The novelty of some of the Universes Beyond sets and subsets certainly resonate with me. Whilst not feeling completely "MtG", it is cool to have some things I'd not expect to be in the game without actually having to play a different game. And that's what sent me to get Soundwave.

There was no real idea for building around Soundwave when I purchased him. I already have a kind of Token Zoo EDH going but I felt I really needed to lean into tokens of some description with this deck. And then inspiration hit with Thopters, Servos and how would Transformers really make sense in the realms of Magic: The Gathering.

Artificers became the first thematic focus and helped me get some creature-access to the aforementioned Thopter and Servo tokens. Next I looked towards Vehicles with Crew, seeing this as a similar function to "robots" turning into vehicles. And then bolstering out more of the deck were Automatons and some Kamigawa pieces that just fit the theme itself.

From here it was just aiming to have other pieces "make sense" as far as the deck being thematically "Transformers-esque in MtG". So removal spells may not be optimal or plentiful, although artwork-wise, these cards were what you may expect from robots/automatons/constructs.

Updates Add

Wasn't expecting to hold my own so well with this deck but it had some great resilience once I got some Servo tokens going. Bloodline Pretender chose Servo's as I had a Hidden Stockpile in play to keep feeding him each end step and scry for 1. Fleetwheel Cruiser made a solid pairing next to Soundwave, Sonic Spy  Flip whilst I continued to find ways to get more Servo & Thopter tokens out. But the pinnacle for me was being able to cast March of Progress for it's Overload cost which took me from being insignificant on the board to an immediate threat. Far more fun than I expected and happy with how thematic the deck truly felt!
