Let me start off with. I love the deck, but reading this deck list, this isn't a bracket 1 deck list. This deck would stomp Edgar Markov precon into the ground and that's a deck is listed in bracket 3.

trippy_mcfly on Cumly Cube

Introducing Cumly Cube 1.3! Two years ago, Cumly Cube was updated to Cumly Cube 1.2, creating a balanced cube and wonderful play experience for all involved. Despite these changes, there remained some minor flaws in the card pool. I am now pleased to announce that, after extensive research and design, Cumly Cube has reached a final form. No card is too powerful. No card is too weak. Synergy is abundant. Both the draft and play experiences are dynamic, exciting, and new. There will be no more major updates to Cumly Cube 1.

120 cards have been removed, and 120 cards have been added. Here are the changes, provided with brief justifications:

zelous666 thank you for checking out my deck list and giving a suggestion. So Rooftop Storm has been a card I love and have been wanting to put in a deck for a while. Unfortunately with how the deck is built I wasn't getting enough value off of it consistently to keep it in the deck. It also cost a lot of mana to cast and at that point I want to be drawing a ton of cards to hopefully close out the game. I really appreciate your suggestion and the comment.

SaberTech on Zaxara, Exemplify Winning

Blue Sun's Zenith has performed well for me in my list. I use it as a secondary win condition if Thassa's Oracle isn't an option for some reason. You can draw your deck with the Zenith and then it puts itself back as the only card in your library. You can then cast something like Gretchen Titchwillow or Spectral Sailor to draw it again. Cast the Zenith targeting an opponent to deck them out, put it back into your library, draw it again with your creature, rinse and repeat until you win.

I gave up on running cards like Exsanguinate or Villainous Wealth because they weren't that useful in the first few turns, while X cost draw spells at least helped me get closer to my combo pieces. If I did get my combo then the X cost draw spells essentially win the game for me as well, it just takes a few more steps to finish the game.

I don't intend to come across as pointed or abrasive, but have you played against either Kinnan or Winota in extensive capacity, DemonDragonJ? I used to have both commanders in my main play group, and faced off against them on multiple occasions each. I run into them on occasion now.

Kinnan is 2 mana, and has built-in mana acceleration to more quickly achieve his own (powerful) activated ability, which to call back to one of your threads from earlier this week, is a "Do the Thing" type of design space. Kinnan is his own engine and payoff in one package. On top of all that, his Simic color identity grants access to efficient ramp in addition to his own ability, and counterspells. The times I've played against Kinnan, my opponents were typically dropping Eldrazi Titans or big curve toppers like Jin-Gitaxias, Core Augur or Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger.

Winota needs a bit more build intention with Humans to Non-Human ratios, but is still fairly powerful in terms of being able to dig for creatures. White has access to Stax-y Humans like Grand Abolisher and Drannith Magistrate, and also has tutors on bodies like Imperial Recruiter and Recruiter of the Guard to find additional answers. Beyond some of those efficient control and tutor effects on Human bodies that Winota can dig into, she can set up stax-y boards and break parity with her own ability. Throw Winota into the 99 for something like Isshin, Two Heavens as One and attack with a board of Non-Human creature tokens, and you can vomit up most if not all of the Humans in your deck. I'm speaking from recent experience on that last one lol.

Oko, Thief of Crowns could end up on the GC list, so definitely is more of a " not there for now".

DemonDragonJ on Commander/EDH Game Changers

I do not wish to sound ignorant, but how are Kinnan, Bonder Prodigy and Winota, Joiner of Forces worthy of being considered game changers? They certainly are powerful, but I do not think that they are nearly as oppressive as are Grand Arbiter Augustin IV or Urza, Lord High Artificerfoil, for example.

And how is Oko, Thief of Crowns not on this list? He is extremely powerful, and I believe that he most certainly can warp games if left unchecked.

Generic mana is not considered colorless so Glaring Fleshraker is just a creature with no abilities. Colorless mana can only be produced by tapping Wastes or creatures that can tap for colorless mana. You can look up the difference between colorless and generic mana.

Legendary Creature - Hydra Elemental

Flying, Trample

This creature enters with 6 Foresight counters on it. If this creature would be destroyed or exiled while it has 1 more Foresight counters, instead remove a Foresight counter from this creature.

Whenever this creature receives a counter, and whenever a counter is removed from this creature, each opponent draws a card.

As a disclaimer, I haven't built a deck around this commander, but used it in the 99 of a deck for a bit. For a kind of "atypical" Dragons option, you could do Dragonhawk, Fate's Tempest. Dragonhawk's ability cares about having creatures with power 4 or greater, which Dragons tend to have. Group slug and impulse draw in the command zone are nothing to scoff at, although you do have to build up and invest in your board to snowball with it.

I think besides all the dragons you'd want to run in a Dragonhawk deck, you'd also want to cram in as many of Red's haste anthems as possible to maximize your chances of your commander swinging the same turn it drops.

Hythrixa, the Exiled

Legendary Creature — Harpy

Flying, menace

When Hythrixa enters the battlefield, you may exile her and up to one target creature or planeswalker an opponent controls.

At the beginning of your upkeep, if Hythrixa is in exile, choose one —

  • Create two 1/1 blue Harpy creature tokens with flying. Each opponent loses life equal to the number of Harpies you control.

  • Return Hythrixa to the battlefield under your control.

I did a quick check on the Shalai card details on the off chance that it was registered as a card. Weirdly enough, someone registered her color identity as . I submitted a card fix to update the color identity to GW.

I've seen on a handful of other occasions where an EDH deck might have an off-color card in its 99, but the deck is still listed as legal. It's more likely than not some other bug on the back end.

I was wondering what you usually use Whir of Invention to tutor up? I can see Midnight Clock as an option but almost all your other artifacts are mana rocks. You could run a cheaper spell like Nature's Lore instead if you are mostly using the Whir for ramping, or maybe the slot could be Blue Sun's Zenith if you want the slot to still be an X cost spell.

If a cycling ability of another nonland card would cause you to draw a card, instead exile cards from the top of your library until you exile a card that shares a card type with the cycled card. DemonDragonJ on How Can Tutor Effects Remain …

In these two posts, Mark Rosewater stated that WotC is very careful about printing tutor effects, as such cards decrease variance in gameplay, and I understand his perspective, on that matter, but tutors have been a part of the game from its very beginning, so I believe that it would be wrong to stop printing them, and I would like to see tutors with creative effects that require the players to use them strategically, such as Beseech the Mirror or Grim Servant, both of which require proper deckbuilding to be used to their fullest potential.

What does everyone else say, about this subject? How can tutor effects remain interesting and not too powerful? I certainly am interested to hear your thoughts, on this matter.

For white control effects, you're spot on I'd say, with effects like Preacher or Debt of Loyalty.

Also, Olivia Voldaren is red in addition to black, and Threaten-effects are a mainstay there, it's Captivating Vampire that's the rare "flavor over color pie"-effect we're talking about.
