Mono Death and Taxes how i love it! - all Hail to Finn!
This is my recent list:
Pre Origins i played 4x Karakas, 3x Flagstones of Trokair and a one-of Mangara of Corondor, Aven Mindcensor, Spirit of the Labyrinth and
Mirran Crusader
.
With the new toy Vryn Wingmare i try to abuse the taxing effect combined with the mana denial. 2x or more "Thalia" on the board feels absurd. With a Port or Wasteland/Dust Bowl its GG!
I really like the new set up!
Aven Mindcensor is a nice card but often to slow. He is good against three color lists with a bunch of fetches or tutors like Entomb or Intuition. With Wingmare i let them get the land and tax or waste them. This feels less random.
I also gave the Spirit of the Labyrinth a try. I never got the chance to vial one into play in response of an Brainstorm. Some ppl told me its backbreaking. It fells like the Spirit is only slowing down your opponent. With an Revoker in play the Spirit is a nice target for a Wear//Tear. In the Miracles MU this happens quiet often and is annoying. So maybe SB!
Mangara of Corondor is my all time favorite. It is a nice feeling to win a game when your opponent has no permanent in play. In the current meta he is too slow for me. He was the reason why i played 4x Karakas in my MD.
Last but not least i had to cut the
Mirran Crusader
. If he connects with equippent he is a two turn clock. There is no space for a 9th three drop. With the playset of flagstones you dont get often more then 6 lands in play. I will never play less then 4x Flickerwisp. So he had to go.
I think with the new changes the deck is more an aggro deck with the maximum of possible mana denial. Against creature heavy decks i board out the Wingmare and let the Stoneforge Mystic get the job done.
