I made this whole deck https://tappedout.net/mtg-decks/grixis-sacrifice-in-pioneer/, and this deck here is a continuation of the FNM effort. You can see my original plan, as explained, is to dodge Fatal Push and Bloodtithe Harvester. However...
This is an attempt to have a deck with enough main board counter-spells to beat Lotus Bloom. Its apparently prevalent at my FNM and the Rakdos midrange is not. I'm going to start with the same 25 land mana base as the Sacrifice deck, (plus one Sulfur Falls) so I can save on lands. Mainboarding Swan Song is the plan.
The mana base has 26 total lands, 19 blue sources, 18 black and 18 red. Need the early blue sooner for Silumgar's Scorn and the loss of an opportunity to cast counterspells or a Dig Through Time (which is a way to flip a Smoldering Egg
in one cast,) is worse than the situation of waiting a few turns to hit a double red source. Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
loves to see things in the graveyard. We can get cards in the graveyard with him and also Izzet Charm or Maestros Charm.
Being able to flip Jace, Vryn's Prodigy
on turn 3 if we draw him along with a Maestros Charm is one of the best draws we can get.
The other one is turn 2 Smoldering Egg
, turn 3 Maestros Charm, and turn 4 Dig Through Time.
Third play that seems amazing is Manaform Hellkite making an 8/8 dragon token because of Dig Through Time. Pretty cool interaction there.
---April 2nd Update---
Had to fix the mana base somehow so I eliminated the need for double black in the mana base. Going out of the mono-dragon theme allowed me to get into Lofty Denial instead of Silumgar's Scorn and pick up Ledger Shredder. Still going for the Manaform Hellkite + Dig Through Time combo.
