If you decide to build a sideboard for this I would suggest Flaring Pain

Dope. I think you should play Flaring Pain in the sideboard just in case anyone decides to board in Moment's Peace or Spore Frog against you.

Correct. If you either revealed the dragon as part of the casting cost, or controlled a dragon at the time of casting, it will both deal 3 damage to target creature and 3 to that creature's controller. You are also correct that the damage to the player is not targeted, so you will still do damage to a player who has hexproof or shroud.

However, it will not get around protection, since protection also prevents damage in addition to preventing targeting. For this to get around protection on the player, you will also need something like Flaring Pain to avoid the damage prevention portion of protection.

Axorian Thanks for the comment! Sorry that my list doesn't work online, I created it intending to take it to my local game store for events and casual games. I'm currently brewing a variant that includes blue, since it fixes issues like running out of cards in hand and outplaying tempo. That build likely won't include Red Elemental Blast , so that might be more to your tastes.

The main reason why I don't run Journey to Nowhere is because it doesn't usually deal with what this deck struggles against. It's typically a pretty safe bet that whatever creature this deck has in play will win in combat against any blocker the help of one or two combat tricks, and since combat tricks and creatures are also our win condition, I prioritized them over disrupting our opponent (who is likely playing on the defensive). I'm currently brewing a variant that includes blue, since it fixes issues like running out of cards in hand and outplaying tempo. As for the purpose for the cards in the sideboard:

Bojuka Bog : With Crop Rotation this one card screws with graveyard decks a lot.

Flaring Pain : A way to bypass fog effects, which often beat this deck.

Mountain : Fixes our mana base to fit better with our red sideboard cards.

Oblivion Ring : Usually isn't used, but helps deal with unwelcome surprises if we're desperate.

Pyroblast / Red Elemental Blast : Blue spells disaster for this deck. Not even considering counterspells, even tempo cards like Unsummon can devastate us. This also kills Delver of Secrets  Flip, which is a nice bonus.

Vitality Charm : Helps the deck bypass large groups of small creatures with trample. Against suffocating control decks, it can also be a creature to pick up Adventuring Gear and be a backup win condition.

I'm really missing Land Grant in this; especially with Lead the Stampede present, you really want every bit of land-thinning you can get. Also, I'm thinking Renegade Freighters would make more effiecient colorless tramplers than the Devastator.

As for the sideboard, Naturalize is a pretty lame choice. Go for Gleeful Sabotage instead, or Sundering Growth, if you want to stay at instant-speed. Tangle seems like a worse choice than Moment's Peace; two consecutive turns of no attacks is not as good as any two turns. And Spidersilk Armor is probably a better fit for flyer-hate than Vines & Scattershot, because it also softens enemy boardwipes like Shrivel, Electrickery or Holy Light. Also, there should you should hand 1 sideboard slot to Flaring Pain as a little surprise for tome/fog builds.

I'm definitely willing to hear you out on that. I wanted some sort of artifact recursion going on, especially for Jester's Cap but I also do feel that there is a better way for recurring exile and I'm just not aware of it yet.

I was already considering sidelining Malignus for something else like Flaring Pain if I even wanted to leave in something specifically to deal with protection. In my groups protection is a pretty big thing and Malignus pulled through a few times.

Sandwurm Convergence I left in because it generates tokens while protecting me from flying.

If my opponent play's a Fog and after that i cast a Flaring Pain. What if after that he would play another Fog ?

As far as i read it, Flaring Pain's Effect will always make damage happen, regardless if there was a fog before or after it. Is this correct?

I like the Izzet Blitz decks a lot. This is a good list if you are wanting to be competitive at your LGS. I would go -1 Artful Dodge and -1 Mutagenic Growth for +2 Gush. Gush can be a huge play on your combo turn. Tap 2 Islands then return them both to play Gush, replay Island, cantrip and Apostle's Blessing your way to a victory. I feel it is a necessity in these lists. Also, Temur Battle Rage is a must. Maybe go -2 Brainstorm for them and try it that way. As for the SB, mine would look something like:

2xPyroblast (Burn, RDW, mirror match, etc.), 3xHydroblast (Delver matchups primarily but also works well in the mirror), 2xElectrickery (Various token strategies and Elves), 2xFlaring Pain, 1xStormbound Geist, 1xRelic of Progenitus, 2xFlame Slash, 2xDispel

But it depends on the meta at your LGS. If you get a good idea what you are up against and want more specific help with your SB let us know! Hope that helps. Check out my Token Deck
