Treeshaker Chimera

Creature — Chimera

All creatures able to block this creature do so.

When this dies, draw three cards. (Is put into the graveyard from the battlefield.)

Her Royal Fluffness approves, very cool list!

Gigantosaurus, Nessian Boar and Treeshaker Chimera would be fun additions to draw a ton of cards. Anothee card I have in my Grothama is Feed the Pack. It has the potential to draw you a lot of cards here.

Might I suggest Shared Summons? It's a powerful creature tutor and is even hand positive. Also, as you're already considering Grothama, how about Nessian Boar and Treeshaker Chimera?

Okay comments after yesterday! I would still cut: Glorious Sunrise and Early Harvest as I don't see a ton of value in them here.

Good adds could be: Worldspine Wurm Hammer of Nazahn Treeshaker Chimera World Breaker Nylea, God of the Hunt

Hey, well done first attempt on a budget.

Something to consider is taking more advantage of Ukkima being unblockable for repeatable draw when it does combat damage to an opponent and the draw takes no additional mana which is key. These kind draw options could replace some of the mutate creatures since they're only consistently going to trigger once when you mutate Ukkima.

Yes, you could mutate Ukkima again, but you don't have enough mutate creatures for that to consistently happen and most mutate takes a lot of mana which is really not worth it. You're more likely to do combat damage to a player with Ukkima then to mutate since all you have to do is attack. Some mutate creatures are better than others such as Sea-Dasher Octopus and Gemrazer.

To take advantage of mutate with Ukkima you really want ways to return Ukkima to your hand since that will also return all the mutate creatures if they're mutated to Ukkima such as Crystal Shard. This lets you cast all the mutate creatures again to get the mutate effects again. I don't think it's worth including these effects, but they're options to make Ukkima better with mutate. Repeatable draw gives you more card advantage without having to jump through hoops or spend a lot of mana.

It's helpful in Commander when you have at least 10 draw sources and at least 10 ramp sources to make gameplay smoother. I tend to have more than 10 sources of each of these, but start with 10. Sources that are repeatable are most important. Some more ramp could be added replacing some of the lesser creatures.

Woodland Chasm and Rimewood Falls are budget lands that Farseek can search for, it can also search for Sunken Hollow. It's nice when 2 mana land ramp can get a dual land rather than just a basic land.

Masked Admirers is draw and it can be repeatable, but it's draw one card the first time for 4 mana and then combined for 6 mana each time after which is very lackluster. Treeshaker Chimera is also draw, but it's also 7 mana who wants to attack and hopefully die to draw, that's too much to draw three cards.

You could expand on the theme of +1/+1 counters with Forgotten Ancient. Who repeatedly puts a counter on itself each time any player casts a spell and then at your upkeep you can move any amount of counters from it to other creatures you control. The act of moving counters is the same as putting the counters on other creatures which triggers Simic Ascendancy.

Good luck with your deck.

Some cuts/adds I'm pondering at the moment, getting back into this deck:

  1. My whole recursion package needs to go. Emeria Shepherd doesn't have enough Plains to function properly, and the days of the Zacama, Primal Calamity combo are long since past. Once and Future is overcosted and replaceable... with the lovely Noxious Revival. This is probably the most direct upgrade, all the other cards I'm cutting (e.g. Shepherd) don't have straight-across replacements.

  2. Nyxbloom Ancient may well be cut if I decide a card like Protean Hulk, Treeshaker Chimera, Voice of Many, or Combustible Gearhulk is better. The Ancient is just a generic value piece, and I'm trying to cut down as much on those as I can. It does, however, allow for some of the crazy-long turns that I take to work, so I'm really unsure if it's gonna go or not.

  3. Brainstone, Kavu Lair, and Flawless Maneuver are all looking really spicy right now. Unsure as to what cuts would allow them to come in.

  4. Greater Gargadon might come out for Towering Titan, as cracking into a vanilla 9/7 is a bit underwhelming. The Gargadon is great at being an uninteractable sac outlet, but I do like the trample grant on Towering Titan. Again, unsure.

I also built a Rhys deck (on a budget though) na na na na, hey hey, goodbye(overwhelming tokens) here's a little bit of what I have learned playing it

Biowaste Blob can get big fast with your token doubling

Dauntless Escort has saved me many a time from a board wipe

With Immaculate Magistrate and Timberwatch Elf you can activate their ability in response to an opponent declaring blockers to buff up one of your little guys to kill or severely damadge an opponent

End-Raze Forerunners and Treeshaker Chimera can be game-winners

I also like using Glare of Subdual to tap down my opponent's creatures with my tokens

Citywide Bust can harm your opponents while leaving you practically untouched

As for planeswalkers, I run Ajani, Adversary of Tyrants and I prefer Elspeth Tirel so I also run her

Finally, my favorite combo in this deck is Phyrexian Rebirth + Fresh Meat

Good Luck in your war

Oh wow, I didn't even realize that is how the colorless mana works for Endbringer to be totally honest. I figured it was the same as if it had a 6 in the corner for mana cost. Lesson learned there. I really like your suggestions of Noble Quarry and Treeshaker Chimera . One of my friends just took out treeshaker from his deck so maybe I can trade for that and for noble quarry it can work for much cheaper or I can throw it on something indestructible in case there's anyone still around after that combat phase haha. Also I agree that kogla is basically a direct upgrade from polis crusher. Cheaper to use than polis with monstrous and works on attack rather than player damage. As much as I like these cards its hard for me to choose what of the 60 cards currently don't work as well so you think that one of these sideboard cards should definitely go in, what would you remove?

Also as far as EDH and pauper goes, I know I can make a pauper out of the vast amount of commons I got in packs when I was younger so I will probably try that out first but I will let you know when I find the strength (and or money) to put together a commander deck. If I was to do it now I would probably dismantle the two decks I have now to make some kind of hybrid but it would be difficult because both of my decks have a few sets of 4.
