I'm starting this to hear the community's stories about Commander. This can be anything from politics to cool plays to anything else. For example, I was playing a slightly modified Lord Windgrace precon with my playgroup, and it was down to two of us, and I could easily kill my opponent. Instead, I gave him a deal: As long as he doesn't attack me, I'll leave him alone. He accepted gladly. But then, on his upkeep, I used Vedalken Orrery to flash out Thantis, the Warweaver and the whole table laughed as he slowly died inside.

I went into a game store and a dishevelled looking guy was sitting alone at a table, shuffling a deck - he hopefully asked me "You gotta edh deck?" I replied "Yeah, sure man, let's have a game". He revealed Markov as his Commander and muttered that it was basically just the precon...I said that my Ur-Dragon Tribal was basically the precon too because I didn't want to make him feel bad about his current situation in life.

My first turn: Ditch Snow-Covered Forest for Mox Diamond, play and crack Scalding Tarn for Badlands -> Demonic Tutor to find Mana Crypt. His Turn: Drops a Plains.

My Second Turn - play and crack Windswept Heath for Taiga, play Mana Crypt for Thunderbreak Regent. His Second Turn: Drops another Plains and bitches about being mana-screwed.

My Third Turn: Coin flip- Zero Damage, play and crack Polluted Delta for Volcanic Island play Dragon Tempest, play Mystical Tutor search for Mana Vault play Mana Vault, cast Scourge of the Throne. Swing in for 10 damage with Thunderbreak Regent and Scourge of the Throne.

The guy looks at me completely deadpan and says: "That is NOT just the precon dude."

I was playing 1v1, Jeleva, Nephalia's Scourge for me (act of treason.dec) vs Karametra, God of Harvests (big fatties).

My opponent is ramping like crazy, I'm just trying to stay ahead. He's got his commander and a handful of mana dorks, I've got a sol ring and a few random lands. Oh, and a Goblin Bombardment. I top deck Dark Ritual and use it to cast Treacherous Urge. Low and behold, Kozilek, Butcher of Truth.

It hurts and slows him down a bit, but not enough. A few little things back and forth, he drops his commander, I drop mine (not good of the exile). He's got a ton of mana now and Parallel Lives. I've got not much still, but I'm at a little less then twice his life total.

He casts Storm Herd. Its a decent amount of flyers but with Parallel Lives? Not good.

Except. I have a Reverberate.

Now we both have an army, but its a stalemate, who's gonna swing first?

No one, I'm looking over my board and remember Goblin Bombardment. My opponent dies with a few dozen pegasus thrown at his face.

Friend swung in with Kaalia of the Vast and the rest of his creatures to deal the finishing blow to his opponent but chose to put in Sunblast Angel using Kaalia's ability. He then tried to take back the move but we didn't let him!

One of my favorite memories was in a 4 player game back when I still had my Vorel of the Hull Clade edh deck together like 3 years ago.

I had a 9/9 Sphinx of Magosi and decided to go to combat and attack one of my friends with it who had a weaker flier to block. He chose to rather let the damage go through and that’s when another of our group who did next to nothing that entire game because he only had 2 lands and a signet out,(and who had to keep discarding a card for multiple turns) all of a sudden played a Tainted Strike on my Sphinx of Magosi and the look of shock on my opponent was hilarious.

I was playing Rafiq of the Many in a 4 player match. Had the table dead to rights. Rafiq had a total of 52 power with various equipment and auras on him as well as a Finest Hour out. So I would be killing two people my turn. Buddy of mine looks over my field and says to me You look like you need a land. Of course I'm like huh?

He says again you need a land. I go uh no I don't I have 10 land in play. I'm good. He says no you really need a land. I go what's wrong with y....NO don't you dare! Path of Exile Rafiq? The amount of anger and rage I showed after that. The rest of the table were in tears laughing so hard.

I was shortly hated out of the match fairly quickly.

A few years ago I was playing with my brother and my friend. I was on The Mimeoplasm, my brother was on Brago, King Eternal, and my friend was on Lazav, Dimir Mastermind. 3 control decks caused the game to go for almost 3 hours. Cyclonic Rift was cast 5 times and the Lazav deck ran out of his 20+ counterspells. He ended up winning by playing out Mesmeric Orb and then playing Copy Artifact and Clever Impersonator to mill us all out. It sounds boring but it was hilarious.

First day after the release of the latest commander precons, playing Lord Windgrace basically out of the box. Among the other players was another, very upgraded Windgrace deck. At one point, the other Windgrace deck cast a Torment of Hailfire for 8 or so. I cast Fury Storm to copy it twice, forcing him to undergo the torment process 16 times, and everyone else 24 times, while I’m able to survive. Naturally, Fury Storm was one of the first cards I cut, and my current list has its own Torment of Hailfire
