if you need a tutor use Diabolic Tutor , the most literal and effective tutor legal in modern, although Demonic Tutor is better but not modern legal.

so Grave Titan is the quintessential control finisher/ beater because a) he brings friends for chump blocking 2) deathtouch on a 6/6 for 6 is ridiculously awesome 3) did i mention he brings friends.
from personal experience I run an esper teachings deck that has stabilized at 5 life and one the game on the back of this baddy and Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir

I think you will find as you play modern that you will want the Think Twice is clunky and you might want 1 more arena leaving you 2 slots for either spot removal or some more hand control.
which brings me to the discard. Distress might be better as an Inquisition of Kozilek seeing as it hits goyf bob deciever exarch if twin is a thing in your meta.

he's suggesting that an agro deck on crack could put you in a bad place early. But with the banning of Bloodbraid jund and rug lost a lot of speed and you can stabilize early enough that the initial life loss is insignificant

for your sideboard, you might want to try Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir . i know that he really isn't used much in modern, but he completely hoses control, and gives all of your spell flash.

Current list seems great! I dont like the second grave titan tough, I just dont like more than 1 creature finisher for this list. I would rather return to Ral as he kinda ramps. Night of souls betrayal is a nice sideboard tech ;)

More control less ramp. Use cards like remand electrolyze. Cards tat have cantrips to help u get threw ur deck quicker to also help with crucial land drops. Which u should up to 25 you can't rely on Gilded Lotus

Gilded lotus is great if you just can't get up to 8, it's a great slot in this deck, but I'll add more control, that's a good idea

I understand where ur wanting to go with it. With that said u will get out classed on the control end by u/w-x more then u like. Modern is a very diverse meta where control is hardcore control, combo is king and Jund isn't the monster it used to be.

Remand is only good for combo decks and in a deck like this might be better replaced with Mana Leak Spell Snare or Spell Pierce
Ral Zarek doesnt advance your plan like Lily does so I would get rid of him bump lilly up and up 1 Electrolyze
i would cut your artifact ramp as they eat up turns that could be better spent controlling the board state.
I would replace them with more versatile things such as a Mystical Tutor
package. Using cards like Consume the Meek
Pact of Negation
this will also make your deck a leaner meaner control machine.
lastly a previous suggestion was Grave Titan and he is much needed in this deck.
also this deck is wanting for discard. if Thoughtseize is out of your price range I recommend Duress as it can tear some scary things a Smother couldnt take care of.

You need to take this deck one of two ways. Either make it about surviving until you can ramp into Bolas, or about winning through board control, card advantage, and evasive beaters. Right now the big spenders will kill your curve. And while this would be fine in Standard, it simply isn't fast enough for Modern. Turn 4 is when the game ends. Either Aggro won, Combo combo'd, or control has control. I really don't think you can pull that off with this build. Not to mention you would fold to a little disruption.
Cards like Dissipate , Far / Away , and Olivia Voldaren just aren't as good as modern options, either.

Just search around for what people use, look at some high-ranking lists, and what you'll be up against in the Modern Meta.
Oh, and Grave Titan ? If you want to make the deck about surviving for bignigs then add more rocks and 1/2 more Bolas.

I think you are going to need fetchlands with all those colored mana symbols. That will help you with color consistency.
I don't much like the Signets in modern, though they're good in Commander. I think I would rather just have 3x Blightning or 3x Wrench Mind .
While I like Ral Zarek for being bolt on a stick, I think Liliana Vess might have a place in this deck because she will tutor for Bolas.

I would LOVE to have fetches, but I don't have a source of cashflow. Are there any other better rocks to use other than the signets? And lilly's a good idea, but the problem is the cost, and I'm already running Liliana of the Veil so it could be risky with the planeswalker rule.

musicjunkie I really like all those suggestions. As you were posting that I was actually removing the artifacts haha. Remand is in here because of the draw so i can stall them, and get me going into nicol. Mana Leak was originally in here but was replaced by Remand . But i do think i'll replace Remand with some Pact of Negation and Spell Pierce .
Ral Zarek is in here because i discovered in my standard deck that him and nicol have great synergy. I'm a big fan of ral, for now I'm going to keep him in but I am open to taking him out.
Consume the Meek and some discard are great ideas, i'm gonna add some of that. Also, Grave Titan was in here originally, but he just didn't seem to fit. Why do you think he's needed? I don't doubt you I just would love some convincing haha :)
