More Dredge, Less Vine

Modern Dredge

Sideboard

While I still enjoy my Dredgevine I feel like it can be taken in a better direction. When I was developing my list I was pointed towards Lee Shi Tian's deck which I happily took some great ideas from.

So I have done away with the Vengevine plan as it was proving to be too mana intensive and required a lot of hoops to be jumped through. This new dredge build has shifted to the more attrition style of decks.

Utilising free and recurable creatures like Narcomoeba, Bloodghast and the new Prized Amalgam. This build allows for both a highly aggressive start and a more grindy attrition mid-late game. This is due to you constantly are gaining both card and mana advantage against your opponent as it costs them resources to answer your threats while it costs you nothing to bring them back again and again.

This decks engine is the keyword Dredge; by running Golgari Grave-Troll, Stinkweed Imp, Life from the Loam & Dakmor Salvage as well as the Darkblasts from the sideboard, you are able to maintain a constant flow of cards hitting your graveyard.

You get these dredgers initially in to the graveyard via Faithless Looting, Tormenting Voice and the other new Innistrad card Insolent Neonate.

My favourite part of this build is that if you go to the long game you can use Conflagrate as a finisher. By playing and dredging back Life from the Loam, each time filling your hand with lands which allows you to discard Conflagrate for a large amount.

If you have any thoughts or ideas please share them I am happy to take them on board as I think this deck has a strong future in the modern format.

Updates Add

Goodbye Golgari Grave-Troll Hello Golgari Thug

Other changes have been made; due to the lower dredge count I have added one Shriekhorn and cut the main deck Darkblast.

I am expecting the use of Cage to rise I have adjusted the sideboard to reflect that.
