A basic Elf tripe deck for Pauper and Paper Pauper.

The core of this deck are:

Elvish Mystic , Fyndhorn Elves , Llanowar Elves , Quirion Ranger , Birchlore Rangers , Nettle Sentinel , Priest of Titania , Timberwatch Elf , Lys Alana Huntmaster , Wellwisher , Lead the Stampede .

Some explanation and clarification about the core cards:

Elvish Mystic , Fyndhorn Elves , Llanowar Elves : Practically the same creature, but we use different versions to protect us as much as possible against cards such as Echoing Truth .

Elvish Mystic , Fyndhorn Elves , Llanowar Elves , Quirion Ranger : These creatures allows us to generate two mana on turn two with just one land, usually to cast Priest of Titania to go big on turn three.

Birchlore Rangers : You can tap creatures that still have summoning sickness, e.g. the tokens created by Lys Alana Huntmaster . With a single Nettle Sentinel or Lys Alana Huntmaster on the battefield you can play as many 1-mana creatures as you want.

Nettle Sentinel : Note that the green spell does not have to resolve for Nettle Sentinel to untap. Great in combination with Birchlore Rangers or Viridian Longbow .

Lys Alana Huntmaster : As above, the spell does not have to resolve for Lys Alana Huntmaster to create a token.

Quirion Ranger : The main use for her ability is to be able to use the tap ability of another creature twice each turn. Note that you can use this ability as soon as the creature is on the battlefield, it is not affected by summoning sickness. Also note that you can use it once on your turn and also once at your opponent's turn.

Lead the Stampede : Gives us up to five creatures for three mana. As mana is hardly a concern for this deck it is preferred over Winding Way .

Explanations why I chose the other main deck cards:

At our Pauper events most people do not follow the meta game at MTGO, so out-of-date decks and homebrewed decks are common. Therefor, this decks aims to be able to react to many different kinds of threats without spreading itself too thin.

Essence Warden : Helps us to survive the onslaught of very aggressive decks where Wellwisher would be too slow until they run out of steam. Important: It also triggers for your opponent's creatures.

Sylvan Ranger : Tutors our lone Island, and can shuffle our library when Lead the Stampede put important cards at the bottom.

Distant Melody : As we have some very strong non-creature cards in our deck Lead the Stampede alone does not cut it. Keep in mind that you can also choose "Warrior" or "Druid" if you do not want to draw as many cards as you have elves on the board.

Spidersilk Armor : Protects our 1/1s from board wipes such as Electrickery , and allows us to block the flyers from decks such as Delver and Boros. A lot of value for just a single card. I used to run only one card in my main deck, but as more and more people used board wipes in their main deck I started to run two of them in my main deck.

Viridian Longbow : Extremely versatile equipment. It can be used to get around fog effects such as Moment's Peace , and snipe important opponent's creatures such as Priest of Titania . Note that you can pay 3 mana to equip it to an untapped creature and use it again, gunning down multiple opponent's creatures or one big one.

Explanations why I choosed my side deck cards:

Gleeful Sabotage : Can be used against both enchantments and artifacts, and destroys up to two at once. Just the kind of flexibility I want.

Gruesome Fate : As it targets only players it cannot be stopped by a Standard Bearer , and as it causes to other player to lose life it cannot be stopped by cards such as Prismatic Strands . Unlike Harsh Sustenance and other alternatives for this slot it is only sorcery speed, though.

Luminescent Rain : Helpful against very aggressive decks, though not must-haves. If you want to use other side deck cards this is one of the first cards you should drop.

Moment's Peace : Needed against Inside Out and Kiln Fiend decks as they have ways to get around our many creatures.

Relic of Progenitus : Very useful against any deck that runs Gurmag Angler or Ghostly Flicker .

Scattershot Archer : Very useful against Delver decks, and semi-useful against Boros decks with flyers.

Wrap in Vigor : Unlike Spidersilk Armor , this card can also protect our creatures against destroy effects and stronger board wipes such as Swirling Sandstorm .
