Creature — Skeleton Knight

Haste

When you gain life for the first time each turn, return Deathless Knight from your graveyard to your hand.

Darth_Savage - Thanks for your thoughts and giving me an excuse to take a break from work!

In regard to graveyard synergy and knights...you are not wrong. Knights are not exactly the most ideal candidates for graveyard mechanics. You did miss Oathsworn Vampire who is similar to Deathless Knight but at least returns to play instead...even if it is tapped. But ya...those two are not exactly going to make any opponent tremble in a deck like this.

You are also not wrong about there being better reanimators out there like Bloodghast and company and that Breathless Knight would definitely shine brighter in a deck filled with those types of creatures. regardless of it not being used to its fullest potential, Breathless Knight + Dauntless Bodyguard + Haakon, Stromgald Scourge due have some great synergy as you can sac the bodyguard to grant indestructibility for a single , recast, and repeat. Recently added that combo and definitely need to capitalize on it more.

I am slowly agreeing with you regarding The Circle of Loyalty. Running a single copy is not ideal and even the games when I do get it, is is usually discarded or not played. I think I can remove that for something better for sure.

You mentioned you feel like the deck is torn in two ways...graveyard synergy and what I am guessing is the discard/madness? Is that right? If so, you are correct...I am trying to build the deck around Haakon and maximize my ability to get him in the graveyard to be played by hitting discards often. So it should feel like that to a degree but still need to likely get this strategy optimized...The recent changes were definitely for the better but not perfect by any means.

I feel like this deck is torn in two dirrections, in part because the only knight outside of Haakon, Stromgald Scourge that has any sort of graveyard synergy is Deathless Knight which let's be honest isn't great...

I'm not sure Breathless Knight is designed for a knight deck, rather it would play better with cards like Bloodghast and Nether Traitor both of which are spirits... Alternatively if you just didn't care about tribal synergies Vengevine and Flamewake Phoenix are some obvious go to recurrable threats.

The Circle of Loyalty is just a bad card, honestly 1 Knights' Charge might be better and it's also a bad card...

Hello,

Deck looks fun, but here's a few other fun things you could consider, maybe as single copies:

Shadowspear You have a lot of big dudes who could gain you a lot of life with the lifelink, the trample can still be nice on your decent creatures that don't already have it, and having the option to get rid of hexproof and indestructible can be nice to have sitting on the board.

The Great Henge You have mostly creatures, and many big ones, so this would be an immediate upgrade to the deck. Even the life gain can be relevant with your Deathless Knight .

Esika's Chariot Could be just a fun thing to play with. It could be interesting to multiply your food tokens with it, or even the giant from Giant Opportunity . Should be easy to crew here too.

Your mana base could benefit from running 4 Darkbore Pathway  Flip and maybe some Fabled Passage especially if you insist on playing Sorcerer's Broom , but personally those would be the first things to go. I'm also not sure how much you like Giant's Skewer but I'm pretty sure you don't need 4 of them either.

Hopefully this will give you some food for thought for your food deck!

Chandra585, I decided against using Basri's Lieutenant because I don't generate many +1/+1 counters, so I didn't think I'd benefit much from it. Whereas I gain a decent amount of life per turn so I figured Deathless Knight can get a lot more run time.

Court Hussar seems weak. Syr Faren, the Hengehammer and Knight of the Reliquary do as well. I would cut all of them for better ramp cards, like Arcane Signet, Fellwar Stone, Coldsteel Heart. Ancient Ziggurat might replace a Transguild Promenade. Order of Midnight also seems weak. Try Belle of the Brawl. Basri's Lieutenant is also really good. It could replace Deathless Knight.

Drag to the Underworld is good in anything exclusively black. With the number of one drops you are playing, you might consider including Shadow Alley Denizen for more evasion. For good two drops, Kitesail Freebooter helps deal with opposition boardwipes that this deck can be susceptible to. Otherwise some card advantage may be needed. A couple Pain Seer, Glint-Sleeve Siphoner, or Blood Scrivener may be good for that. You could also replace one of your various one drops for Foulmire Knight. They are all certainly better than Scrapheap Scrounger because that card doesn't play well with the other cards that recur themselves and it removes from your devotion count if you choose to play any cards with it like Gray Merchant of Asphodel. Drana, Liberator of Malakir is a great way to buff your whole team considering you go pretty wide. Murderous Rider is removal on a stick to add to the copies of Fatal Push. Also, you have no way to recur Deathless Knight, so maybe look at other undercosted beaters like Pitiless Horde, Rotting Regisaur, or Master of the Feast. If you want to stick to the haste theme though, Yahenni, Undying Partisan is excellent.

Ah, I was remembering Sheoldred's text wrong. That makes the comparison a bit less accurate, but I think a CMC of 7 is still the sweet spot.

From an aesthetic point, I do not like how looks - the more hybrid symbols you chain in a row, the messier the mana cost appears to be. Three seems fine, four is fine when it's just those symbols (Deathless Knight), but once you add a generic symbol as well, I think it feels a bit cluttered.

That said, as a mechanics concept, I think that might be the better mana cost to use. You could also make it require two White and to Black mana, which looks a bit better and is more restrictive.

Super cool list! I run something similar with Aphemia, the Cacophony and more of an enchantment theme.

The Binding of the Titans: What issues did you have with the card. It's a great graveyard fuel but with so many Uros around I found that it helps the opponent out sometimes.

Mire Triton+Deathless Knight+Gorging Vulture synergy is something i discovered too. But I also run only 2, the card is not that good, but nice if you get it for free :)
