Added 10 monoblue fetchers just in case things aren't going your way.

Edit: Removed Intuition because its crazy expensive.

Edit Two: Added Omnath, Locus of Mana so you can hold infinite green mana in your mana pool and kick off Pili-Pala on your opponents turns.

hi

thetntm, 12 years ago

quick update: i haven't been paying attention to this anymore, but i know you guys have been telling me to put more cards in this deck. well, after i used this deck in a tappedout tournament, it stopped working. but thats not the point. the point is, the most powerful card you need in this deck is simply steeped lynx. turn three: i hit you with a 12/12 steeped lynx.

Took out 2x Manor Skeleton and 1x Gravecrawler for 3x Diregraf Ghoul. Would make for more keepable hands in the long run.

FNM: Swing #2 at standard

DeftMunky, 12 years ago

Playing this deck at the FNM tomorrow. Hope things go better than the last time. Still will have a problem with mid-range, but with all the experience that I got over the last week, I think I'll play much better. I think that I have a much more evolved deck than I had last time and that my understanding of the game-space has increased. We'll see. I need to get 2 more Annihilating Fires for the deck though.

Tweaking

ang3lfir3, 12 years ago

made a few changes to see if I can get some improvements. The original build was slow on the land drops from time to time and it will cost you too much to miss them.

changes:
-1 Plains -1 Island
+3 Azorius Guildgate (not generally a fan but here the color fixing is worth the wait)

-3 Terminus (they were often clogging what could have otherwise been a better hand)
+2 Feeling of Dread (the lower cost here and multi purpose nature makes them seem like interesting tech)

Considerations:
considering: +1 Sphinx's Revelation +1 Supreme Verdict -2 Essence Scatter
considering going all in on Thought Scour over Think Twice however I think with the pace here the Think Twice is still better.

The side board is also in need of some tuning. It feel very piece meal at this point and needs some more strategy.

Dropped 2x Ghostform & 1x Artful Dodge, added 2x Blustersquall & 1x Thragtusk as allows more attacks through and provides a defensive alternative.

Ghostly Prison + Multiplayer?

Reverend, 12 years ago

I added Ghostly Prison to the Sideboard instead of negate. People hate counter decks and exiles, they will focus me. So I've added the Ghostly Prison for defense.

toxonic, 12 years ago

My local store is holding a GP trial event this Sunday. I'm trying to get my deck to be on par with the decks that will be there. I've only been playing since march and there will be people who've been playing for many years. Any suggestions to make this deck more "pro" would be more than welcome.

found myself getting mana swamped so i took out 2x Swamp and instead put in 2x Appetite for Brains that way i can get rid of counters from their hand or oblivion rings or even a Detention Sphere

Update 5

jan2692wal, 12 years ago

So i just discovered Bitter Ordeal and I'm in love. I swapped out the sideboarded Disciple of the Vault and Silence for two copies of it. I plan on playing this in a modern tournament on December 29th, this is my first Modern tournament, so I'm not really sure what to expect, but I'm excited, and i think i have a good chance at winning since alot of people at my LGS don't really know what and eggs deck does.

These are the decks that played in the last tournament, and I'm expecting to see more of the same:

1 uw angels 1 lingering Jund 1 GW hate Bear 1 Merfolk 1 ur storm 1 mono red 2 Four Gifts Control

I don't really know what many of these decks do, how they are played, or what they have that can potentially have a negative impact on my deck (other than storm, been there, beat that), so anyone with any knowledge of these decks or just modern in general please give me suggestions!! thanks!

Huntin' Dem Fiends

Pyrocumulus, 12 years ago

Moved Oblivion Ring to sideboard. Fiend Hunter and Detention Sphere seem to do the job quite adequately in most cases. I'll swap in O-Ring when I'm running against a deck with more noncreature permanents.

Initial Testing

Toddington, 12 years ago

Ha, it works! Rakdos Shred-Freak and Civic Saber is a combo!

Considering moving Traitorous Instinct to board, and having more Sabers and Racecourse Fury. In fact, I want a playset of Sabers, and to swap Gore-House Chainwalker for Frostburn Weird.

Matchup update

Christen, 12 years ago

Last night this deck went 2-2 (which could easily have been a 3-1 due to a slight overextension on my part). Matchups last night were: Jund Midrange 2-1 Mono-Red Sligh 2-0 GW Aggro 1-2 UWr Flash 0-2 You will need to aggressively mulligan in UWr flash if you want to beat it. The deck durdles for a long time until it stabilizes. If you have burn, you have to try and burn the dome. Once it casts Sphinx and you get to the middle game, you are on an uphill battle. The red splash is particularly effective for them since they have Staticasters and Pillars for your Wolves. Hound of Griselbrand is a top-performer, while the Maws didn't really affect my matchups significantly. Because of this, modifications to the deck would be: +3 MD, -3 SB Hound of Griselbrand -2 MD, +2 SB Thundermaw Helkite -1 MD, +2 SB Stonewright -1 SB Thunderbolt I'm still thinking of putting in Flames of the Firebrand, but the slots are tight. Archwing Dragon is there for Bant matchups and it's a top performer for that deck. 4 Mizzium Mortars is important in a field of midrange creatures and significantly increases our GW matchups. I might end up cuting the singleton Thunderbolt and 1 more Stonewright, but 2 Flames is probably not enough. Traitorous Blood is for the reanimator decks should they resolve a creature and rogue decks like Seance. Thundermaw covers our midrange matchups as well as spirit tokens.l

Took the deck out to another local tourney tonight and only got another mediocre 2-2. I will say however only one of them was a complete shut out, the other loss was due to one game having not enough mana and then in the second round getting mana flooded, such is my life. The good news is the deck was winning the game by turn 7 at the latest, which is what it was designed to do. These wins were either through the Hulk combo, Wolfir double team or burn mixed with Hellkites so my win conditions are coming up and being used effectively. Only thing that was a notable problem for me was my lack to spell evasion for my creatures. they would get shut down by Selesnya Charms and O-Rings from time to time but hopefully the leaked Simic charm is real so I can expand into RUG and have some nice counters for those occasions.

Changed deck a little...

thegamemaster1234, 12 years ago

I've added in a couple Tumble Magnets for my Gilder Bairns to play with, as well as a Primordial Hydra for more Bairning shenanigans.

Also added two more Aquastrand Spiders to the sideboard, just in case I might need more protection from fliers.
