underwhelming. Replacing a few Spell Swindles with Lookout's Dispersal is probably a good idea as well. You probably want to go with the full playset of Opt, the card is just too good. cutting a few of your ETB pirates for Siren's Ruse is a great way to reduce your cmc without reducing the number of ETB triggers. It's also good evasion and draws you a card which is nice. Another card to consider with all your treasures is Herald of Anguish.

Finally, the most important piece of advice I can give you here is to consider using red. By far the best card in the deck I drafted was Makeshift Munitions. Revel in Riches just seems too slow for standard (EDH is a whole different story). Red also gives you access to Captain Lannery Storm, Wily Goblin, and Kari Zev, Skyship Raider which is pretty cool with Prying Blade. To be clear, I am not saying you should follow all of my advice here. I encourage you to be original and try new things, but this is what I have to say given the experience I had playing a similar deck. If you would like to see what my version of the deck would look like, check out Pirate Booty.

Thanks a lot seshiro_of_the_orochi, I appreciate it! I hadn't thought of Firedrinker Satyr, it's definitely an interesting suggestion. I think this deck might be just a little too slow to be able to handle the "anti-lifelink" as you said. Nevertheless, I'll do a little testing with it to see for sure.
