One neat but somewhat cheesy thing I did with my Omnath deck was to abuse Primal Surge. It's not difficult at all to cast in most situations and if you cut back on the non-permanents, you can play your entire deck, save like 10 cards.

I actually had Primal Surge in this but it was not well received by my play group lol

Cleaned up the comments and update sections! I have added in Khalni Hydra, Vigor, and Garruk Wildspeaker for some extra fun!

I'm seeing a good amount of green devotion here with all the double green+ mana costs here and Nykthos, Shrine to Nyx and Karametra's Acolyte, but I'm not seeing reliability on getting them out. I would add Worldly Tutor and Sylvan Scrying at the very least in order to increase their frequency. I would also put in Primalcrux to feed devotion and to be a big creature.

You have a decent amount of land-based effects here, and I would recommend Boundless Realms to take advantage of it.

Lastly, Doubling Cube is a huge asset to Omnath and makes casting your creatures easier, especially considering over half of your creature base (29/41) is CMC 4+.

Thank you for the advice! I definitely agree there needs to be a couple more tutors in the deck. I usually rely on Lurking Predators, See the Unwritten, and others like them to get additional creatures out, but it would help to have one or two more.

I have thought about getting Boundless Realms and Doubling Cube but at this point I am running out of things that I want to take out. What would you suggest I look into replacing the new cards with?

I would take out Akroma's Memorial and Cryptolith Rite for similar reasons.

Rite is great in a deck where you have lots of cheap creatures in large quantities. The quantity of creatures is there, but they are too expensive to justify having your creatures be mana dorks. Llanowar Elves and variants should be fine.

Memorial also good in a deck that uses rite, ones that have lots of small and cheap creatures. But here it does nothing or is win-more. You either cast it and the effect is useless due to the sheer number of anti-flying tech here or you have no creatures left to attack with. On the flip side however, if you're in a position to swing and kill everyone else, the memorial is overkill.

I think you are right about Rite especially seeing as how I almost never get it out anyway. I will look at taking it out!

But I have Memorial there because I play casually against a lot of red/black spot removal decks and am the only person who consistently plays green. The protection of red/black has proved invaluable on numerous occasions. It is also there to combat the flying attacks when I can't pull cards like Hornet Queen or Whirlwind.

I just acquired Birthing Pod which I think I will put in here in lieu of Rite. It is not the best tutor, but I can't afford Worldly Tutor at this time. Good news is that I get to put the creature on the battlefield.

I would swap out Acidic Slime for Reclamation Sage just because it costs less mana to cast, unless you want if for the land destruction and deathtouch. Also adding Polukranos, World Eater or Hydra Broodmaster would be great.

I do play with a group that using specialty lands very frequently that can just overwhelm the board state, so I do like the option to destroy those lands with Acidic Slime. But both of those hydras, while great in their own rights, don't really fit the feel of this deck I think. The major theme being to get mana and trample all over. Direct damage and token creation would be straying from the main theme. Although admittedly, I do have several creatures that create tokens, so I might consider Broodmaster.

Thanks for the suggestions! Both are great cards and I will look into getting them for this deck. Any recommendations on what you think I should remove?

I feel like Azusa, Lost but Seeking would combo well with your commander getting more lands out quickly.

Honestly I would love to have Azusa, but since she costs bigger $$$ than most of the cards I have, it would be a special case for me to get her in the deck. Definitely a great suggestion though! Most of the cards that get more than one land out each turn are expensive. That's partially why I like Into the Wilds because it does not count towards your normal turn for land.

I think 42 creatures is quite much even for a creature based strategy. I'd personally cut some of them for spells like: Genesis Wave as a mana sink and win con, Beast Within since it's the best green removal, Garruk, Primal Hunter for card draw and some artifact and entchantment removal with Nature's Claim and Krosan Grip because green is just so good in it. Doubling Cube is definetly a must-include imo.

I really haven't ever had a trouble with so many creatures, but removal is definitely something that this deck lacks especially with artifacts/enchantments. The key to this deck is to get the giant creatures out quickly and not give my opponents a chance to use their own enchantments or artifacts. Definitely good suggestions and I will look into getting them to change the dynamic just a bit.

I think a big card you should definitely have in this deck is Primal Surge, especially with the large amount of permanents you have in here, otherwise really nice Omnath deck!

I have actually had Primal Surge in here before. I have just found that while it is hilarious to cast and definitely a game finisher, I prefer winning slower because I can enjoy playing and see more combos come out. That being said, it is just one card in the deck. What would you recommend that I trade it in for?

And thanks!

Well, a card I find pretty funny for Omnath decks is Squall Line or if you want to go with a mana ramp route, I really like Sakiko, Mother of Summer

StumpyIB says... #22

I just recently saw Sakiko! Very interesting possibilities since I have tons of trample... Squall line is a good flying eliminator for sure, I just worry about the damage it would do to me!

I am considering putting Mirage Mirror into this deck. What do you guys think? I think there are some great combos with several cards aside from the obvious that I can use it to copy my opponents creatures.

I have a few new cards on the way and do not know what to take out. I have Oracle of Mul Daya, Protean Hulk, and Defense of the Heart. Anyone have recommendations on what to take out for these?

The only cards that I thought looked a little under-powered were Decimator of the Provinces, Mossbridge Troll, and Seed Guardian.

If you are interested Aspect of Mongoose, and Mask of Avacyn are some low mana cost cards if you need extra protection. The best part about those cards is that they can be reused.
