Bringer of the Black Dawn

Creature — Bringer

You may pay (White)(Blue)(Black)(Red)(Green) rather than pay Bringer of the Black Dawn's mana cost.

At the beginning of your upkeep, you may pay 2 life. If you do, search your library for a card, then shuffle your library and put that card on top of it.

Bringer of the Black Dawn Discussion

fragarach97 No he doesn’t, but I think he runs a lot of typical multicolour spells and lots of the 3-colour charms for Ramos and then uses mana produced by Ramos to dump into big spells. I’ve seen him use Conflux to tutor then immediately get 10 mana from Ramos, and he runs a couple of the Bringer creatures. I think Bringer of the Blue Dawn and Bringer of the Black Dawn. Maybe the red one at one point but not anymore.

Please link all cards in your question using double brackets.

Morophon, the Boundless

Bringer of the Black Dawn

The Bringers have an alternate cost to cast them of WUBRG. Morophon's ability is a cost reduction, it doesn't prevent you from paying any alternate or additional costs. You can opt to pay the alternate cost and then have it reduced to 0.

601.2f The player determines the total cost of the spell. Usually this is just the mana cost. Some spells have additional or alternative costs. Some effects may increase or reduce the cost to pay, or may provide other alternative costs. Costs may include paying mana, tapping permanents, sacrificing permanents, discarding cards, and so on. The total cost is the mana cost or alternative cost (as determined in rule 601.2b), plus all additional costs and cost increases, and minus all cost reductions. If multiple cost reductions apply, the player may apply them in any order. If the mana component of the total cost is reduced to nothing by cost reduction effects, it is considered to be {0}. It can’t be reduced to less than {0}. Once the total cost is determined, any effects that directly affect the total cost are applied. Then the resulting total cost becomes “locked in.” If effects would change the total cost after this time, they have no effect.

You could swap out some of the conunterspells you are currently using like swapping out Cancel for maybe Delay or Arcane Denial so you don’t have the double blue cost.

I am also a fan of a few of the Bringer creatures that can put in some real work for these big WUBRG decks. Bringer of the Black Dawn will pretty much let you tutor each turn and pick what you draw if he can stay alive and Bringer of the Blue Dawn will get you some additional card draw for staying alive.

If you follow CEDH it is rare for a game to end in just normal dmg and it's common for combos to bring about the win, like for instance imprinting Isochron Scepter with Dramatic Reversal and generating infinite mana with my mana dorks and mana rocks then activating my Tasigur, the Golden Fang until all my deck is either in my graveyard or in my hand then using Sadistic Sacrament and tasigur's ability to exile my opponent's libraries. then pass turn.

but in terms of silly wins I once kicked a Rite of Replication on an opponent's Bringer of the Black Dawn then using all those tutor triggers I stacked my deck to build a complete lockout of the game while the army of 5/5s beat down.

What I like about Jodah is that I also have a Jodah deck -- Jodah Has a Few Tricks Up His Sleeve -- that I think is kickass, but using the compare decks feature I see that there's a difference of ~55 cards. It's sweet that he facilitates such a wide variety of decks -- there's no single best way to build it. I run a much lower CMC list, there are some differences simply because I don't have the cards ( Avacyn, Angel of Hope , Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite , Emrakul, the Promised End , Ulamog, the Ceaseless Hunger ), and I see why you wouldn't want to play Omniscience and Show and Tell .

Anyways, here's a handful of the cards that I run and you don't that I've had good results with:

Really cool deck! Just an FYI, Bringer of the Black Dawn isn't legal in your deck. Even though the color of that spell is black, the color identity (which includes all mana symbols on the card) is WUBRG. Commander cares about color identity, so Bringer of the Black Dawn is only allowed in a 5-color deck.

Other than that, it seems like a fun deck to play!

Another option you have, if you are trying to put a specific creature on top of your library for Guild Feud is a tutor that puts cards on top of your library. Ideally, you will want a tutor that can be cast at instant speed, so you can cast it after your untap step, but before Guild Feud's ability resolves. Currently, there is only one modern-legal instant-speed tutor that allows you to fetch any creature and put it on top of your library--Congregation at Dawn.

In the alternative, you will want another permanent that tutors at the beginning of your upkeep. Unfortunately, the only modern-legal option on this front is Bringer of the Black Dawn, meaning you would have yet another difficult casting cost to muster.

The strongest bringers in general are probably Bringer of the Black Dawn and Bringer of the Blue Dawn.

Bringer of the Red Dawn and Bringer of the White Dawn are very strong in the right situation.

Bringer of the Green Dawn is fine. I guess...

They are upkeep triggers though so reanimating at sorc speed means they have to stick a whole turn. So while I like them I don't know if you want them for this.
