I first started playing MtG about 10 years ago via janky kitchen-table "Modern" with my college friends. We dove into EDH around 2019 & haven't looked back since.

I aim for high-powered casual, & when it makes sense to, usually include at least 1 combo wincon to help close grindy games. I like to have some variance in my play & only run a couple of suboptimal tutors in my combo-y decks.

is quickly becoming my favorite 3 color combo. Red & Black have grown on me the most since I've started playing MtG, especially EDH, and are probably my favorite single colors.

If you want an idea of my meta check out our page Mages of Magic Meta. Deck lists may vary by account, but this is more or less a list of the commanders in the meta, and a hub to our accounts and deck lists.

I will be posting to Tappedout less frequently, and eventually transition to primarily using Moxfield. You can find me here if you're interested.

You definitely have the beginning of a solid list here. I'd recommend dropping Zetalpa, Primal Dawn, especially if you don't have more Haste anthems. On that note, I do like your inclusion of Hammer of Purphoros. You could also run Fervor or even Emblem of the Warmind as a couple more redundant options. Goro-Goro, Disciple of Ryusei is another potential option that's also on theme.

Sword of the Chosen is okay, but a bit narrow if you wanted to look for a cut. Zeriam, Golden Wind could also be another potential cut; it's narrow since it is your only Griffin in the deck. Tori D'Avenant, Fury Rider anthems up your whole team, and gives pseudo-vigilance for keeping blockers up. Ratadrabik of Urborg, Hofri Ghostforge, and Garna, the Bloodflame can help round out your creature reanimation/recursion options.

I hope some of these suggestions are helpful.

Thank you for the suggestion Andramalech.

I had Marton Stromgald in an earlier version of the deck, but replaced it with Purphoros, God of the Forge. I like the ETB damage more, & Purphoros is sturdy with Indestructible.

I have a bunch of stuff with some rambles in the "Considerations & Swap Outs" section of my primer. It's kind of a mess in there, so I understand if it's easy to miss. I need to clean my primer up a bit more.

Nice upgrades Hydrax! Glad to see you're enjoying Araumi. I actually took apart my Araumi deck a few months ago to reuse some pieces for Anhelo, the Painter

Solid deck! Lurrus and Elas make for great companions with all of the aristocrats and hate-bears in WB.

My meta is similar to yours in that it also tends to run creature heavy, with go-wide boards being most prevalent; but not battle cruiser per se.

I'm not sure how you feel about combos, but I've started including some simple combos in my decks to help close out games when boards can reach stalemates. I run Leonin Relic-Warder + Animate Dead or Dance of the Dead in my WB deck. This combo could fit pretty seamlessly in your deck, especially with Elas in the command zone to trigger from the combo, and since you already have both auras in your main board.

If you are unfamiliar with the combo, Commander Spellbook has a pretty straight forward walk thru.

I like that each piece of the combo is independently good, so it doesn't necessarily feel bad to draw into a piece and have it feel useless without the others.

Lol no worries CoarselyRefined. I am Latino, but my Spanish is fairly intermediate. Even when I used it at work, I'd still use translator services for written documents to help ensure that my grammar was on the up and up.

While I think it is important for people to learn about the histories and traditions of their own cultures and others, I do hope for a future where cultures will continue to blend and overlap. Very generally and idealistically/optimistically speaking, I think that we all have more in common than divides or defines us.

I've had a lot of fun comparing notes with friends from other cultures in terms of what commonalities our native cuisines have with each other, and all that fun stuff.

I like it! I put together a Tetsuo list shortly after it was spoiled, but scrapped it because it felt all over the place (for me).

Your deck has most of what I was going to recommend, if anything you could maybe cut 1-3 creatures for a few more instants and sorceries. Tetsuo definitely wants a weird balance between spellslinger and equipment/artifacts matter type effects.

Thank you Andramalech, I truly appreciate it. My Isshin deck was previously my Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck, before I recycled her to make this deck. Alesha was similarly loved and updated, and probably my 2nd longest running EDH deck at that point.

Isshin is for sure my favorite commander from this year, with Anhelo, the Painter in second place. As a kid, my dad showed me some of Akira Kurosawa's films like Seven Samurai and The Hidden Fortress. Throughout most of my childhood, my dad had this copy of Miyamoto Musashi's Book of Five Rings on one of his shelves in his home office. I saw it so often it became a background piece. He passed away a few years ago, and I find myself reconnecting with him in the strangest ways. As soon as I realized that Isshin was a nod to Musashi, I knew I had to go hard on this deck.

Thanks for the explanation Andramalech. So, to confirm some games Isshin sits in your command zone as the commander, and other times it will be Jeska & Tymna in the command zone instead? I'm familiar with how partner commanders work, I just wasn't sure if you switched between Isshin and the partners, or if you worked out an agreement with your group to have all 3 in the command zone all at once.

It seems like your deck is more thematically tied to having Samurais and Warriors as your creature types? Kinda like a pseudo-tribal. Depending on your budget, I'd recommend giving Cover of Darkness a look, especially since you already have Conspiracy in your mainboard. You could even include Maskwood Nexus as a second copy of Conspiracy if you really wanted to make sure all of your creatures are Samurai and Warriors.

I've never seen an Isshin build with 3 commanders. I'm curious if all 3 sit in your command zone? I'm guessing that's something you've cleared with your play group based on your profile description.

Thank you for the suggestion KongMing. Mogis's Warhound seems okay.

I recently took this deck apart to recycle some of the pieces for my Zur, Eternal Schemer deck that's visible on my profile. I found that the Voltron strat was a bit too clunky for my meta

Lol thank you CoarselyRefined. I considered putting more of the primer in Spanish, but my own native speaking abilities are a bit rusty, and I didn't want to run everything through deepl.com more.

Spanish was my first language until I started public schooling. Now I just use occasionally at work or with family

I tried deck cycling on the app. I only had 1 available there, and now have -1 deck cycles listed on my profile lmao.
