Minor Update - Comments Reset —Jan. 15, 2015
I went back and reevaluated a few card choices, cutting cards that were under-performing for cards I think will be more powerful.
Changes include: Farseek -> Saffi Eriksdotter Stonehorn Dignitary -> Spike Weaver Rite of Replication -> Restoration Angel Conjurer's Closet -> Thragtusk Soul of the Harvest -> Garruk, Caller of Beasts Deadwood Treefolk -> Bane of Progress

I actually really like the card. In fact, I think I suggested it on your Phyrexia-themed build. It's better in my meta than Luminate Primordial because one of my main opponents runs Animar, Soul of Elements . I did recently obtain a foil Ingester, the problem is finding a spot for it since Duplicant does pretty much the same thing for one mana less.

I knew I got that suggestion from somewhere. lol.
How has Nephalia Smuggler
played?

MindAblaze!, Nephalia Smuggler is actually surprisingly good. He lets me blink something the turn before Roon comes out, he can save Roon, and the fact that the targeted creature instantly returns is actually very relevant. This makes it easier to break up combos with him than with Roon, as you get the effect you need immediately.

That's a good point. I find Venser, Shaper Savant and Mystic Snake aren't as good as they could be because Roon can't bring them back right now to counter stuff. I rely on Mimic Vat after they've died for that.

@MindAblaze!I used to run Mimic Vat but cut it for Loaming Shaman because graveyard hate is particularly good in my meta. I should probably put it back in, though, as it's a powerful card. I'll find a spot.

Yes, and it is one of the best cards in the deck. Roon absolutely breaks it, the same way he breaks Gilded Drake . You can soft lock your opponents if you're feeling mean, and it can be an insanely fun card if you decide not to flicker it.

Oh right, because it comes back under it's owner's control.

Ever thought about Peregrine Drake ? I'm testing a similar deck against friends and that bad boy has been a mvp with just Deadeye Navigator

@mtgirem If you'll notice, I state in the description that I've opted not to play infinite combos in this deck. If I did, I'd run Palinchron over Peregrine Drake anyway. Thank you for your input, though!

I'm surprised not to see Brago, King Eternal on this list. More blinking madness!

Apologies for not reading properly. I'm a new player who has a similar deck myself in progress.
Question: for a 4 cmc slot I'm debating between Gulf Squid and Stonehorn Dignitary . I really like that Gulf Squid is a reusable Mana Short but most blink effects are end of turn so I'm not sure how good he would be. Should I just opt for the Stonehorn Dignitary for less situational lockdown purposes?

I don't understand why Gilded Drake is used in blink decks... Can you explain why? Other than that great deck and +1

@TheGamer Sure thing! People run Gilded Drake because of its interaction with blink effects like Roon of the Hidden Realm , Venser, the Sojourner , and Mistmeadow Witch , which return the target creature to the battlefield under its owner's control. This is effective because when the Drake comes into play, you exchange it with an opponent's creature. When you blink the Drake out, it comes back under your control and you get to exchange for something different. You can do this every turn and eventually steal your opponent's entire board. Does that make sense?

Also, if you say +1 please be sure to actually upvote the deck! Thanks.

O... Ok, that makes sense.
About the +1 thing, I must of previously upvoted the deck because when I click it the score doesn't change. Sorry about that.

In EDH I'd run things like Skyshroud Claim , Explosive Vegetation , and Hunting Wilds over Rampant Growth or Farseek , since they give you more lands with one card.
You could also consider Slithermuse to refill your hand if you feel like you aren't drawing enough cards.

Thanks for the suggestions, but I prefer Farseek and Rampant Growth over the 4-cost spells because they ramp me up to Roon (4-cost spells don't help cast Roon early), and because my recur-able creature ramp starts at CMC 3 and goes up from there.
Slithermuse is a good suggestion, and I used to run it, but I feel like I draw plenty of cards in this deck, so it's not really an issue. Thanks for your input!

I really love your deck, I've been playing around with it a bit and it's a load of fun. Something that I thought would be really hilarious is to throw in Trostani, Voice of Selesnya and Phyrexian Processor . You can easily search up Trostani with Green Sun's Zenith . Plus, her ability really fits the whole ETB theme anyway. Phyrexian Processor can be gotten as well with Wargate . I just think the whole combo would make for some pretty insane times. Just a suggestion! +1 from me.

@Gork_Mork If I were to add Trostani, Selesnya's Voice what would you suggest I cut? I feel like the decklist is pretty tight right now, it's hard to find space for new cards. As for Phyrexian Processor it's very cool idea, but without a Trostani out it's way too risky!
August 17, 2014 12:12 a.m.
I'd say cut either Mulldrifter or Nevermaker but yeah, I wouldn't go for the Phyrexian Processor unless you had Trostani

You may also want to consider playing Strionic Resonator because you can do some fun things with it. If you were to add Brago, King Eternal and say Gilded Lotus you can have unlimited mana. and lets say you have Venser, Shaper Savant in play then you can bounce everything back to everyone's hand.
so the way this works is attack with Brago, King Eternal copy brago's ability with Strionic Resonator let the copy resolve then bounce resonator, a mana rock or 2 that can tap for mana plus anything else you want to bounce say Venser, Shaper Savant after everything comes back in you can do it again before the original ability comes into play.

What are your thoughts on Mangara of Corondor ? I've been recently looking at Death and Taxes lists, and MoC with flicker effects seems to be pretty oppressive. Better when you can AEther Vial Mangara back in, but still pretty strong with a good suite of flicker.

What are your thoughts on Phyrexian Ingester ?
