added Tremor to sideboard to combat an Empty the Warrens deck that I ran up against that smoked me, preferably use Abjure to counter any kind of haste that might come out after the Empty the Warrens resolves, then next turn pop a Tremor and hope it doesn't get countered

Aggro white decks (excluding GW tokens), i.e. Tempered steel (u/w and r/w) and u/w humans where still giving me problems. I decided to take a hint from SCG grixis decks and add in Whipflare and Curse of Death's Hold, I also thought I'd try Shimmering Grotto to keep consistency up, I hate when I need that 2nd blue or red and do not get it, I will add in another Whipflare when I get one. So far the total record on the deck is 9-1-4. the four losses to U/W humans twice, a wolf run (got lucky as heck draws against me even though I should have won), and a U/W tempered douche deck. Plays well against all other decks, never had too many problems. It locks down delver decks, blows wolf run out of the water if I can at least get a counter spell or two, handles well against other control decks, and RDW does not stand a chance. I hope to further improve the deck, as well, I hope these new mods will handle its' bad match ups (again white aggro).

Added Lich Lord of Unx and Mind Funeral at the suggestion of some helpful users. Also added Trepanation Blade for its milling potential.

Added some Geth's verdicts and Mana Leak for some disruption. Gets my creatures through easier. Put in 4x Gravecrawler obviously. Moved Unbreathing Horde and Armored Skaab to the sideboard.
keelsc, 13 years ago
Swapped 2x Vampire Interloper, 3x Markov Patrician, 4x Typhoid Rat out. Put in 2x Sorin Markov, 4x Stromkirk Noble, 3x Curse of Stalked Prey and added 2x Olivia Voldaren
Total rebuild

So I took a turn and deceided to drop some creatures for more removal. Surgical Extraction is beautiful with all the removal in this deck. Sever the Bloodline and Blasphemous Act KILL against any token deck. I'm thinking of having two versions of this deck. One more creature heavy and this version. I feel like Heartless Summoning and a heavy large creature base would kill in this deck. I want two more Bloodlines Keeper in both decks. They are my saving grace in plenty of games and having the flip of Bloodline Keeper Flip and a Vampiric Fury… Goosebumps.

So I dropped Mask of Avacyn Curiosity Lumberknot and a Forest. I then added Silver-Inlaid Dagger Fiend Hunter and a Mentor of the Meek. I feel that there could be something better then a Mentor of the Meek and even Cloistered Youth Flip

Getting Rid of the Nonsense

Okay, so the cute defensive subtheme of the deck is gone. It was full of cards that just didn't advance my position and didn't advance the game, which is the kind of play I was specifically trying to discourage when I built the deck in the first place. Now it's back to the core principle of the deck: getting in there and throwing elbows, and pulling everyone in with me. If you want to be entertained by a more in-depth explanation of what went on, I wrote an article about it on the blog for the weekly casual podcast I participate in.
Final Product?

Many many suggestions and I have fine tuned the deck to this. Still a bit of tweaking and testing Skirsdag Flayer looks like a good fit for this but Im not sure about that over GFTT. Otherwise a hopefully competitive deck has been born.
should I ???

With Dark Ascension spoilers decided UGr would be best for the deck, because Huntmaster of the Fells Flip is a power house.
Awaiting rest of the spoilers though, hoping for some good UG spells..

Major overhauls after looking around at another deck(credit:players-servants). Mostly mana acceleration changes and I moved Leyline of the Void to the still incomplete sideboard.

Got my Consecrated Sphinx and the Undead Alchemist. Changed the sideboard a lot to include a bunch of flexible creatures such as the Phyrexian Metamorph and the 2 Phantasmal Image in case I come up against a creature I don't have an answer to (like Thrun, the Last Troll). With a good draw it's very realistic to expect a turn 7 win. Not super fast, but a pretty good pace, especially for blue-black.

I played this deck again with more cards still missing alot of the cards that this deck will have in it. But it is alot more effective. I am finding this deck lacks creatures and think I need to add more board wipes. First game I played was against my other commander deck. This game last 2 hours before I finally lost.

Please let me know if you think this deck is a viable option in Standard. Thanks!
Deck Update
Solomon, 13 years ago
Hello Everyone!
Click here to jump to this week's discussion.
Thank you so very much for your wonderful suggestions! For this week's update, I carefully went through all of the comments posted under this topic as of Jan. 21, 2012.
I am very pleased with the advice given to me so far, offered early on in the development of this deck. Without further ado, I would like to explain the changes incorporated into the creation of the third revision.
Thank you mozerdozer and stonethorn for your amazing recommendation of Nameless Inversion! As soon as I spotted the card, I looked it up, and without hesitation, I decided to include it in this week's early update! Thank you also for your wonderful combo suggestion. I have decided to include my interpretation of the ingenious implementation under this week's Card of the Week section!
Thank you Epochalyptik for your wonderful recommendation of Dark Ritual! I had previously thought of using the mana-acceleration instant, but I wasn't reminded of the true usefulness of the card until you recommended it! I have decided to replace Blood Pet with two copies of Dark Ritual. Thank you again for your input!
I reconsidered switching out Noxious Ghoul for Skinrender, Moan of the Unhallowed, or Endless Ranks of the Undead, but decided against it when I realized there remained only six other sources of removal in the deck (from eight in the first revision). Taking out Noxious Ghoul would render my main form of late-game removal extinct. Thus, I have decided to leave the creature in the deck's third revision.
Following this post are my comments for this week's Card of the Week. Again, thanks for all of the thoughtful comments! I thank you for all of your valuable suggestions. As I am still relatively new to Magic the Gathering, I would indeed greatly appreciate any suggestions and/or constructive criticism that you may have to offer.
Nameless Inversion:
One of the more powerful tribal instants of Lorwyn, this card was only recently brought to my attention by your wonderful suggestions. Thanks for the great recommendation, mozerdozer and stonethorn! Thus, with the update this week comes my interpretation of this incredible two-drop. My choice of this week is Nameless Inversion.
With its +3/-3 ability, the instant replaces one copy of Victim of Night, in accordance with Epochalyptik's helpful suggestion of implementing 'Toughness Modifier' removal in place of 'Destroy' spells. The deck implements one copy of Nameless Inversion, and one copy is all you need!
This ingenious combo came to my knowledge as a result of your valuable advice and recommendations. With Lord of the Undead or Unholy Grotto in play, you can make use of the terrifying removal tool again and again! Not much else can prove more annoying than this combination of effects; as you repeatedly exploit this instrument of destruction, you'll be giving your opponent a psychological beating.
To conclude briefly, the comments recommending Nameless Inversion have been dead on. As a new introduction to the deck, let's give this two-drop a warm welcome!
