Commander Deck Help forum

A bro of mine is trying to build Sultai Superfriends with Muldrotha, the Gravetide as the CMDR. he's asked me for help, but I have no idea how to optimize a superfriends deck. But it did get me thinking; what are the "Staples" for a superfriends deck? I understand theres Doubling Season and The Chain Veil but what about for those working on a budget? and what are the best proliferate options? Keen to Discuss :)

Some of the new proliferate stuff from War of the spark would be good like Flux Channeler , Evolution Sage , Contentious Plan and Karn's Bastion .

Yawgmoth, Thran Physician could be a good card since Muldrotha will get you stuff back from your graveyard.

Lastly Inexorable Tide , Thrummingbird and , Tezzeret's Gambit are also good additions.

Oh a few I forgot about. Planewide Celebration could get your walkers close to ult range and has some goo utility to it.

Steady Progress another draw then proliferate, but it’s at instant speed so it may save a walker who is close to death.

Then Bloom Hulk and Pollenbright Druid could be good if you have some flicker effects in the deck or something like Panharmonicon

The Oaths are good as a budget options with Planeswalkers: Oath of Nissa , Oath of Liliana and Oath of Jace . Oath of Nissa can help to color fix for Planeswalkers, good with a budget Sultai manabase. Grateful Apparition can be another repeatable source of no mana cost proliferate. Pir, Imaginative Rascal is a less expensive price Doubling Season effect.

Pernicious Deed is powerful because it destroys all nonland permanents except Planeswalkers equal or less than the amount of X you pay. Spore Frog can be a repeatable Fog which is good to protect Planeswalkers. Vessel of Nascency is a budget way to repeatedly try to find a Planeswalker and put it into your hand while also filling your graveyard for Muldrotha. Kaya's Ghostform can reanimate when the enchanted Planeswalker/creature dies or is exiled. Interplanar Beacon is more budget color fixing for Planeswalkers.

My question is and I always love a superfiends build but I'm used to white being in there for the Gideon and elspeth beat downs. In black green blue whats the win conditions with planes walkers... I knkw enoufh of green they can animate lands and put tokens into play for each land. What does black and blue offer in the relms of walkers that are good besides JTMS lol.. Or are theyre creature bombs you plan on running I didnt see??

Thanks to Joe_Ken_ and multimedia for the suggestions Really helpful stuff so far, some stuff we can use to help streamline the deck there, definitely.

Hey, Sid_the_sloth! I have no idea haha this is my friends deck, and not actually mine. Im trying to get ideas for him. His main plan is to use Muldrotha for the recursion, which so far makes the deck vwry frustrating to kill. He makes lots of chump blockers with his walkers, but to be conpletely honest, I dont think he cares about winning. Haha he just wants to try ultimate a few walkers and have fun.

griffstick HOW DID I NOT THINK OF THIS

Might or might not be obvious, but running whatever board wipes you can is usually a good idea for superfriends too. Damnation , Toxic Deluge , and Cyclonic Rift are the main three in those colors. If the list finds itself ramping very effectively, I'm a huge fan of the underrated The Great Aurora , which lets you float mana, cast the spell, get a bunch of lands into play untapped to make MORE mana, and cast a bunch of spells before your opponents get a chance to rebuild.

As far as walkers themselves go, I'd say definitely remember to use Kasmina, Enigmatic Mentor , who protects your walkers on two fronts while filling your graveyard for Muldrotha. Especially good if you do end up running the proliferate package.

Well since your friends Cmdr is muldrotha I think Lighthouse Chronologist would work great for extra turns. Since normal means of removal will never be good enough.

A budget board wipe that is not $20 is Nevinyrral's Disk other cheaper option and yes not as good as the others listed that are budget Deadly Tempest , Extinguish All Hope or Life's Finale
