A bird deck? Without Storm Crow? Outrageous. Blasphemy. Perfidious.

Allow the birbs to enlighten you.

Step One: Power and Glory

Aven Brigadier. Look straight into its eyes and see the fate that shall beset your foes. This is power. This is glory.

Step Two: True beauty

Swords to Plowshares. But get out of here with that squalid artwork. Ice Age gives us this beauty.

Step Three: Invoking fear

Aerial Assault. This is when you start playing Alfred Hitchcock's greatest film in the background. This instills fear.

Step Four: Round it all out

We have power, glory, beauty, fear, and an instant-win button. What is next? That is correct. Bird seeds. This is why I hired Soraya to disseminate them. She even gives opponents headaches with her activated ability.

Step Five: The purge

We need to empty out all of these bad cards from the list to make room for the mountain of birds coming in. Nexus of Fate is unplayable, Sensei's Top is questionable, and Sol Ring is useless. Try Aven Warhawk, Dragonstalker, and Carrier Pigeons. These are startlingly efficient flyers that almost do something sometimes.

Step Six: Commander falsehoods

Ramp never gets you anywhere. It adds no power to the board, cards to the hand, or birds to the game. The only two acceptable mana rocks are Seashell Cameo and Azorius Keyrune. They leastwise mention birds.

Step Seven: Cat birds

You must have both Skycat Sovereign and Pride of the Clouds. This is crucial. Cats are birbs, too.

Step Eight: Question my sanity

If you glue feathers to something, it is basically a bird. Why don't people know that Ragavan is a bird?! Heathens.

Step Nine: Profit maybe

Cast your Mimeomancers and Suntail Hawks, and cobble them together with a Keeper of the Nine Gales. May your feathery flight bring the greatest adventure, nevermore.

Step Ten: Good bye

Good bye.

Oh man, I just saw the art for Aven Brigadier . Such a winner! And Commander Eesha is incredible! Crookclaw Elder and Gustcloak Savior are sweet value too. Bird Tribal has some fun value.

In terms of mana, some other ideas are Dreamscape Artist .... he alllllmost counts as a bird? Technically he does, he's a shapeshifter, but maybe not a flavour win, haha. Probably not good enough. Also, I'd say Paradise Mantle which has a flavour win as it's off the Birds of Paradise idea and, even if only in imagery, gives "wings" (see picture) ;). I was going to recommend Dream Thrush over a signet if you had one, for fixing mana on theme, but you don't have one.

I really like Opt , Brainstorm , and Ponder in my blue decks cause they help me make sure I hit my landrops, or later on get me the cards I need (or skip the cards I don't need). In this awesome bird theme your building up, I think Augury Owl is a great way to fill that niche. Brilliant, in my own mind :). Aven Fateshaper does that too, but he's a little more pricey... except, when he comes out he can keep doing it for ! Awesome.

If you ever find that infinite combo, Apex Hawks might be good in here!

Cloudchaser Eagle is almost like bird tribals very own Acidic Slime ... note quite, but almost. I see you got Kestrel in there, his cheaper counter part (though I guess classified "equal" as kestrel requires two vs. the extra for eagle.

If your playgroup combos off, goes Voltron, or has some crazy creatures that end games, Aven Augur seems like cool utility. If you playgroup is just "good times" though, I do think you should put in Carnivorous Death-Parrot for fun or Cardpecker ;). My playgroup allows 1 unhinged type card, unless it's absolutely broken.

It's too bad Aven Warhawk is so pricey, or else his effect would be great!

This would be fun to play, I can tell. Nice work! So cool to see a tribe with such a tool box.

Thank you for all the suggestions!

I have added Commander Eesha and Wingmate Roc

I started off this deck years ago running Aven Warhawk and never got him to work right. Whenever I get to turn 5 I never have enough birds in hand to make it worth playing.

I looked at your list and I came up with the following suggestions you might want to consider:

If you need more help on this deck or any other Commnader project, then give me a headsup on my wall :) Just click my name and post something on there.

It is always great to recieve an upvote on my favourite deck, which you can see here. Just click the 'Upvote' button on the left if you like what you see. It is always a great thing to recieve.

Enjoy the game!

Interesting concept, jchapsman.

Is this something you play among your friends or a deck building challenge?

Aven Warhawk seems like it would be a decent addition, but that 'anthropomorphized' stipulation kind of nixes that.

Any reason to not just run another Judge's Familiar over Suntail Hawk. Seems like it's better on all accounts. Impaler Shrike could give you some late game draw if you need, and Mindshrieker could give you another threat/win con.

Just some ideas. What do you think?

Just a quick one off the top of my head, some older cards have unique versions of +1/+1 counters that either give +1/+0 or +0/+1. Dwarven Armorer does both but there's also things like Coral Reef.

Amplify, which appears only in one set IIRC. Aven Warhawk. Basically just gives it bonus counters when it enters for each creature that shares a type.
